Reflection:
With the rise of technological advancement, people tend to seek for convenience and
efficiency rather than optimal practices. The practice then was more reliant on manual dexterity.
However, as time passes, people look for better innovations to make life easier. Also, the
technological advancement lets people be busier with their own endeavors. Activities such as
cleaning, housekeeping and even laundries tend to be a huge of a task. Thus, with the activity of
washing and ironing my own clothes, realizations came by.
The process of washing starts with putting detergent of any kind, then allowing it to
dilute into its respective basin containing the water for washing. I describe this phase of washing
as one of the hardest for it will be the basis of how good you scrub those stains and how much
work will you be utilizing in order to clean the dirty clothes. The next procedure is to wash it
only with water. Normally, I would do the assignment about two times. It is painstaking at first
but if you had a hang on this part, it would just be an easy cake. Then after it, you can immerse it
to drying under the sun. I usually do not like washing my clothes. But, if I were to compare it
with washing dishes, I would say I prefer more the clothes to wash. What I am particular about
washing is the last stage which is the folding. At first, when I started washing my own clothes, I
got super excited. When I was young, I was never given a chance to wash. But, as the process
repeats itself, I get so mad about the job. I would just consult my washing machine to do it for I
believe that it takes my time completely out of hand. I am more determined, however, to do these
chores since I am reaching my optimal age for adulthood. I like folding the clothes. Then, the
ironing comes in. I love ironing because it feels so liberating to remove the wrinkles in my
clothes. When I was amateur in ironing, I burned my cloth. It was actually the first day of school.
The failure made me more motivated to become a better ironing man. After it, I put them in my
cabinet. I like arranging them in my cabinet; just a good refreshment to distress myself during
weekends. Washing and ironing clothes have a lot of stages but if you put determination in the
entirety of the process, it would never sprout in your mind the idea of how the work is difficult.
So, this activity definitely pre-requisites the entry of a certain person to marriage and having
children, respectively.
We are indeed living in the 21st century where efficiency co-defines with laziness. I know
we don’t have time to face a hill of dirty clothes. But, activities like this instill the manner of
being a responsible person. We need not to be a stranger of this activities for we have grown side
by side with it. Therefore, the challenge among all of us is to implore this activity for the
generations to come. We know not the time when technology could neglect us. We should be
prepped to face manual hard work in exchange to advanced mentality.
