Multi-genre Life Brochure

For this assignment each student will select 4 or more genres from the
genre sheet to create a brochure that provides information on some
aspect of your life. One genre must be an asterisked genre from the
list. Because a brochure is divided into three sections, a good idea might
be to focus on three corresponding aspects of your life. For example,
past/present/future, likes/dislikes/loves, family/friends/other people,
school/home/other, real life/fantasy life/future life, or you may choose
three other related aspects for your brochure.

This assignment is an opportunity for you to engage in the writing process

using multiple genres. It is also an opportunity for everyone to get to
know each other a little bit better. Therefore, the brochure does not need
to be deeply personal, but it can be. It does not even need to be true, but
I would like for it to be. *Please note that, by law, I am a mandated
reporter, which means that if you disclose anything that suggests you are
being abused or neglected I am required by law to report it.

Each student will present his or her brochure in a small group. Each group
will select one brochure to be presented to the class. The presenter of the
brochure does not necessarily have to be the author of the brochure.

Your brochure can be either handmade/drawn or it can be generated on a

computer – or a combination of both. Use the resources at your disposal.
However, you must be able to turn in a hard copy. I WILL NOT OPEN YOUR
BROCHURE FROM YOUR DOCUMENTS. Please remember this and consider
your computer capabilities when deciding how to create your brochure.
Not having a printer is not an excuse for not having your brochure. You
will have only a minimal amount of class time to complete this
assignment.

This assignment is worth 100 points in the Major grade category of

the grade book. Please refer to your syllabus for late grade/make up work
