About Our Organization… ASYMCA’s: Winter Session for Operation Hero

“Serving those who Serve” Operation Hero:

EFMP assists Marine Families in managing the dual
demands of a Marine Corps career and the special
need (any medical, emotional or educational need)
of a family member. We offer Case Management,
Outreach, Training, Respite Care and much more.
The responsibility of the Case Manager is to
provide hands on service to families that are
enrolled in the EFMP. Case Managers are able to
attend IEP meetings, liaison with Tri-Care/ECHO,
assist with housing issues, provide resources and
support & assist families navigating the various
systems. The Outreach/Trainer provides
information to the community at large and
develops programs, trainings and events for
families with “Special Needs.
MCCS Miramar EFMP
Operation Hero is a FREE eight week afterschool program held at Silver Strand, Dewey, Cabrillo,
Hancock, and Miller Elementary. The program serves as an outlet for military youth to share their
common experiences and receive academic enrichment all while making friends and having fun! The
curriculum is designed to help children find practical ways to address the challenges of military life,
introduce tools to help them succeed in school, and improve social and communication skills.
Program Components:
* FREE
* Afterschool (at school site)
* Eight Weeks
* Meets twice a week for 2 hours each session
* 8 to 1 facilitator to student ratio
* Crafts, Games and Interactive Activities incorporated into the curriculum
*Topics include: Self Esteem, Friendship, Bullying, Feelings and more!
