BSc (Hons) Aircraft Maintenance 04 Years Mathematics

Normal Programme

 Students will follow European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) 147 approved
Basic Aircraft Maintenance Training Course offered by SriLankan Aviation
College (SLAC) at Katunayake for the first two (02) years
 Subsequently students will follow the academic programme at KDU for 1½ years
at Ratmalana
 Students will undergo final 6 months of the programme on Internship/ OJT at
SLAC at Katunayake

Eligibility Requirements

The candidate should,

i. Be a citizen of Sri Lanka


ii. Be between 18-30 years of age on the closing date of applications
and

iii. Be eligible to apply for university admission and have fulfilled the following
requirements : Candidates should,

a) Obtain a minimum of three Simple (S) Passes at the G.C.E. (A/L)


examination in Mathematics streams

b) Pass the Common General Test (marks 30 and above)


or

iv. Have equivalent qualifications in London (A/L) examination (Cambridge or


Edexcel) or in any other equivalent foreign examination.
or

v. Have equivalent qualifications in University Entrance Examinations in any other


country

vi. Obtain a minimum of a Credit (C) pass for English Language at the G.C.E. (O/L)
examination or in London (O/L) or in any other equivalent foreign examination.

vii. Obtain a pass mark for the Aptitude and English tests and at the structured
interview conducted by KDU.

 Candidates who apply with High School Diplomas should pass SAT and TOEFL
examination with a minimum score of 79 or IELTS with a minimum score of 6.5.

 The applicants who apply with foreign qualifications need to have relevant
minimum qualifications equal to Sri Lankan G.C.E. (A/L) examination.
Validation of such qualification should be obtained from the Department of
Examinations of Sri Lanka. They are also required to submit a letter from a
recognized university/ academy/higher educational institution of the awarding
country certifying that the relevant qualification is sufficient to register at a
university/ academy/ higher educational institution to follow an undergraduate
course of study leading to a Bachelor’s Degree.

Application Procedure

 Duly completed applications should accompany the original copy of a receipt


obtained by paying a non-refundable fee of LKR 1,000/- (Sri Lankan Rupees) per
Degree Programme to any branch of the Bank of Ceylon, in favour of “Vice-
Chancellor, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University'' to be credited to
the Current Account Number ''9405831'' of the Bank of Ceylon, Idama Branch,
Moratuwa.

 Applications should be sent along with certified true copies of Birth Certificate,
G.C.E. (O/L) / London (O/L), and G.C.E. (A/L) / London (A/L) result sheets, a
document confirming the qualification for University admission or an equivalent
qualification at London (O/L), (A/L) (Cambridge or Edexcel) or in any other
equivalent foreign examination. Applicants should also enclose a stamp for the
value of LKR 40/- (Rupees Forty), along with the application.

 Completed application forms should be forwarded under registered cover to


reach the “Registrar, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University,
Ratmalana” by closing date.

 Applications not satisfying the basic qualifications, incomplete or not conforming


to the required standards will be rejected without any intimation to the
applicant.

 General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University reserves the exclusive right to
shortlist the candidates.
