Introduction: In this lesson, students are asked to read a text about „How to be a good parent? A teenager’s guide”. As the lead-in, the teacher
imitates that she is a 17 year old teenager and she wants to go to a party with her friends, but her parents do not allow it. The teacher asks the
students’ help to convince her parents. After they got familiar with the topic, they are asked to list some problematic situations between
parents and teenagers (pre-reading). Then, at first, they have to look for the gist (skimming), then look for specific information (scanning). After
the reading comprehension was successful, they have to compare the text with the situations they listed at the beginning of the lesson (post-
reading). As a follow up, there will be a role-play in which they get a situation, and they have to imitate either one of the parent or the
teenager. At the end of the lesson, they express their opinions about the text, whether they agree or disagree with Ellie.
