human disaster in 2020. Economies have witnessed considerable downfall, if not shattered altogether. With an increasing number of coronavirus cases, the government has locked down transport services, closed all public and private offices, factories and restricted mobilization. The tertiary sector has seen the most change out of the three sectors and some businesses like tourism have no scope to even start until lockdown ends. People from the workforce and education industries are forced to operate from home.
Impact of COVID-19 on…
… the Tourism Industry
COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the tourism
industry. As a result of the pandemic, many countries and regions have imposed quarantines, entry bans or other restrictions for citizens of or recent travellers to the most affected areas. Together with a decreased willingness to travel, the restrictions have had a negative economic impact on the travel sector in those regions. … the Education Sector
However, the learning of students has not stopped
altogether - students have been attending online classes at the safety of their homes, the advantage being that progress is being made gradually but surely. Also, online classes allow for students to gain more knowledge about the technology around them, not to mention that they also learn with an experience that gives them a new perspective, helping them to become aware and responsible citizens. However, the same technology is the perfect addiction for the students, as a result of which some might take the wrong benefit of online classes. Needless to say, lockdown has been an experience for both students and teachers to get used to! Post lockdown, the people of India can expect to see big changes happen in the field of education. A new National Education Policy has been proposed after 34 years during lockdown, the news of which has got many excited of what is to come. Few points in the policy include the changing of the school education system from 10 + 2 to 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 and making board examinations easier for students. All in all, the NEP is set to transform India into a global education superpower. … the Healthcare Industry
If the current situation is any indication, healthcare
will continue to be one of the most impacted industries – doctors are only focusing on life-critical surgeries. However, there is a very positive outlook for the Indian healthcare industry, as the COVID-19 outbreak has provided a unique opportunity. India is one of the biggest markets for healthcare services consumption. Healthcare being a necessity and not a luxury, this segment is likely to grow much better than most of the other industries.
Conclusion
For now, India’s economy is depending on how the
country of 1.3 billion will take on the world plague, COVID-19. It may be that India will become the next world superpower post lockdown. All we can do is continue our activities with care and hope that this experience was for the best.
