Reflection :
Finally, down to the last day of our community rotation. Now I am done to the 3 jeepney ride
from CEU to Beata Pandacan or a bus ride from SM Manila, and also from the b
As we go near the end of our community rotation, more families and patients we get to know. This
week, we visited again Manggahan to check if our patient Mr. JR is back already. However, we only met
his daughter and she confirmed to us that he will stay in Morong, Rizal for good. Nevertheless, we know
that it will be good for him. There in the province, the air is fresher and his diet would be mostly fish and
vegetables.
It‘s just somehow saddened me because we will not be able to explain to him personally the
familly wellnes plan we’ve made for him as well as for his wife. Although, we could give it to his
daughters, there is no guarantee that they would give it to him or even explain it to him. But of course
we would still give them a copy of the family wellness plan and pamphlets about their diseases such as
stroke, diabetes and hypertension. We would also provide them a copy of pinggang pinoy for adults and
kids, pregnancy facts and immunization chart.
We presented last Wednesday the family wellness plan we’ve been making for weeks already. It
is based on what each family member needs and what is required of them. We should know what we
need to prioritize, like for example we should not request every screening tests, we should make our lab
requests more personalized for each patient based on their condition and capabilities.
Yesterday, we’ve met a new patient. Just like Mr. JR, our new patient, Mr. ML had stroke. He
also has hemiplegia and aphasia. The one he’s complaining is the atrophy of his upper and lowerlimbs.
Again just like the case of Mr. JR, we could see how important the family support could give. Even if we
only spend short time with them we hope that we were able to help him at least in a little way like
educating them about his condition and on the correct way of taking his medications.
On this day, we presented the summary of programs and our recommendations to the barangay
council. Just like what I’ve mentioned before, I still think that they are not really interested to what we
do or what we present to them. I was not able to observe their eagerness. How I wish, I am wrong. All I
hope is that the things we did to their barangay would really help them and would lead to a better and
healthy life.
