Specificity in the binding of morphine to Antimorphine antibody 9B1 complexed with

morphine (1Q0Y) and Rat phosphatidyl ethanolamine binding protein (2IQY)
Abstract

Morphine’s hydroxyl group at III and VI positions were substituted with nitrogen,
sulphur and hydrogen individually. It was docked with 1Q0Y and 2IQY in solvents water
and vacuum. Residues in contact with morphine were identified and the geometry ie., the
length and angle between the contact residues measured manually. This was compared
with the geometry of unmodified morphine’s docking with the receptors in water and
vacuum. Few modified morphine showed increased number of contact residues and lesser
the distance between them in different solvents meaning high specificity.
