Continual Service Improvement

This is a critical aspect of information technology (IT) that involves the identification and

execution of IT opportunities to make its practices and services better. Continual services

improvement, therefore, involves objective measurement of the impacts of the efforts involved.

It comprises the IT department in an organization that seeks to utilize technology opportunities to

improve the delivery of its services.

Implementation of Continual Service Improvement

The implementation of continual service improvement is a continuous process that should

follow an effective process. Firstly, its implementation requires an organization to define its

goals and strategies. This step is essential as it helps to set the stage for the entire process. There

is also a need to outline the metrics that the process will focus on as well as gathering critical

data for the process. The administration has to process the data and analyze it in the framework

of continual service improvement. Lastly, the process requires the presentation and the utilization

of the information in a purposeful way. Thus, the implementation of continual service

improvement is a process that comprises of critical strategies from the management to be

successful.

Importance of Continual Service Improvement

Continual service improvement targets one of the primary foundations of an organization

embedded in IT. Thus, its significance can be acknowledged as it helps in defining, measuring,

and controlling of IT status of an organization. In return, it improves the processes to be

proficient, effective, and steady with the goals of the organization. According to Jantii and Cater-

Steel (2017), organizations in Finland are utilizing the benefits of continual service improvement

to save costs and increase customer satisfaction. This has been influenced by the need to stay

active in the market as competition increases. Thus, continual service improvement significantly

promotes the success of an organization by impacting the IT department.
