The local talent search was held at its usual venue – at SM Masinag in Antipolo Rizal. The
faculty, staff, and the candidates for each and every competition arrived as early as 7:00am while
the event started at 10:00am. The master of ceremony was Mr. Kirk Baysa, while the hosts are
Ms. Charito Jusi, Mr. Kevin Boquiren, and Ms. Cristy Vargas In the beginning of the program, It
started with the usual doxology, singing of the national anthem (Lupang Hinirang) and the STI
hymn. Then, the STI College Marikina Tertiary Student Organizations Recognition and Oath Taking
was held lead by Ms. Ronesa Posadas.
The talent search started with the battle of the bands competition. The bands that
competed are Ambrosia, Ryuseikai, Arcane, Late Comers, and Kwatros Kulinaryos. At 12nn, there
has been a lunch break for all the audiences – parents, students, and others; and all the event’s
staff and facilitators. At exactly 1:00pm, the show continues with the singing idol competition.
The competitors for this portion are Reannah Mara Revellame, Dana Ashera Isla, Raymart Torres,
Johainna Kristel Tiamzon, Patricia Anne Nacario, Ma. Trashia Dela Peña, and Rona Mae Sambajon,
respectively. They started with their production number and sang Time of my life by Dirty
Dancing and afterwards sang each of their piece for the competition. After the singing Idol, Some
intermission numbers from other dance groups and singers were watched on stage as the
contestants prepare themselves for the next part of the event. The hataw sayaw began joined by
the best dance groups in STI Marikina including 6 th Impact, SOP crew, M2D, D’strict, and Delete
respectively.
After Battle of the Bands, Singing Idol, and Hataw Sayaw is the most prestigious part of
the event – Mr. & Ms. STI. This is a competition where each candidate shows their own beauty,
figure, and wit. Joined by 13 aspiring men and women from the tertiary and senior high school
department who are dreaming to represent the school as Mr or Ms. STI College Marikina. The 7
Candidates for Ms. STI are (1) Lemerlyn Bustamante, (2) Jedidaiah Balbastro, (3) Gabrielle Sofia
Natividad, (4) Monique Joyce Belmonte, (5) Maria Joannah Feliciano, (6) Rosia Aaleck Casero, and
(7) Jhena Faye Din. However, the 6 candidates for Mr. STI are (1) Vinzcent Kyle Lopez, (2) Jomarie
Rola, (3) Fritz John Santos, (5) Jomar Aldrin Nacario, (6) LM Buela, and (7) Ralph Andrei Tocol.
Each of the candidates wowed the audiences and shunned them by their posture and the way
they present themselves onstage. After their production number, they introduced themselves
one-by-one which made SM Masinag on-fire with the loud chanting of each candidate’s
supporters from the audiences. After their production number is an intermission number from
STI College Marikina’s faculty and staff which made the audiences again, chant for their favorite
teachers.
The next segment of their competition is the casual wear. Each of the candidates
showcased their personality and fashion sense by how they style themselves in the casual wear.
After that, Mr. & Ms. Photogenic is awarded as well as Best in Casual wear for the male and
female category. After this, the contestants were given a time to change for the next segment as
other students danced for the intermission number. Every student in STI from senior high school
to 2nd year in the tertiary level danced to the music of Katchi. There was a flash mob of STI
students from the ground floor to the 3rd floor of the building happily dancing, shouting and
chanting to the beat. After the dance, the student released a loud “Yay!” to show satisfaction
that the dance is over and they have complied to their requirements in their PE subject.
After the intermission numbers is the Sports Wear. Each candidate chose their desired
sportswear in cooperation with their partners. They gave their own style and signature on how
they will showcase their own sport – ex: cheerleading, motorcade, tennis, or golf. After this,
awards are given to the Best in Sportswear for the male and female candidates. Again, as
candidates prepare for the next segment, various intermission numbers wowed the audience on
stage like the songs of the previous winners of singing idol and also judges for the said
competition – Ms. Dianne Estopil and Ms. Loise Ruizol.
As candidates started walking down the ramp, they made the audience speechless as they
move with their shiny dark blue gown, and black tuxedos sponsored by TCMI fashion academy.
Each candidate has their own style of formal wear, and it depends on them how they will present
it to the judges and audiences. After each has finished, The Best in Formal Wear was awarded as
well as Beautiful Horizon Ambassador and Ambassadress, and The title for the most number of
fans in Facebook both for the male and female. After the awarding, only 5 candidates each from
the male and female contestants were chosen as finalists who will proceed to the question and
answer portion where their scores will go back to zero. These are candidates 1, 3, 5, 6, and 7 for
Mr. STI and candidates 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7 for Ms. STI.
Each contestants wowed the hosts, judges, and audiences as they answer questions about
climate change, the youth, Society and economy, and other various topics under the sun.
Contestants immediately left the stage as soon as they answer their corresponding questions.
After the Q&A portion, starts the Awarding ceremony.
For the last phase of the event, The 1 st runner up and Champion for Battle of the bands,
Singing Idol, Hataw Sayaw, and Mr. and Ms. STI will be awarded. The winners for Battle of the
bands were called onstage and received their prizes and certificate. The 1 st runner up for the
battle of the bands is --- and the Champion is -----. In The Singing Idol, Rona Mae Sambajon was
the 1st runner up and Reannah Revellame won the title. In Hataw sayaw however, --- is the 1 st
runner up and SOP crew is still the unbeatable Champion for so many years. And for the moment
we’ve all been waiting for is the 1 st runner up in Mr. & Ms. STI which are Mr. Ralph Andrei Tocol
and Ms. Jedidaiah Balbastro respectively. Mr. STI is none other than Mr. --- amd Ms. Jhena Faye
Din is Ms. STI 2019.
