B. Comparison

LUZON:

One of the country’s goals is to pursue economic development. Our agriculturally-dominated lands
have been converted to residential areas, industrial corporations and recreational places. One evident
example is the farmland in Batangas which is transformed into a resort. The resort not only provided
leisure areas for the families who wanted to invigorate and relax from the stress in the city but also
yielded work for people in Batangas. Such development accelerated the country’s national income.
However, this economic progress could be hastened or curtailed by its ill effects in the environment. It
is too hazardous to convert a farmland into a resort. Besides, the wastes that can be produced in the
operation of the resort would detrimentally affect the environment.

As we can see there has been grave changes in the farmland of San Juan, Batangas. The owner builds
several swimming pools in it and also developed several cottages for the tourists who are interested to

 experience their offered amenities. Batangas is now known as a central of resorts that offers relaxation
and several luxurious facilities.

VISAYAS:

Catalina beach resort, now popularly known as Playa de Catalina Hotel and Restaurant was just an
ordinary beach resort before. Catalina beach resort can be found in Can-Avid, Eastern, Samar. It is located
on a 29-hectare peninsula with a 3.6 kilometre shoreline facing the Pacific Ocean and the Ulot River on the
other side, making this resort a unique hideaway for every traveller. Catalina beach resort has a perfect
white sand, clean beach and crystal clear sparkling blue ocean waters. Not to forget, amazing coral reefs for
diving is also one of the reason why people loved to visit this place. The resort was also popular because
many people choose to have a gathering like reunions in this place. Overnight activities are also great thing
to do here, the resort before offers tents to be rented by customers. To experience the beauty of this resort,
you don’t have to pay any entrance fees. This was totally free to anyone of any ages before. Until in 2007
the resort was sold to a businessman. He then developed the resort and built a hotel and restaurant for
tourists who visit the province. He changed the name of the resort from Catalina Beach Resort to Playa de
Catalina. The owner has still managed to preserve the resort’s beauty and able to enhance more of its
facilities. Modernizations are already evident in the resort and it happened that many people have able to
love the changes in the place. The resort is already available to hold group functions such as wedding
receptions, parties, conferences, teambuilding seminars, and private meetings. The resort also connects you
with friends or your business through their free Wi-Fi internet service. They take pride on being a
Responsible Travel destination, making sure that way visitor will stay contributes to the conservation of
natural and cultural heritage, and builds local pride for the community. Now, Playa de Catalina attracts not
only the people near the village but also tourist who came from the different part of the world.

MINDANAO:

Pueblo de Oro IT Park

The now IT park was once and Idle piece of land that belongs to the Pueblo de Oro town. The
town was seen to be wide enough to fit an IT Park and Golf Course after some years the piece of land
was developed into an IT park with a world class golf course.

Alwana Business Park

This land was once a wood factory because of the dense population of trees and its wide area.
With the area so large the management decided to expand the residential and industrial areas to
accommodate large populations and income generating businesses. It is now divided into several parts
for residential, industrial and business areas.

PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate

The PHIVIDEC is large stretch of flat land that is near the sea and is part of the Tagoloan and
Villanueva municipalities. It is now developed to be the Philippines largest industrial areas housing the
large factories of national and international countries.
