1.4 TCP/IP settings for PC
To get access to the TCP/IP settings for a Windows 7 machine:
2.1 General
For safety reason, block the trip before executing the update/ upgrade, the IED
will reboot during the process.
If authority handling is activated in IED, the update/ upgrade process will require
login with valid username and password as defined for the IED.
The IP-address of the IED must be set to default IP-address before starting an
Upgrade.
This document will use 10.1.150.3 as the IP-address of the IED in the examples.
When the IED is in ready mode, enter "ping 10.1.150.3" at the prompt, see figure
below. Check that the communication between the IED and the PC works properly,
and then close this window.

executed.
3.3 Help
From the Help menu, the tool instruction (this document) can be opened, as well
as an eventual package instruction, the latter may be available when a package
has been opened and if the package includes an instruction.
The reset is only performed for FST tool, there is no reset for the IED, which may
continue update/upgrade process and end up in different states, depending on
when the reset is performed.
When reset is pressed there will be an additional confirmation dialog with info
about what stage of the process will be aborted if reset is performed.
The reset should not be performed without good reason to do so. If reset has been
performed and there are any doubt of the impact on the IED, contact ABB for
support.
3.6.1 Verification
To start the upgrade process, press the Upgrade button. The Field Service Tool will
verify if it is possible to upgrade the current IED and if a mismatch is detected, the
upgrade will be denied.

5. Troubleshooting
1.
Check that your PC is physically connected to the correct IED.
Check that IED is powered and runs normally (before
update/upgrade).
Check Ethernet communication using ping (see chapter 2.4).
Temporarily disable all PC firewalls during update/upgrade (windows
firewall and virus protection firewall).
Restart IED.
Restart FST.
2. It has been noted that communication problems may occur when performing
updates/upgrades depending on a number of factors. Even if the ping
command succeeds, there are things to look out for that might interfere
with the process.
It appears that some USB adapter drivers can cause issues with
communication reliability, possibly also depending on driver versions.
1. Check for, and shutdown, any FTP server on the PC, and then retry.

2. If problem persists even though you think you do not have any FTP server
running on your PC, check/try following:
There are FTP servers that can be active (e.g. Cerberus) and appear to not
conflict with FST, but still inhibit the FST process from succeeding.
To check if you have such an FTP server running, you can start command
prompt window and enter command: “ftp 127.0.0.1” (without the quotes).
If you now get a prompt to logon to an FTP server (i.e. a prompt to enter
user name and password), then you still have an active FTP server, and you
need to find out how to disable it.
