SYMPTOMS:
There are 3 possible symptoms.
1. Excessive toner dusting from the Toner Hopper and the Exhaust Vent.

CAUSES:
There are three possible causes:
1. The developer comes out from the joint covers due to insufficient amount of grease in the joint.
2. G-Seal (sealing for the shaft) is deformed and the developer has overflowed from the gap.
3. The tape just above the gears does not stick sufficiently and developer came out from the gap.

SOLUTION:
Production Countermeasure:
1. The factory has changed the way the grease is applied in the PCDU along with an extra check for the
G-Seal so that the developer will not overflow.
2. The factory has also added an extra step in the manufacturing process to make sure that the tape has
been attached correctly.

Field Countermeasure:
Replace the PCDU if you experience the symptoms listed above.
If you are experiencing problems above the serial number range (See Units Affected), contact the
Ricoh helpdesk with the following information:
- Description of the problem
- Pictures of the effected unit
- Full SMC exported using SP 5992
- Serial number of the PCDU
Contact the helpdesk and you will be provided with a case number. Please keep the PCDU with the case
number attached for 30 days and you may be contacted to send the PCDU into engineering.
UNITS AFFECTED:
All PCDUs listed below and manufactured after the date provide will have the modified PCDU.
