ABSTRACT
Under the effect of a single radial load the rolling bearings (slewing rings)
transmits the external load in a region less than 180 degrees, if the radial clearance
exists. To improve the bearing capacity a new solution is proposed. The purpose of this
paper is to describe a new class of rolling bearing which assure an 0 to 360 degrees
load repartition, if a single radial load act on the mechanical structure. Usually the
normal rolling bearings contains one or more rows of rolling elements which turns
between two or more rings. The main elements of new classes of bearings are
presented in Figure 1b. comparative with a classical solution Figure 1a. The bearing
contains a body 1 (see Figure 1b) with 3 regions 1a, 1b and 1c which assure the inner
and outer frontier of the bearing, an intermediary ring 2 and rows of rolling elements
disposed between the body 1 and body 2 frontiers. These regions 1a, 1b and 1c can be
machined as a single piece or can be assembles to assure a single rigid body creating an
inner-outer ring. The intermediary element 2 assure the load transmission in a area with
an angle of 0 to 360 degrees when a radial load act.

The quasi-static and quasi-dynamic analysis is made using the centre mass
displacement of rolling element and the structure Jacobian matrix applied to a SSRB

structure [1]. To create a 5dll quasistatic analysis the raceway curvature centres and the
displacement vector are presented in fig. 2 (for a particular case) in IOE, IRR and
ORR cases [2]. The inner-outer ring and the intermediary ring can create 10 new
classes of rolling bearings with the schemas presented in figure 2. A complete analysis
shows 11 (10 machined +1) analysis case.

The new working principle assures a load distribution in a region of 0 to 360 degrees,
which implies advantages regarding the bearing life growing, the miniaturizing
process (Fig.3), increasing rotation speeds and also in the increasing external loads.
