I. INTRODUCTION

As a facilitator of learning, it is my responsibility to help the learner

understand the knowledge they need about production of simple electrical
gadgets through the utilization of this learners’ materials. Ask the learners about
the process of making simple electrical gadgets as well as its uses.

This course aims to develop the knowledge, values, skills, and interest of
the learners about simple electrical gadgets. The concepts and skills that will be
developed along the way can be of great help to the learners because the
learning that will take place during the course of the study can help the learners
to hone their talents and develop their skills in the production of simple electrical
gadgets into a profitable source of income.

II. OBJECTIVES

Guided by the teacher, the learner is expected to:

1. identify the materials and tools needed in making simple electrical
gadgets;
2. identify simple electrical gadgets and their uses (extension cord,
doorbell, plugs, lampshades);
3. make a project plan for an extension cord;
4. construct simple electrical gadget (extension cord); and
5. observe safety and health practices in making electrical gadgets

III. DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENT

Diagnostic Assessment is given to determine the prior knowledge of

learners in terms of the competencies they need to develop in the entire module.
Guide the learners in accomplishing this initial activity before going through the
learner’s materials.

IV. PRE-TEST

A 20-item-test will be given in every quarter to determine the knowledge

of learners in terms of the competencies they need to develop.

Ask the learners to use separate sheet of paper or quiz notebook for their
answers.
V. PARTS OF THE LESSON

A. KNOW
 This part of the learner’s materials contains activities that will
activate prior knowledge of the learner; it elicits tentative
responses through provocative and critical questions essential to
the development of understanding.
 Make sure learners are engaged in doing the given activities and
give assistance to the students when needed.

B. PROCESS
 In this phase, learners are provided with various learning activities
that will require the learners to make sense of the information;
assess the learner’s skills; and questions that will enable learners
to construct their own meaning/understandings and express these
in their own way.

C. REFLECT AND UNDERSTAND

 In this phase, other learning resources and experiences for your
learners are provided to enrich/broaden their understanding of the
lesson through additional activities, reading resources, and
provocative or critical questions to draw learners’ core of
understanding.

D. TRANSFER
 In this part, learners are expected to transfer his/her learning
through a product or performance through the given various
activities provided in each lesson.
 The learners will demonstrate the various competencies required
for each lesson.

Use KWL chart to elicit information from pupils.

Discuss the uses of each gadget. Use the column of What I

want to learn as a basis for discussion.

GADGETS AND THEIR USES

 Extension cord – is used as a power extender or
extension lead that allows electrical appliances to be
used at the same time.
 Doorbell – is a signaling device typically placed near
a door to a building's entrance. When a visitor presses
a button the bell rings inside the building, alerting the
occupant to the presence of the visitor.
 Plugs and sockets – are devices that allow
electrically operated equipment to be connected to
the primary alternating current (AC) power supply in
a building.
 Lampshades – aside from its decorative element, it
is used to diffuse or redirect the light emitted by the
bulb for maximum effectiveness
 Wireless CCTV camera - are basically used to
monitor places such as banks, airports, museums,
commercial centers, shopping malls, car parking
areas, public events and other places. Today the
Closed-Circuit Television Cameras are used in homes
too for security purposes
 USB player - is one of the most modern music
equipment used by music lovers
 Oven toaster – is used to bake cookies, cook quick
snacks,and toast foods
 Cellphone - any portable telephone
which uses cellular network technology to make and
receive calls
 Laptop/Desktop –is used to store huge amount of
data ad perform many functions that have made our
life easier.
 Flat iron –is used to press clothes to
remove creases

C. Reflect and Read and answer the questions.

Lesson 3 (DAY 3)
Steps in making simple electrical gadget (Extension Cord)
A. Know Use a jigsaw puzzle to recall the simple electric gadgets
discussed. Have each group arrange the puzzle to reveal the
image. Let the class identify whether the group’s answer is
correct or not.

Ask the pupils if they have experienced making any of the

simple electrical gadgets they learned the previous day.
B. Process Present a sample extension cord (picture of realia)

Discuss the materials needed in making an extension

cord.

What you need to make a 10m extension cable:

 electrical cord
 male electric plug

 convenience outlet/female electric plug

 screw drivers

 wire stripping/cutting tools/ pliers

Discuss the steps while demonstrating how to make a
simple extension cord.

Step 1

Separate one end of the electrical wire to about 10

centimeters each.

Step 2

Now use your wire stripper to peel off the skin or

insulator of the wire ends by 2 centimeters.

Step 3

Loosen the screw of the male electric plug. Open cover

of the male plug with a screwdriver.

Step 4

Insert the wire into the male plug. Twist both ends of
the wire to keep the wires making contact with each
other. Tighten the screws down to hold the wires
securely.

Step 5

Put back the cover of the plug so the wire will not be
exposed which might cause electric shock.

Step 6

Repeat steps 1 to 4 on the other end of the electrical

wire. This time with the female electric plug.

C. Reflect and What are the materials needed in making an extension cord?
Understand Do you think you can make one? Why?

D. Transfer Complete the statement below by writing the materials

needed as well as the steps in making an extension cord
using your own words.
I can now make my own extension cord by using the
following materials: ___________________, ____________,

“Prevention is better than cure”

The teacher emphasizes the following safety precautions and

practices before letting his students do their task.

1. Always keep your hands dry when working with

wires, switches ad any electrical connections.
2. Do not overload. Decrease the load of your
connections to avoid short circuits which can cause
fire.
3. Keep away combustible materials like clothes, rugs,
papers, and chemicals near electrical wirings or
connections.
4. Do not insert pieces of metals like coins in the fuse
box.
5. Always keep floors dry.
6. Report broken bulbs or dangling electrical wirings
immediately to the authority.
