TITLE: 3-DAYS SCHOOL BASED IN SERVICE TRAINING


FOR DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND
MANAGEMENT

RATIONALE:

The disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) has been


institutionalized in the Department of Education through its curriculum integration,
in connection to this Eastern Visayas are implementing the incorporation of DRRM.

Section 14 of the Republic Act 10121 (or the Philippine Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Act of 2010) requires DepEd, CHED, and TESDA to
integrate disaster risk education in school curricula.

According to the law of DepEd and CHED, have an important part to play in
the country’s approach to DRRM. DepEd officials agreed, saying students and
teachers must be equipped with knowledge on mitigating and managing hazards and
risks brought by natural disasters like earthquakes.

RA 10121 mandates local DRRM bodies to “encourage community,


specifically the youth, participation in disaster risk reduction and management
activities, such as organizing quick response groups, particularly in identified
disaster-prone areas, as well as the inclusion of disaster risk reduction and
management programs as part of youth programs and projects.”

AIMS

To provide information, tools, and instruments that will increase the overall
awareness and understanding of Disaster Risk Management in general and the topics
of risk reduction, transfer, and financing in particular. At the end of each session,
there is scope to assess the learning of the participants from the session

Note: All expenses after this training which will cover the snacks and lunch of the
participants for three days including the tokens and honoraria for the resource
speakers will be charged to school’s MOOE fund subject to proper auditing and
accounting procedure.

EVALUATION AND MONITORING

In order to attain efficiency and effectiveness of this in-service-training workshop on


Disaster Reduction and Risk Management (DRRM), the resource speakers, school
head , teachers shall:

1. ensure active participation of all participants


2. monitor progress and completion of all workshop outputs for every
activity;
3. conduct self-assessment and feedback forms from the participants
