RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

What does a restaurant management system do? The Restaurant Management System helps
the restaurant manager to manage the restaurant more effectively and efficiently by computerizing
meal ordering, billing and inventory control. The system processes transaction and stores the resulting
data. Reports will be generated from these data which help the manager to make appropriate business
decisions for the restaurant. For example, knowing the number of customers for a particular time
interval, the manager can decide whether more waiters and chefs are required. Restaurant
management system is for managing your restaurant in a fast and easier way, this system has
the capability to take orders from the customers thereby, raising employee’s potency and
reducing client complaints. It depends upon the customer that what he exactly want to
purchase and what he needs at the time and it is designed especially for a restaurant which
wants to attend their customers in a very well manner.

This system is developed to automate day to day activity of a restaurant. Restaurant is a

kind of business that serves people all over world with readymade food. This system is developed
to provide service facility to restaurant and also to the customer. This restaurant management
system can be used by employees in a restaurant to handle the clients, their orders and can help
them easily find free tables or place orders. The services that are provided is food ordering and
reservation table management by the customer through the system, customer information
management and waiter information management, menu information management and report.
Main objective build the system this is to provide ordering and reservation service by the
customer. Each menu item has a name, price and associated recipe. A recipe for a menu item has
a chef, preparation instruction sand associated ingredients. With this system, ordering and
reservation management will become easier and systematic to replace traditional system where
are still using paper, has the capability of calculating the bill according to the number of the item
ordered and taxes are also added accordingly then shown to the customer in a proper bill, further we
will see the designing of the system and parameters of it basis of which our system does work properly.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The main goal of this study was to develop a desktop based billing system for a restaurant. This
software designed to administer its Admin and Employee’s. Restaurant Billing System is a billing system,
made for the effective utilization of modern technology in the organization. It is automated software
that can handle a lot of information about the order history. It has the capability to process bills and
gather information about its employee’s bill statement whether the employee has needed to pass the
cashier on another employee. Furthermore, the following employee that has ended their shift must lock
their billing history with the pass code that will be given by his/her admin or manager. It is designed for
the sole purpose of efficiency, speed and accuracy. This application allows the admin to view the detail
history of day to day operation in terms of sales, add new or products; view the history of the employee
who last used this system. This application was developed using java eclipse for the database was used
to store data.

The project is developing because; many restaurants have a lot difficult to manage the business
such as customer ordering and reservation table. If the customer books an order and later wants to
cancel the order, he is permitted to do this only within a specific time period. By using manual customer
ordering it is difficult for the waiter to keep the correct customer information and may lose the
customer information. The customer is also given the facility to view the status of the order to
determine if it is ready. Restaurant management system is the system for manage the restaurant
business. After successful login the customer can access the menu page with the items listed according
to the desired time. The main point of developing this system is to help restaurant administrator
manage the restaurant business and help customer for online ordering and reserve table. In proposed
system user can search for a menu according to his choice i.e. according to price range and category of
food and later he can order a meal.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This system is used to make your restaurant management easier and much more proficiency
than the other systems. It has a differentiate compare the other system because it is user-friendly, and
mostly you don’t need to calculate all your restaurant profit by yourself. This system will give you a lot of
time and it is already automated that all of the money and the numbers of orders is already compute.

Many people have experienced going to a restaurant where the service is poor and there is a lack of
attention from the wait staff. The paper menus can be flimsy, hard to navigate, and outdated. To
leverage the growing mobile industry, the on –line restaurant proffers solution. This restaurant menu
and management system will replace the paper waste, is more maintainable, and allows for greater
customer engagement. The problem confronting the research is to determine the Documentation for
restaurant management system:

1. What is the advantages of our system in other systems that is already exist?

2. What is the disadvantages of our system in other systems that is already exist?

3. What if our system hacked by anonymous? What will be the possible way to solve this problem?

RESEARCH METHOD

The purpose of this study is to gain consumer insight about the performance restaurant
management system in fast food restaurant, for example what major types of problems the restaurants
are facing and the feedbacks of their customers that they need to improve the service quality of their
restaurants, and the respondents will be the users who are interested to cooperate. To collect the data
we will go through a survey questionnaire method.

PARTICIPANTS OF THE STUDY

This study benefited the manager of the restaurant, administrator, employees who also
considered this study, for they will be more attentive to their products/foods and especially from the
customers that they will need to plan like how they buy, when they buy, where they buy and mostly
what convinces them to buy that have a interest to their foods or products.

DATA GATHERING INSTRUMENT

Moreover, the researcher will have to figure out, whether the respondents fall under category
or not the sample size will be minimum of 2 or 3 fast food restaurant, for this study and the data analysis
of this research will be represented on qualitative manner. It has been mentioned earlier that, the data
will be gathered by a survey question. As a result the analysis will be qualitative. However, there will be
few qualitative solutions.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT OF DATA

We list down the main benefits of what valid data that will be use to our system.

CHAPTER 4

CONCLUSION
 The project entitled “Restaurant Management System” has been proposed to be
implementing to replace the manual system.
 The developed system accomplishes all the objectives stated for the need for the
change of the system
 The outputs produced seem to satisfy all the users but it will definitely take to look
forwarded for the consequences the new system could produce.
 This project was made user friendly by the use of visual basic enabling the user to
interact easily with the database.
 It’s also enabled the platform to serve the needs of emerging information technology
trends and needs.
