My Philosophy of Education

Ayesha warach

My Classroom Environment
I want my classroom to be a safe place for all of my students, where they feel comfortable to be
themselves without the constant fear of being wrong or judged by their peers. A safe environment will be
created in many different ways such as, I will always support my students no matter what, while listening to
their problems and trying my best to comfort them and give them advice to be the best version of themselves. I
will also constantly remind them that they are loved, and their worth is not defined based on how other’s
perceive them. Instead of becoming frustrated when they are struggling to comprehend new material, I will
reassure them that it’s ok, and keep working with them until they get it. I want a very warm, family environment
in my class, I want it to feel like a second home to them. Along with being their teacher, I want to feel like a
friend to them. I’ve always learned better with teachers whom I’ve had a close personal relationship with, and I
feel like my students can benefit from that as well socially, emotionally, and academically.

My Ideal Classroom
I want my classroom to be very modern, aesthetic, and overall feel like a fun, comfortable place. I will
have many different types of seating options, such as desks in groups, bean bag chairs, and more because
every student has different preferences for how they learn best. My class will also have lot’s, and lot’s of plants.
Plants are scientifically proven to increase levels of positivity, and nature helps us feel more relaxed and calm,
which creates a good mood and vibe for the day. They also help regulate humidity and help purify air. The
benefits of plants are almost endless, plus they’re super cute. My classroom will also have many human rights
posters along with many different LGBTQ representaion flags because every single student will be loved,
valued, and accepted in my classroom, and I want them to feel that way. As far as oragnizaion, my classroom
will not have a spot for students to keep their journals and binders for my class, because I want to teach high
school, and by then kids need to learn to be responsible and accountable for bringing their own work to class
each day.

Student/Teacher Relationship
A positive student/ teacher relationship has numerous benefits to both the student and the teacher.
Kida are definitely more likely to learn with a teacher whom they feel a connection with and comfortable
around, as opposed to some strict teacher who doesn’t care about forming relationships. This also helps the
teacher as they will be able to understand their students and be able to find the most effective way to help
them when needed. Of course I want them all to feel comfortable about asking academic questions along with
life advice and personal help. You have no idea what students are going through at home, they might not have
a safe environment there, and might not have a person they can reach out for help to. I’m going to make sure I
know every student by name and need by trying to spark engaging, personal, conversation with and try to get
to know them as if they were my own child. Of course I would never force a student to open up if they do not
feel comfortable, but I will always be there fot them, and check up on them every once in a while.

Motivating My Students
In my class, there will be many fun interactive lessons designed to keep students engaged and
motivated throughout my lessons. I will always provide plenty of class time for students to finish all their work
for the day, and try my best to rarely assign homework. Students go to school for the majority of their day, we
dont need to add work to the little time they get at home. Plus, if teachers teach the subject well enough, there
shouldn’t really be a need for homework. There are countless other factors in kids' lives and we shouldn’t add
any extra stress on top of that. If a student ever feels unmotivated during my class, I will always be extremely
patient with them and try to understand why. Once I know whether they are simply tired, there’s something
bothering them, or any other issue, I can then find the best way to accommodate them and address the
concern. I will also allow my students to listen to music while they work, because music greatly impacts mood
and motivation and has many other benefits.

My Primary Goal
There are many things that I will strive to achieve as a teacher. Firstly, of course I want to make sure
that they retain the information taught to them, and that it's meaningful to them, and they can apply it to better
their life. I can accomplish this by connecting academic lessons to the real word and giving everything I teach
meaning. Secondly, I want to help them grow in life, and be a part of their journey. I want to be someone who
teaches valuable advice, and leaves a huge impact on their lives - one that they will always remember. I want
them to remember me as someone who was always there for them when they needed it most, someone they
could always count on no matter the circumstance, and someone who believed in them, even if no one else
did.
