Week 1: FACTORING

Set up an equation and solve each problem. ( 3points each)

1. The length of a rectangle is 2 inches less than twice its width. If the
area of the rectangle is 112 square inches, find the length of the
rectangle.

2. The length of one leg of a right triangle is 4 centimeters more than

the length of the other leg. The length of the hypotenuse is 8
centimeters more than the length of the shorter leg. Find the length
of the shorter leg.
3. A room contains 112 chairs. The number of chairs per row is five less
than three times the number of rows. Find the number of chairs per
row.
4. Suppose the sum of squares of three consecutive integers is 77. Find the integers.

Week 2 : Illustrating and Simplifying Rational Algebraic Expressions
