My Philosophy of Education

Michael Haertel

My Classroom Environment
(at least 4 sentences)
I want my student’s to be comfortable and safe inside my classroom. When they enter the
classroom, they will be welcomed to a positive teacher that has a smile on and greets them when they
enter. I will let the students keep to themselves if they wish, but if they want to have a conversation
with me about something, then they are open to doing that. I will give them a list of games, and they
will vote on what kind of game from the list they want to play.
My Ideal Classroom
(at least 4 sentences)
I want my classroom to be flexible, and allow for desk arrangement to allow them to work with
changed environments. There will be books in the corner if they ever need reference material to look
through if need be. When there is a project to turn in, then there will be an organized box with a tab for
each class. There will be pictures of cat memes in a lot of different places. There will be pictures of me
and my family near my desk.
Student/Teacher Relationship
(at least 4 sentences)
Having a positive relationship will allow for the students to trust you and allow for you to teach
them without as many interruptions as a normal class would. I want my students to feel comfortable
telling me their problems if they want to tell them to me, and I want students to see me as a teacher
that can help you out with whatever you're going through. I will assign each student to draw a number
depending on the size of the class, and I will make a list with the drawn numbers in order to memorize
each person’s name. I will also memorize the sound of each person’s voice and remember their name
by voice recognition.
Motivating My Students
(at least 4 sentences)
If my students aren’t motivated, then I will try to figure out what the problem is and take action
from what it is they’re going through. I will always have a positive attitude when I teach and try to help
any student who is struggling on the work. I will have lessons that everyone can participate in if they
wish to. I will incorporate activities that allow for there to be groups of 3, and these groups will
compete to answer the question first, and whoever gets the question right will earn a plinth for their
team, and whoever has the most points at the end of the game earns a reward of 3 points back on an
assignment of their choice. These three points cannot be put onto quizzes and can only be used in a
weeks time.
My Primary Goal
(at least 4 sentences)
My goal as a teacher is to see that my students pass my class with their own effort to achieve
graduation. I want my students to remember me for helping them whenever they have a problem and
always have a positive attitude, even when I am not given one. When students talk about me, I want
them to speak about my kindness and leniency with students, while getting them to learn what they
need to in a fun way. I also want students to know that I will not allow leniency in turning in
assignments unless I know what their problem is, and I allow them to take their time.
