Poetry (Derived from the Greek poiesis, "making") is a form of literature that uses aesthetic and often rhythmic, qualities of language such as phonaesthetics, sound symbolism, and metre to evoke meanings in addition to, or in place of, the prosaic ostensible meaning. Example of poetry in the Philippines was “Florante and Laura” the written works that made by Francisco P. Balagtas. Non-Fiction Non-fiction is any document or content that purports in good faith to represent truth and accuracy regarding information, events, or people. Dead Stars by Paz Marquez Benitez. Drama Drama is a mode of fictional representation through dialogue and performance. It is one of the literary genres, which is an imitation of some action. Drama is also a type of a play written for theater, television, radio, and film. Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare. Fiction Fiction is a narrative form, in any medium, consisting of people, events, or places that are imaginary in other words, not based strictly on history or fact. Example of this genre is the story about Orpheus and Eurydice. Mystery Mystery novels, also called detective fiction, follow a detective solving a case from start to finish. They drop clues and slowly reveal information, turning the reader into a detective trying to solve the case too. Example of this is the Story of Pandora’s Box. Horror Horror novels are meant to scare, startle, shock, and even repulse readers. Generally focusing on themes of death, demons, evil spirits, and the afterlife, they prey on fears with scary beings like ghosts, vampires, werewolves, witches, and monsters. Example: Last Days by Brian Robinson. Romance Romantic fiction centers around love stories between two people. They’re light hearted, optimistic, and have an emotionally satisfying ending. Romance novels do contain conflict, but it doesn’t overshadow the romantic relationship, which always prevails in the end. Example of a Romance story is Twilight (2005) by Stephenie Meyer. Fable Fable is a literary genre: a succinct fictional story, in prose or verse that features animals, legendary creatures, plants, inanimate objects, or forces of nature that are anthropomorphized, and that illustrates or leads to a particular moral lesson, a moral. Example: The Tortoise and Hare.
