Semi Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 8

Thursday
A. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners shall be able to:
 create a record of his/her daily meals;
 compare his/her Daily Meal Journal with the recommended food intake; and
 determine if he/she meets the standard nutritional requirements.

B. Subject Matter
Topic: Proper Nutrition and Wellness
Reference: Grade 8 Science Learner’s Module pp. 308-309
Materials: Visual aids, Power point presentation, Food Pyramid

C. Preliminary Activities
a. Greetings
The teacher will greet the students.
b. Prayer
A volunteer student will lead the prayer at the front.
c. Energizer
A short dance video clip will be presented by the teacher for students to
follow.
d. Checking of attendance
The teacher will ask the group leaders for the absences. This shall be
recorded.

D. Lesson Proper
a. Recall
The teacher will post the three pictures of accessory organs of the digestive system.
The class must correctly identify each one of these and cite its respective functions.

b. Motivation
JUMBLED LETTERS. Five sets of words will be presented by the teacher. Each word
contains jumbled letters. The students shall arrange the letters to reveal the word. The
jumbled letters are as follow:
1. SLEWNLES
2. ODFO YDIMPRA
3. EROPPR NOIURTTNI
4. ERWTA
5. OANTRIIUTNL MERQTNIEUESR

I. Activity
The students will be tasked to create a record of what he eats for three consecutive
days. This will include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and other in-between snacks. This will be
written in a short bond paper and serve as their second activity.

II. Analysis
The teacher will ask the students to compare their Daily Meal Journal to the Food
Pyramid for Nutritional Requirements and let them determine if they’re meeting the
standards. Afterwards, the teacher will present an example of a meal journal and ask the
students to answer the following questions:
(Note: The Food Pyramid for Nutritional Requirements is posted on the board)

1. What food group in the Food Pyramid do you observe the greatest number of
servings?
2. What did Conrad eat that belong to this food group?
3. Which food group/s do you observe no servings?
4. Based on the Food Pyramid, how many servings from that group should Conrad
have eaten?
5. What should Conrad include in his meals to ensure that he gets all the nutrients in
the Food Pyramid?

III. Application
1. How will you ensure a healthy digestive system and maintain a good nutritional
status?
2. Whys is it important for us to meet the nutritional requirements?

IV. Abstraction
1. How important it is for a person to have a regular intake of water and foods rich in
fiber? What roles do it play?
2. What is Food Plate? How does it ensure proper nutrition?

V. Assessment
Directions: Below is a meal journal of Isaiah Gabriel. Analyze the table and answer
the questions that follow.

VI. Assignment
Search for some of the common diseases of the digestive system.
