DEDICATION

This project work is dedicated to God Almighty, the creator of heaven and the
earth, his son Jesus Christ and to those that has relentlessly and immensely
contributed to the success of this project work. I thank the sun of righteousness
(God) for his grace, wisdom, knowledge and understanding released upon me for
the completion of this thesis, and for keeping me safe all through the journey of my
HND programme in this institution. May his holy name be forever glorified.

ABSTRACT
This research work is designed to examine the Strategies for Improving
Management and Staff Relationship in Tertiary Institutions in Ekiti State. Positive
and valued relationship foster variety of beneficial outcomes for individual and
organization. Communicating with others for affection or inclusion eases frustration
and job related anxiety and stress, therefore, the need for the improvement of
relationship between the management and staff cannot be over emphasized because
positive work relationship help reduce turnover and increases performance by
providing functionality and career related benefits. Therefore the researcher
focused on this study so as to investigate whether reward system can improve
management and staff relationship in higher institution and also to identify different
strategies that must be adopted in order to maintain good relationship between
management and staff. The population consist of the employee in some institutions
in Ekiti state where five institutions were selected and thirty questionnaires were
distributed to the employee of the sampled institutions in Ekiti state. The findings
revealed that compensation and reward system can enhance the relationship
between the management and staff, there is no good communication link between
management and staff and that cooperation is a key strategy for improving
management and staff relationship. Based on the above findings, the study
concludes that gossiping and backbiting among employee and management in an
organization can have adverse effect on the relationship between the organization
and this can adversely affect the organizational performance. The study is thus
recommended that direct communication, Regular Seminar and symposium, good
communication skills and cordial relationship should be mentioned in building
relationship among organization. Therefore, organization should ensure these
strategies be adopted so as to boost the relationship, productivity and performance
of the organization.
