1. Introduction

Here is the new version of the Tebodin Process Toolbox. We have received a lot new items for the
Toolbox. Some of them are incorporated in the new version. The rest will be in the next version. So don’t
be disappointed if you do not find your item in the new version.

If you have some ideas about new items for the Toolbox or if you want to develop a new item yourself,

If you have some information about a subject and somebody is working on that subject, please sent your
information to that person. Please share your knowledge with all your colleagues.

2. Installation

The structure of the Toolbox is improved by Tijl Lavrijssen. What you need to know about the structure of
the Toolbox is described in the file “_Tebodin_Process_Toolbox_Manual.pdf”.

The most important change is that you can install the Toolbox wherever you what. In the old version you
were limited to the C:\Formula or D:\Formula.

Although you can install it any where you like, D:\Formula is still preferred location.

The Toolbox is changed significantly. Our advise is to remove the old version completely, to avoid
problems during installation of the new version.

3. New functions

In the file “Index of formula library.pdf” all modifications are marked. The following items are new in this
version:

Major new items:

 The following components are added to the HTRI-data base:

i. Toluene (HTRI-data base checked and changed where necessary)

ii. MarlothermSH
iii. MarlothermN
iv. MarlothermX
v. MarlothermLH
vi. Decaline

 Froude-number (can be used to design self venting pipe line)

 Pressure drop calculations. The existing functions can only be used for round pipes. New
functions are added using a hydraulic diameter.
 IDANSI / ODANSI. New pipe sizes and Schedules are added
 LenghtReducerValidDiameter_mm_RO. This function checks whether a given reducer
combination is standard-size or not.
 Functions for a Liquid control valve is changed. The new function can also be used in case of
laminair flow through the control valve.
 Functions for draining a vessel are added (FlowDrainVessel_kgs_RO &
VelocityDrainJet_ms_RO).
 Functions are added to calculate the water quality in case of cooling water (LSI_RO, RSI_RO,
Index_Scale_RO, Hardness_RO, Hardness_Scale_RO, AI_RO)
 Functions are added to design a Gas Solid Cyclone (Euler_RO,
DimensionsSGCyclone_mm_RO, CutDiameter_microm_RO, TotalCollEff_perc_RO,
dPSGCyclone_bar_RO, DiamSGCyclone_mm_RO, EffectiveNumberTurns_RO)
 DIPPR-data base containing the physical properties of 1030 components is added to the
Toolbox.
 Functions to calculate a ejector are added (Ejector_velocity_out_ms_RO,
Ejector_volume_out_m3h)
 Functioins to calculate a pressure drop for a Bingham fluid is added (FricCWBinghamTurb_RO,
dPLiquidBingham_RO)
 Functions to calculate the isentropic exponent of Hydrocarbons, Air and Steam are added
 Functions to calculate the wetted area according API 2000 and API 521 are added
 Functions to calculate the heat input to a vessel according API 521 is added
 Functions to calculate the required relieve rate in case of a fire according API 521 (for gas and
liquid) are added.
 Functions to design a flare stack according API 421 are added.
 Function to calculate the mol weight form a Molecular Formula is added.
 A function for linear interpolation is added

4. Lists and Sheets

In the new version all lists and data sheets from SharePortal are incorporated.

5. Standard Calculations

The following new standard calculations are added:

 Flare Stack calculation according API 521

This calculation is based on the calculation which can be found on SharePortal.

 Gas Solid Cyclone calculation

 Physical properties from Toolbox

The HTRI-data base and the DIPPR data base are incorporated in the Toolbox. With this
program you can compare the physical properties from the two data bases and compare it with
actual data.

6. Stand alone Standard Calculations

Some clients want too have a “Stand alone calculation”. This is not preferred. A lot of time and
knowledge is required to develop the Toolbox. A “Stand alone”-version is available for some standard
calculations. Use these calculations only when the client demands a “Stand alone calculation”. These
calculations are identical to the normal version which is working under the library. Only the necessary
functions are added to the Excel-file.

7. Calculations by others

A new item in the toolbox is handy Excel-files made by other companies. Use these program with care.
These programs are not tested.

8. Help Tebodin Toolbox

The functionality is improved significantly by Tijl Lavrijssen. Everything you need to know about the
program can be found in the file “_Tebodin_Process_Toolbox_Manual.pdf”. If you want additional

9. Unhide All Worksheets

Some Standard calculations have some hidden worksheets. A macro is added to Unhide all hidden
worksheets.

10. Remove All Links

If you receive an Excel-file from a person who have installed the Toolbox in a different folder as you,
your Excel-file contains many undesired links. With this macro you can remove these links quite easily.
For this reason we prefer that everybody install the toolbox in “D:\formula”.

11. Handy programs

A folder is added to the toolbox containing all kinds of useful programs: see folder “D:\Formula\Handy
programs”.

12. Handy add ins.

A folder is added to the toolbox containing all kinds of useful Excel add-ins: see folder
“D:\Formula\Handy Additional Add-ins”.
