1. Product Concept

In February 2014 Konica Minolta is going to launch two new color A4 devices which will extend the A4 portfolio
about two multifunctional workgroup as well as desktop and department office models.

The bizhub C3850 (Venus1 MFP) and bizhub C3350 (Venus2 MFP) are designed for for Medium to Large
Workgroups. Offices for which an A3 machine is too large and for which the A4 MFP can be used as a central
device with rich functionality and high productivity. Due to various service features as for example CSRC, OpenAPI
and PSES both devices will perfectly fit for projects mixed with A3/A4 devices and applications.
As the new A4 MFP's will incorporate common functionalities and usability, Konica Minolta will be finally able to
fulfill enhanced customer demands within (G)MA, tender and OPS businesses.

The new A4 color MFP and could become a replacement of A3 low segment MFP, as they are unified with A3 MFP.

1) Realization of UI following the concept of A3 MFP's and its operability by using

the 7 inch touch panel, which has an affinity with that of A3.

 -Adoption of the InfoPalette design concept of A3 MFP.

 -IWS (browser) is scheduled to be supported additionally one year after release (Oct. 2014.)

2) Realization of low CPP (Cost Per Print) by adopting 2 components developing method
and increasing the amount of toner.

3) To enable a replacement of competitor’s A3 machines of customers with low PV

the following items are scheduled to be implemented:

 -Increase the capacity of standard cassette. (550 sheets)

 -Add a simplified stapler as spare part.
 -Additional support of inner finisher option one year after release (Oct. 2014)

4) Maintain a small installation space (like Citrine-MFP) as beneficial for replacement of competitor’s
A4 and A3 machines.

2. Service Policy

Improve product reliability from the field results of the predecessor model Citrine as a top priority

Achieve profitable CPP even on-site support for these printer is required by tender business
 measures like extending the lifetime of consumables and PM parts.

Improvement of Reliability
Reduction and minimization for the cost per printing by the attainment of the numerical target

Principal points for technical improvement

1. Fax board as good as A3 color MFP
2. Improvement in image quality and reliability with dual component developing system
3. Newly developed controller, catching up A3 color MFP
4. Important quality problems for C35 are fixed such as 0094 error

Expedite Field Problem Processing

Improve and stabilize the product quality by solving field problems quickly based on firm cooperation
with the sales companies and related sections in KMI. Periodical follow meetings with sales
companies are under consideration.

Share the Service Related Field Information

To share field support information, TAD and TNI of through CSES will be issued by KMI.
To escalate field problem to KMI, all sales companies will submit PER and IQR through CSES.

The following items should be needed for escalations.

KMI will share the review report on 3/6/12 months from the product release.

Important - minimized On-Site service utilizing PPLM+CSRC

From the field result of bizhub C35 (Citrine-mfp), it becomes clear that service profitability of color A4
MFP is in severe situation compared to that of color A3 MFP. Low revenue (due to lower PV/M) and high
PM related cost (due to shorter unit life) are the main cause. To reduce Parts Maintenance related cost
and secure service profitability, PPLM function as well as A3MFP (No Life Display/ No Life Stop feature)
has become available for Venus mfp (bizhub C3850/C3350).

The following description shows the way to utilize PPLM with CSRC, therefore, please fully take
advantage of them to reduce the service costs.

PPLM： No Life Display/ No Life Stop feature. Set as default for BJ/BUS/BEU

For Citrine-mfp, IU life extension function has been supported as firmware maintenance release.
Even with this function, the IU need to have a Life Stop (due to single component developing
system constraint).

◆ For 70% customers, Color-IU/ Transfer Belt/ Transfer Roller/ Fuser are substantially permanent.
Almost 5-year yield for these units will be expected with PPLM at sales target customer condition
（Venus1：PV/M3000, color ratio: 20%, color: 1P/J） - please refer to Table-1.

From bizhub C35 field results, take ppm difference into account, it is assumed that 70% customers
are within the target PV. The possibility of permanent use will be high with lower PV/M, lower color
ratio, lower machine life (ex. 4-year lease contract).

◆ Unit replacement should be done according to User Expectation

With PPLM, Life Display/ Life Stop will not be shown on the operation panel.
On the other hand, CSRC will inform you of 1st_call for Life and 2nd_call for Life Stop (Figure-1).

These alerts are only “signs” and never force you to replace units (especially for Bk-IU).
Unit replacement should be done according to the user expectation with enough care for unit life
values (can be monitored via CSRC Web Application shown in Figure-2).

◆ Ensure customer’s replacement for Toner Bottle and Waste Toner Box
These are designed as CRU (easily replaced by customers), therefore, CRU policy (be sent to
customers, be replaced by customers, No service visit) must be ensured.

 FYI, Toner Near Empty/ Waste Toner Box Near Full are set as default as follows:

Note:
Standard paper weight for systems is 80 g/m2 for monochrome machines and 90 g/m² for full color machines.
Since using these standards result in optimum system performance, all specifications on performance, reliability,
maintenance and replacement based on those standard papers. Using thick papers, labels, transfer and polyester
films continuously can increase the wear and tear on replacement parts and consumables - meaning your servicing
costs will go up. Use the bypass or the lower tray from the paper feed unit when working with materials having such
characteristics as polyester films, textile transfer films and labels. Otherwise, you may be faced with double feeding
or a higher number of feeding jams. If possible use subtray when working with materials having such
characteristics as polyester films, textile transfer films and labels. Rollermarks on the copy or print may appear or
increased jams can occur. Standard paper weights yield the best possible copy and print results. Using higher
grammatures may influence the quality of the output. Using standard paper weights also guarantees that double
sided copies and prints are made reliably. Different characters of films as well as thick, thin and coated papers may
increase the jam rate for double sided copies and prints.

MFPB/ PRCB of EEP-ROM is newly added on MFPB.
C35(Citrine-mfp) As a result, there are 3 parts in all. (MFPB, EEP-ROM, and SSD).

EEP-ROM：
Counter information, Mac Address, backup data from PRCB are stored on EEP-ROM..
In case that MFPB has trouble and needs to be replaced, original EEP-ROM will be set on new
MFPB and be countinuously used. Therefore, Mac Address is the unique information of EEP-
ROM and will be kept even after MFPB is replaced.
Currently, there is no plan of providing EEP-ROM as spare part.
In case that EEP-ROM breaks, both MFPB and EEP-ROM need to be replaced
(EEP-ROM is bundled with spare MFPB).

SSD board：
Firmwares are stored on SSD.
Will be provided as spare part.
(SSD is NOT bundled with spare MFPB)
