INSTALLATION

Automatic analyser must be installed in closed environment, adequately protected from

atmospheric agents, on a predisposed plan, of the opportune dimensions to allow an easy
use.
In case of insufficient illumination, it's necessary to provide with the installation of a
system of illumination appropriated, in order to make the user able to act under normal
light conditions.

MAROCHE s.r.l. does not charge responsibilities for the use of the analyser in incorrect
environment.

Always leave an appropriate free space around the instrument, to

allow an easy managing of the strip-loader.

For the instrument installation, arrange a point of lacing to the electric grid with a ground
connection and protected from short-circuits, as told by safety normative anticipated in
subject; the characteristics of instrument electric supply are pointed out in the electric
schemes.

The instrument is equipped of electric plant as dictated by the law 46/90 in safety law.

To set pipetting position you need:

- put a disposable-tip on the 1° position;
- position correctly the well that want to set and introduce completely the strip;
- select the well type that you want to set;
- select the position that you want to set in “well” panel;
- press ”LOAD TIP” button ,to take the disposable-tip;
- press “TRY” button;
Mechanical arm will be positioned on the selected well, if the arm is not in the correct
position for descending in cuvette modify the number that is found in the box “OFFSET
POSITION”, increasing or decreasing the value. Pressing "TRY" you’ll have a move toward
right or left (the values don't have to overcome the Range of 10-89). When you have found
the correct position press the button “ SAVE TO HARD DISK “ to memorize the modify.
Repeat this procedure for all the wells to set.

To set the well descent you need to act on the value that is found in the box “TIP
DESCENT”. Choose well type in the proper panel and then set the descent for that type of
wells, doing this procedure type-by-type.
When you have found the correct value press the button “SAVE TO HARD DISK“ to
memorize and send in eeprom through the special button "LOAD TO EEPROM" and wait
the data to be transmitted. Repeat this procedure for all the wells types to set.

right or left (the values don't have to overcome the Range of 10-89). Do this until the
reference line in the side of the strip (in level with the center of the selected wells)
coincides with reference line in optic group (450). (see figure 5)

When you have found the correct position press the button “SAVE TO HARD DISK “ to
memorize the change, and send in eeprom through the special button "LOAD TO
EEPROM", and wait the data to be transmitted before doing other operations.
Repeat this procedure for all the position to set.

Varying the contained value in the window “Wells sensibility” you change the sensibility of
the well check. To a small number corresponds a small sensibility.

Varying the contained value in the windows “ABS” and “ABS620” you’ll correct eventual
mistakes in wells absorbance reading.

Pressing on “Blank Position 450” or “Blank Position 620” (switchable to edit primary or
secondary wavelengths) you can set offset position of blank. If the arm is not in the correct
position for descending in cuvette modify the number that is found in the box “OFFSET
Blank 450” or “OFFSET Blank 620”, increasing or decreasing the value, until the reference
line in the center of the selected wells coincides with reference line in optic group (450).
When you have found the correct position press the button “SAVE TO HARD DISK“ to
memorize the change, and send in eeprom through the special button "LOAD TO
EEPROM", and wait the data to be transmitted before doing other operations.
Repeat this procedure for all the position to set.

Buttons “LOOP READ“ and “SINGLE READ” serve both to read the signal on the optical
receiver, difference that the LOOP READING , consists in a series of readings which can be
gone out only pressing the button "reset" placed in the Gene-MG 164 anterior panel .

Temperature Panel has 2 options: Pressing “37°C” will take incubator temperature to 37°C;
25° C will take incubator temperature to 25°C (when the machine is switched on the
temperature is normally set to 25°C)

To set the washing positions do as listed below:

- correctly position the wells that want to set;
- introduce completely the strip-loader;
- select the type of used well;
- select the first position in “well panel”;
- press the button “TRY”;
The washer has to be
how much more to possible in the center.
When you have found the correct position press the button “SAVE TO HARD DISK“ to
memorize the change, and send in eeprom through the button "LOAD TO EEPROM."
Repeat this procedure for all the positions to set.

To set the washer well descent, is necessary to act on the box “WASHING DESCEND”,
you’re advised to use the position n°15 to effect these settings.
For the descend it is worthwhile to bring the washer up to the well fund in way that touch
as soon as. Choose well type in the proper panel and then set the descent for that type of

For setting the washer descend in the hydraulic-filling procedure position is necessary act
on the value in the window “HYDRA. FILLING DESCEND”; to a great number it corresponds
a great descend, Set it in order to make the washer inside the hole for ¾ of his length at
least.
For setting the disposable-tip position, regarding to the hydraulic-filling place , is necessary
act in the window "OFFSET TIP POSITION”, in the box “HYDRAULIC FILLING”, increasing or
decreasing the value will be had a position variation (the values don't have to exceed the
Range of 10-89).
For setting the disposable-tip descent in the hydraulic-filling position, insert wash buffer
tank in correct way (refer to figure 6), is necessary act in the window “OFFSET TIP
DESCEND”, in the box “HYDRAULIC FILLING”, increasing or decreasing the value will be had
a position variation (the values don’t have to exceed the Range of 10-89)

For setting the disposable-tip position in the washing solution , is necessary act in the
window “OFFSET TIP POSITION”, in the box “WASH BUFFER POSITION”, increasing or
decreasing the value will be had a position variation (the values don’t have to exceed the

For setting pippetting volume you need:

- put 2 wells in the 1° and 2° position;
- put a disposable-tip in the 1° position;
- put into 1st reagent position a reagent cuvette filled with the exact quantity
reported in the grey box in the higher part of panel;
- introduce completely the strip-loader;
- select the volume that you want set;
- press the button “LOAD TIP”;
- press the button “TRY”;

Mechanical arm will distribute inside the two wells the suitable select quantity (through a
pipette of precision the technician will be able to measure the quantity), therefore
modifying the number that is found in the box “OFFSET POSITION”, increasing or
decreasing the value will be had a variation of the volume (the values don't have to
overcome the Range of 1-89).
When you found the correct value press the button “SAVE TO HARD DISK“ to memorize
the change, and press “LOAD TO EEPROM” button
Repeat this procedure for all the position to set.
Into “VALVE” box you find 2 buttons to test three-ways valve of pipetting system.
