Unit Name: Unit -3 Methodology of Teaching Physical Science Standard: B.Ed. -1st year (2016-18) Summary of Unit: Different type of methods used in teaching of physical science- Lecture, Demonstration, project,laboratory, Problem solving etc. Different types of techniques used in the teaching of physical science- Team teaching, computer assisted teaching, Excursions, science museums, science club, science fair, science projects, Different micro-teaching skills- Introduction, Reinforcement, Probing Question, Stimulus variation, Explaning, Black-board writing skills, use of ICT in teaching learning process of physical science. Objectives: - To enable pupil teacher to describe and use the various approaches/methods of teaching science. - To enable pupil teacher to elaborate the advantages and disadvantages of each method. - To enable pupil teacher to identify when to use a certain method with reason. - To enable pupil teacher to differentiate various approaches from one another. - To enable pupil teacher to understand the importance of different skills. - To enable pupil teacher to develop different skills. Dates: (10,11,14,15,16 Nov) Assignment and Activities: 1. Identify a problem for an investigatory project. Write the plan of action. Carry out the project and write the project report. 2. Compare two different methods of teaching with their merits and demerits. Which one is best for teaching science? Evaluation: Class Test, Discussion. Notes: The teaching method helps student to realize the target course objectives. A good alignment between the teaching method and the other components of the learning environment.
