Hello peers,

There are different systems, levels, and classifications of the roles in the companies. Also,
different kinds of mangers due to the different and the specific roles of each company. However,
management stills have the same definition. The textbook defines management as “The art of
getting things done through the efforts of other people.”( Bauer et al ,2, 2010).I have never work
as a manger but I can put myself in the shoes of a manager and explain what this definition
means in the context of a company operation.
Management is not easy and not any one can do it. It needs leadership skills and abilities to
make strategies and puts plans and instructions for others (employees) to do the work and
achieve the goals of the company. The manger cannot do all the kinds of role of the different
positions of the company because each position needs specific abilities, knowledge, and skills.
For example, assuming that I am a manger of a restaurant. As the manager of the restaurant that
does not mean I am able to cook or serve food. In the restaurant there are different kinds of
employees. There is chef, waiter, cleaner, and accountant. And as the manger, I make the
strategies to make better serves. I choose good and high skill employees, I give the role for each
employee, give instructions, make finial plans, and make sure that each employee done his work
within the given time.
For a typical day of a restaurant manager, I go to work at the time. I check that all the employees
are there starting their work. I check that the t food ingredients are available, fresh, and good. I
be sure that the cleaner does cleaning, the chef cooks the orders, and waiter serves food at time.
Also, I reserve e complaints and suggestions of the customers to improve the quality of the
restaurant services and satisfy the customers’ need.

That is easy to understand explanation. What you said is so true...Managers cannot do
everything, so they need to give specific tasks for their employees. When I work that is
something I keep forgetting. It was a great reminder. Thanks!
