“Globalization: An Inescapable Phenomenon”

Years had passed and there have been a lot of technological progress and
advances in international relationships and it seems like the world is more connected
than ever. Globalization is a very common word we often encounter in different books,
lectures, issues, and also used in our conversations. We may have knowledge that such
word exist, but do we really know what it really means? Or is there is still something
about the concept of “Globalization” that we haven’t realized? Does it only result into
positive outcomes or something unfavorable might come out? And most importantly, is
globalization something we can prevent?
Accordingly, Globalization is a term used to describe the growing interdependence of
the world’s economies, cultures, and populations, brought about by the cross-border
trade in goods and services, technology, and flows investment, people, and information.
Globalization is a worldwide phenomenon because it is something that occurs or
something that is observable not just for a certain country but all over the whole world.
Due to these range of effects of globalization, it benefits the society as a whole, on the
other hand, it also harms certain groups. It is evident to us that humans have already
practiced the concept of globalization from the past through trading or exchanging
goods and services with other countries. Globalization has also been a great outlet for
prosperity and peace. Certain countries had agreed to be active and to help build a
global economic order governed by mutually accepted rules and overseen by certain
institutions. They have done this in order to create a better world which certainly every
country would want to have, for prosperity and peace. Globalization also encourages to
specialize in their comparative advantage or what they produces the best. This result in
more efficient production, and lowers the prices of goods and services for the benefit of
all. Better quality and variety of products are also out in the market. Globalization also
gave way in order to reach those fellowmen living in the far-flung areas.
Globalization is not only good for the future, it is also inevitable. Globalization
may have helped international relationship to grow, but there are also unfavorable
outcomes out of it that would most likely to occur. Believe it or not, terrorism is one
adverse effect of globalization. We are able to reach different countries in just a short
period of time which made it easier for terrorist to attack. Aside from this, price
instability is another significant effect of globalization on businesses. Certain materials
are readily available from different countries at a cheaper price. Due to competition,
homogeneous products’ prices tend to have significant difference.
Globalization do really results in different improvements from the different
countries. But whatever improvement or advances it is, there always exist what we call
as globalization. It is something that we cannot escape especially with the vast
improvement in technology. It made us communicate other nations in just a click.
Whatever changes that might happen in the near future, each one of us should be ready
to adapt and accept it.
