COURSE TITLE : AIR DUCT SERVICING NC II

NOMINAL DURATION : 596 hours

COURSE DESCRIPTION :

This course is designed to equip individual with knowledge, operational skills and
attitudes in repair and maintenance of air duct system in heating, ventilating, air
conditioning and refrigeration system. It includes fabrication, assembly, and installation of
air ducts and other ducting works.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Before entering this course, the learner must be able to:

 Communicate both orally and in written form


 Install window type air conditioning/domestic refrigeration units
 Service and maintain window type air conditioning/domestic refrigeration units
 Troubleshoot window type air conditioning/domestic refrigeration units
 Perform testing and commissioning window type air conditioning/domestic refrigeration
system

 Must have undergone training on Training Methodology II or equivalent


training/experience
 He must be a holder of AIR DUCT SERVICING NC II or equivalent
qualification/experience

 Must be a Civil Service eligible (for government position or appropriate professional
license issued by the Professional Regulatory Board)

2. All connections or joints are sealed according to air duct requirements.
3. Work is undertaken in line with safety requirements.
4. Waste materials are disposed in accordance with established disposal
procedures.

5. Work is undertaken in line with safety rules and regulations.

MODULE TITLE : REPAIRING AND MAINTAINING AIR DUCT SYSTEM

MODULE DESCRIPTOR : This module covers the knowledge, skills and attitudes
required to repair and maintain air ducts system in
accordance with Duct Construction Standards.

NOMINAL DURATION : 40 hours

PREREQUISITE : Before entering this module the student must be able to:

1. Install air duct system


2. Perform air duct testing
3. Insulate air ducts

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:

1. Appropriate manufacturer's manual is selected prior to repair and maintenance.


2. Visual inspection of air duct system is performed and any signs of fault/damage
are recorded.
3. Data is analyzed and assessed according to system requirements.
4. Relevant forms and documents are secured and accomplished according to
established procedures.
5. Appropriate PPE is selected in line with safety rules and regulations.

2. Faults and damages are identified and diagnosed in accordance with system
requirements.
3. Faulty components are repaired/replaced according to design.
4. Tools and equipment are selected according to required tasks.
5. Work is undertaken in line with safety requirements including use of appropriate
PPE.

activities.
2. Testing tools and instruments are prepared in accordance with system
requirements.
3. Visual inspection and adjustment is performed according to established
procedures.
4. Testing is performed according to air duct system principles and requirements.
5. Air distribution systems are checked and airflows are balanced according to
established procedures.
6. Maintenance records/service reports are accomplished in accordance with
standard policies and procedures.

What is Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC)

 A competency-based curriculum is a framework or guide for the


subsequent detailed development of competencies, associated
methodologies, training and assessment resources.

 The CBC specifies the outcomes which are consistent with the
requirements of the workplace as agreed through the industry or
community consultations.

 CBC can be developed immediately when competency standards exist.

 When competency standards do not exist, curriculum developers need


to clearly define the learning outcomes to be attained. The standard of
performance required must be appropriate to industry and occupational
needs through the industry/enterprise or specified client group
consultations.
