1. What is DCS?
Digital Competency Score (DCS) is a gamified instrument to assess digital competency levels of
students in three(3) domains, namely Technology, Cognitive and Digital Citizenship.
Students in selected primary and secondary schools from all over the country sit for DCS every
year. The findings are summarised and presented to the Ministry of Education (MOE).

2. Roles
Everyone has a role to play to ensure the smooth implementation of DCS.

1. Admin
o Admins are stakeholders of DCS, i.e. users from BTP, BTPN, PKG, JPN, MDEC and
the developer.
o There are 3 levels of Admin:
i. Master Admin: In charge of the overall implementation of DCS.
ii. State Admin: In charge of the implementation of DCS at state level.
iii. PKG Admin: In charge of the implementation of DCS at PKG level.
o Functions of Admins include:
i. Creating accounts for selected schools and their school managers.
ii. Monitoring the progress of schools and students during the assessment period.
2. School Manager
o The School Manager is the person who is primarily responsible to manage the
implementation of DCS in his/her school. The School Manager also acts as the point of
contact between the school and Admins.
o Functions of a School Manager include:
i. Setting up the school account by logging in using the school code.
ii. Creating accounts for teachers who will be in charge of selected classes/students
by generating a set of temporary username and password for each teacher.
iii. Monitoring the progress of classes and students to ensure that all students
complete the assessment as scheduled.
3. Teacher
o A Teacher is responsible to ensure that all students in his/her selected classes
complete the assessment as scheduled.
o Functions of a Teacher include:
i. Setting up his/her account by logging in with the temporary username and
password supplied by the School Manager.
ii. Creating the classes involved in DCS.
iii. Creating accounts for all students involved by entering their fullname and
MyKad/MyKid numbers.
iv. Monitoring the progress of classes and students to ensure that all students
complete the assessment as scheduled.
4. Student
o Each student should log in and complete the assessment as scheduled.
o Functions of a Student include:
i. Logging in with his/her MyKad/MyKid number as the username and using the last
four(4) digit of his/her MyKad/MyKid number as the password.
ii. Completing all stages and answering all questions given in the game.
iii. Saving and/or printing the certificate of completion and claiming the digital badge
(if an average score of 3 or more is attained).
School Admin
Logging In
1. At the home page, key in the Username and Password.
2. Click Login.

Creating Schools
1. Click School Management.
2. To simplify the keying in of the list of schools involved, you can prepare the school
list using Microsoft Excel and import the file into the system. Click Excel Sample to
download the Excel template.
3. Open the Excel file and fill in the school code, school name and state whether the
school was selected from IKM, SSQS or other sources. Don't forget to save the file
once you are done.
4. Click Import Schools from MS Excel and select the Excel fail that you have
prepared. The list of the schools will appear.
5. To create the schools one at a time, click Create New School.
6. Key in all the required information..
7. Click Create. The name of the school that you have just created will appear.
8. Inform the School Managers to login using the School Code as the username and
password.

Monitoring Progress
1. Click Progress to keep track of the progress of the assessment.
2. You can view the progress by State (for State Admins), School, Class and Student.
3. Click Leaderboard to view the top schools and students.

School Manager
Logging In
1. At the home page, key in your School Code as the Username and Password.
2. Make sure you use CAPITAL LETTERS for the School Code.
3. Click Login.

Creating Teachers
You need to key in the names of the teachers who will be assigned to run the assessments with
the classes involved.

1. Click Teachers.
2. Click Create New Teacher.
3. Fill in the name of the teacher and click Create.
4. The name of the teacher appears. Pass the temporary username and password to
the teacher. The teachers involved will be responsible to key in the list of students in
their respective classes.
Monitoring Progress
1. Click Progress to keep track of the progress of the assessment.
2. You can view the progress by Teacher, Class and Student.

Teacher
Logging In
1. At the home page, key in the temporary Username and Password that you have
received from the School Manager.
2. Click Login.
3. Key in your MyKad number.
4. Click Save.
5. Your new Username is your MyKad number and your new Password is the last
four(4) digits of your myKad number.
6. Click Ok.
7. Fill in your name, email address and contact number.
8. Click Save.

Creating Students
1. Click Student Management.
2. Click Create New Class.
3. Fill in the Class Name and Level.
4. Click Create New Class. The name of the classes that you have just created
appears.
5. To add students to the class, click Students.

7. Open the Excel file and fill in the student namesand MyKad/MyKid numbers. Don't
forget to save the file once you are done.
8. Click Import Students Excel and select the Excel fail that you have prepared. The
list of students will appear.
9. To register the students one at a time, click Create New Student.
10. Click Create. The name of the student that you have just created will appear.
11. When it is time to conduct the assessment, instruct the students to use their
MyKad/MyKid number as their username, and the last four(4) digit of their
MyKad/MyKid number as their password.

1. Click Progress to keep track of the progress of the assessment.
2. You can view the progress by Class and Student.

Student
Logging In
1. At the home page, key in the your MyKad/MyKid number as the Username and the
last four(4) digits of your myKad/MyKid number as Password.
2. Click Login.

Start Playing and Answering


1. Click Play.
2. Follow the instructions on every screen. Make sure that you answer and complete all
stages.
