Lii An : Good morning to Puan Nuraini and my fellow classmates. Today, me

and my friend Shao
Hen is going to have an exchange of ideas about the causes of water
pollution and its
solution.

Shao Hen : As you all know, water is one of the most important natural
resource on Earth. It is vital
for our survival, as well as for billions of other animals. So, how
can we make sure that
our water is safe and protected ?

Lii An : One of the best ways to do this is to remove wastes properly. Oil, paint,
and chemicals
houldall be properlydisposed and not just dumped down to the drain,
thrown away, or
spilled on the ground.

Shao Hen: We should also be aware about our trash, and don't litter. Follow a
recycling program to
reduce the amount of garbage that is being sent to dumps.
Remember that running water
can carry garbage to the ocean, where they have the potential of
harming wildlife.

Lii An : Letting our government know that we are concerned about the industrial
waste that is
dumped into oceans is also important. This is one of the most serious
forms of ocean
pollution. Encourage companies to use cleaner ways to treat and dispose
of waste.

Shao Hen : The most obivious reason that we should protect our oceans and
rivers are that pollution
can effect the entire food chain. Many pollutants can kill large
populations of smaller
marine animals and fishes , which are then no longer available for
larger animals and us
to eat, leading to more deaths.

Lii An : As this chain continues, the populations of larger animals reduce, leading
to the shortage of
market supplies. Pollutants such as mercury and methane can also make
our food unsafe to
be eaten.
Shao Hen : One of the best ways to protect the planet is to prevent ocean pollution.
Learning more about
how you can help to prevent ocean pollution and realizing it on your daily
life is one of the best
things you can do to make the world a cleaner place.

Lii An : Cutting down on water use and being careful about any chemicals that come in
contact with water
supplies are only three of the many ways to make our world a better, cleaner
place for us to live in.
