Homework - STAN

Objectives
1. · List the STAN components and their asset codes.
2. · Describe the sensor and channel calibrations procedure.
3. Describe how to acquire and process the STAN data.

Details
 ·Referring to the STAN Online Training and your STAN notes and the practical tasks,
answer the following questions.

Find the answer to the following questions, and be prepared for small verbal test in the morning:

Safety
1. IS – What is it?
2. Which parts are IS, which not?
3. What can be connected in a safe, zone 1, or zone 2 areas?

Description and Specifications

1. How many channels can be acquired by the STAF in normal, standard configuration?
2. How many channels could the STAF acquire if additional IS barriers were added?
3. What is firmware, where is it stored, and what type of memory is used to store it?
4. What comprises a standard set of STAN equipment?
5. What can we acquire with a standard sensor set?
6. What if we have a special job – eg 2 separators, 4 separators, 2 choke manifolds – what
would we need?
7. Theory
8. What is the difference between 4-20mA and frequency style sensor?
9. How do we connect the two types to the STAF?
10. What is the difference between a Delta and Sensotec pressure sensor?
11. What is the URV and LRV of a Delta sensor?
12. How do we change the URV/LRV? Should we change the LRV – if so what to?
13. How do you calculate coefficients for a set URV / LRV?
14. What about the coefficients for the temperatures, differential pressure, separator
pressure?
15. Why do we calibrate the STAF channels? When?
16. What does a 4-20mA channel calibration affect? – in SP and on the data between SP
display and sensor?
17. How do we correct the current from a Delta sensor?

DART Software
1. RT and PB – what are the differences? How do we correct a flow rate in RT?
2. What are the globals or parameters required for DART to correct flow rates fully? How
do you input?
3. How do we correct for a CMF? Two ways?
4. How about for a standard Shrinkage and Water Meter Factor?
5. How do we configure DART for a Stan job?
6. What is the STAN.log file for?

WCP/FTC A.Rodriguez
7. Where are the STAF calibration files – what directory?
8. The STAN task has a number of color codes for sensor connectivity – what are they and
what do they mean?
9. Conversion of data from the Hard Disk (JINT) to Client Data – what are the formula
and parameters used?
10. Coefficients – how do you think will errors in coefficients affect flow rates?

Operation
1. What can go wrong with the data?
2. If sensor is reading different to Software display – what could be wrong?
3. If sensor is not powered up – what could be wrong?
4. If sensor fails, how will you record necessary data?
5. If have to connect water Floco what would you do?
6. Why do we need to be careful with the acquisition rate of data from the floco and
rotron? Is there a maximum?
