make sure that the version of this manual is compatible with the product in your hand.
WARNING!
During operation of electrical equipment, certain parts of these devices are under high voltage.
Severe personal injury or significant equipment damage could result from improper behavior.
Only qualified personnel should work on this equipment or in the vicinity of this equipment. These
personnel must be familiar with all warnings and service procedures described in this manual, as
well as safety regulations.
In particular, the general facility and safety regulations for work with high-voltage equipment must
be observed. Noncompliance may result in death, injury, or significant equipment damage.
WARNING!
Exposed terminals
Do not touch the exposed terminals of this equipment while the power is on, as the high voltage
generated is dangerous
Residual voltage
Hazardous voltage can be present in the DC circuit just after switching off the DC power supply. It
CAUTION!
Earth
Operating environment
The equipment must only be used within the range of ambient environment detailed in the
specification and in an environment free of abnormal vibration.
Ratings
Before applying the DC power supply to the equipment, check that they conform to the equipment
ratings.
Do not attach and remove printed circuit boards when DC power to the equipment is on, as this
may cause the equipment to malfunction.
External circuit
When connecting the output contacts of the equipment to an external circuit, carefully check the
supply voltage used in order to prevent the connected circuit from overheating.

1 Introduction
1.1 Application
RCS-9665 is used in a protection panel which is powered by duplex DC feeding: one is main
power supply while the other one is stand-by power system; they are required to be isolated from
each other. When both two power system are normally working and input voltage of main power
supply is higher than its nominal output voltage, load is powered by main power system while the
stand-by one is in readiness; if the input voltage of main power system is lower than its output
nominal voltage, load is powered by stand-by power supply. Once one of the two power systems
is failed, load is automatically transferred to another power system without any disturbance on
load.
1.2 Features
The equipment is an IEC standard 2U high and 19”wide rack with modular structure. It has
features of compact design, high security, flexibility and convenience.
Sealed relays with high impedance and low power dissipation are used in this relay set. As a
result, the power dissipation and heating is reduced largely, moisture proof is improved, ensuring
a long life even in extreme mechanical and ambient conditions.
The nominal voltage and device type shall be claimed clearly when ordering.

3 Operation Theory
Input of stand-by power
system
Figure 3-1 Schematic Diagram
Input voltage range of both the main power system and stand-by power system is ± 20% of the
device nominal output voltage. A DC/DC inslating converter whose output is constantly 5V higher
than the device nominal voltage is designed for the input of standy-by system, which absolutedly
makes the main power system isolated from the stand-by power system. Refer to Figure 3-1. A
well-designed switchover unit makes power supply switchover seamlessly without any
disturbance on load.
If the input of main power system is more than 5V higher than nominal voltage, switchover unit will
make it as the currently feeder system, i.e. other devices monunted in the protection panel are
supplied by main power system.
If the input of main power system is lower than the nominal input voltage, switchover unit will
make stand-by power system as the currently feeder system, i.e. other devices monunted in the
protection panel are supplied by stand-by power system.
If the input of main power system is constant 5V higher than the device nominal input voltage, i.e.
it equals to DC/DC inslating converter’
s output of stand-by power system, switchover unit will
make both of them as the currently feeder systems, so other devices mounted in the protection
panel are supplied by both standy-by power system and main power system.
Since nominal output power of the stand-by power system is 300W, it is recommended that the
device should work on an output power 240W as a consideration of redundancy if stand-by power
system works. As the efficiency of the stand-by power system is 90%, input power of the stand-by
power system must be above 330W to ensure a nominal output power 300W. In addition, a
radiator fan is equipped for cooling DC/DC coverter when output power of the stand-by power
system is greater than 100W.
Make sure that the model of relay set matches the order data.
4.2 Storage
The device shall be kept in the original package. And a dry, cool and ventilated place is required
during storage.
4.3 Installation
Front view, rear view, panel cutout and top view of the device are presented in Figure 4.3-1、
Figure 4.3-2、Figure 4.3-3 and Figure 4.3-4 respectively as a reference for installation.

4.3.1 Terminals
Terminals’definition of the device is shown in Figure 4.3-5.
When both two power system works normally, LEDs designated as “RUN”in the faceplate are on;
as any of the two power supply systems is failed, corresponding LED designated as “ALARM”in
the faceplate is on, at the same time normal closed contact of alarm relay is closed to issue an
annunciation signal. Corresponding power supply system should be checked to clear the fault.
Carry out a visual inspection, in order to make sure that the relay set has not been damaged.
4.4.2 Choices
Make the options according to the application specification, please refer to 4.
4.5 Maintenance
It is recommended that a periodic test program be followed. Given that the intervals between
these tests vary for different types of relays and installations as well as the experience of the user
performing the tests, it is recommended that the relay is tested at least every 3 years.
For the sake of eliminating heat, when the stand-by power system supplies other devices
mounted in the protection panel and its power consumption is greater than100 Watts, the radiator
fan mounted in the device must work. Thereby, whether the radiator fan works normally should be
checked during an overhaul by disconnecting main power system, assu ring that other devices
mounted in the protection panel are supplied by stand-by power system, and checking if the fan
works. If the fan doesn’
t work, please confirm whether the total power consumed by other devices
mounted in the protection panel is greater than 100 Watts.
