Disclaimer

The names of eight companies are adapted from real companies: Trump Organization, Macrsoft, Nike, Berkshire Hathaway,
Carrefour, Adidas, City Development Ltd and Apple. The names and pictures of four CEOs are adapted from the real names
of these people: Donald Trump, Warren Buffet, Bill Gate, Mr. Bean.

The adaption is only for the mean of fun. We apologize to the companies and the people aforementioned for any
inconvenience caused by the adaption in this game.

World war lll - War of the CEOs

Introduction

The game is designed with an aim to introduce relevant knowledge of Corporate Financial Services to secondary pupils and
polytechnic students who do not have financial knowledge . The difficulty level of the game is pitched at their level and will
be a fun and educational game for all.

For secondary students, we are confident that this will improve their general knowledge, stimulate their interest in banking
and finance, and hopefully they would find out more about Ngee Ann‛s BFS course.

For other students without background in finance, the game gives them a glimpse of how companies raise capital and much
more. As Singapore‛s economy is developed, these methods of financing are getting more sophisticated and yet they can
affect the company‛s share price. The knowledge that students gain from this game can help them understand what
activities a company is engaging to obtain finance. Since these activities (such as IPO, rights issue) may affect share price,
the knowledge will also assist them when they start investing in the stock market.

The rule of revenue generation is as follows :

Warrant Buffet‛s Company: Generates $2million a turn. After 5 turns, this amount will triple. This means that after the 5th
turn, the company will generate $6million for each turn until the end of the game.

Don Triumph‛s Company: Generates $3million a turn. After 5 turns, this amount will double. This means that after the 5th
turn, the company will generate $6million for each turn until the end of the game.

Rowen Alkinson‛s Company: Generates $1million a turn. After 5 turns, this amount will increase 6 fold. This means that
after the 5th turn, the company will generate $6million for each turn until the end of the game.

Billy Gate‛s Company: Generates $3million a turn. After 5 turns, this amount will double. This means that after the 5th
turn, the company will generate $6million for each turn until the end of the game.

Game Play

The game is segmented into two phases, a short-term stage and a long-term stage.

Short-term stage:

In the short-term stage, the CEOs will engage in a round of “Question & Answer.” Every players will receive $10 million at
the beginning of this stage.

There are a total of 40 financial questions in multiple choice formats in this round. Every player will each take a turn to
answer a question, and this will go round the table until all 40 questions have been answered. The purpose of this initial
stage is to help the CEOs raise the capital they need to establish their empire in the long-term stage, as well as raise their
financial knowledge and awareness.

The questions and answers are found in the Appendix

This is the guidelines on how this stage works:

For every question answered correctly, the CEO will receive $2million.

For every question answered wrongly, the CEO will receive no money.

Each question has four options. CEOs are allowed to make use of 3 lifelines.

Lifeline 1: Elimination.

Price of Lifeline : $1million

How it works : This lifeline will aid the CEOs by eliminating 2 wrong options, leaving the CEO with another 2 options, among
which 1 is the correct one. If the CEO still fails to answer correctly, he cannot use another lifeline for the same question,
and his $1million will be forgone.

Lifeline 2: Ask a Friend

Price of Lifeline: $1million

How it works: This lifeline allows the CEO to discuss the answers of the question with other CEOs. The same rule applies.
Should the CEO still answer the question wrongly, his $1million price paid for the lifeline will be forgone.

Lifeline 3: Revealing of the Answer

Price of Lifeline: $1million

How it works: Like the name says it, this life line will allow the CEO to see the answers to the question. This is definitely the
best lifeline.

Note: The lifelines are to be used for one question at a time. Each player is entitled to only 3 lifelines which means they
cannot reuse them for the next questions.

Once all the 40 questions have been answered, the CEOs will move on to play in a bigger arena, and this is where the game
essentially begins.

10
Long-term stage

In this stage, CEOs will commence the establishment of their empires.

The sequence of the players in each round is determined by throwing a dice. Who gets the highest number will go first and
the lowest will go last. If two players, for example, get the same number, the sequence of these two will be determined by
throwing the dice again and who score higher will go first. Their second throwing will only affect the sequence among them
and not others.

Every round the players must throw the dice again.

After the sequence has been determined, players will choose their actions. Every player can only conduct maximum 2 actions
at their turns. However, they can still act at other players turn if only they are offered to do so.

Actions available to players:

Buy or Sell Stocks:

Stock is an instrument that states an ownership position in a corporation, and represents a declaration on its proportional
share in the corporation's assets and profits.

Players are provided with a Board of stock price where the beginning price of their companies‛ stocks and other public
companies‛ stocks are shown. At the start of every round one news card is revealed. The news item on the card reports an
event that caused one or many companies‛ share price to go up or down. The news items are found in the Appendix.

11
The prices on the board are the prices of one share (stock). Each established company has the capital of 25million shares
and number of shares offer to the public is 10million shares (which is 40% of the company‛s shares). The rest 4 public
companies we assume they offer unlimited number of shares.

Players will buy or sell the stocks in term of number of shares and not amount of money. For example, now on the board the
Billy Gate‛s Company share price is $7. To purchase these shares, a player tells a banker number of shares he/she wants to
buy. The minimum number that a person can sell or buy is 1 million shares. So let‛s say I want to buy 1 million of Billy Gate‛s
Company share. Therefore, I will pay to the banker $7 x 1 million = $7million. Then, both the banker and I will record this
sale‛s transaction in our tracking sheets.

How a stock price board looks like:

Companies‛ names Initial stock Stock price Stock price Stock price
price after round after round after round
1 2 3…
Triumph Organization $7
Wiltshire Hathaway $8
Macrosoft Inc. $8
Mike Inc. $7
Carrfour Inc. $6
Applet Inc. $9
City Development Ltd. $8
Addidas Inc. $6

Note:
If the price change in the news card happens to make the stock price go down to negative value, that news card will be
replaced by another card until the price remains above zero

12
The players are not allowed to sell and purchase their own companies‛ shares.
You can buy and sell stocks at the same time and it only counts as one activity.

Generate money through Rights Issue:

Rights issue - an offering of common stock to existing shareholders who hold subscription rights or pre-emptive rights that
entitle them to buy newly issued shares at a discount from the price at which they will be offered to the public later.

The players will have the opportunity to raise money through this Right Issue of shares of their own companies. The
maximum amount of shares the players can issue is 5 million and at the price half of the latest price of their companies on
the board. The players not necessary have to issue all 5 million in one turn but they can divided into many times provided the
total amount of shares issued is 5 million for the whole game. This will depends on each player strategy on when to conduct
the right issue and at what amount.

Note: Players can only conduct this activity after 5 rounds have passed.

Construct a building:

Players can choose to build different types of building available in the game to occupy the squares on the map. However,
each building has different cost but also generate different revenue. The portfolios of the buildings are provided in
appendix.

In order to recognize the action and the possession of the building and the square, the player will put his respective counter
on the chosen square.

13
Players are not allowed to put their counter on the numbered squares.
These are the details of the 5 respective industries with the respective counter representing each type of building:

Hotels

Each hotel costs $10million to build. Each hotel generates Resort

$2million at each turn. Resale value of a hotel is $15million Each resort costs $12million to build. Each resort generates
$3million at each turn. Resale value of a resort is $8million

Casino
Factory
Each casino costs $20million to construct. Each casino generates
Each factory costs $40million to construct. Each factory
$5million at each turn. Resale value of a casino is $25million
generates $8million at each turn. Resale value of a casino is
$50million

Office Building
Each office building costs $50million to construct. Each office
building generates $10million at each turn. Resale value of an
office building is $35million

14
Sell or buy a building:

When players are lack of money, they may want to sell their existing buildings to buy a cheaper one. In order to make a transaction, the
player who wants to sell his/her assets can offer this deal to another player of his/her choice at reselling price. However, he must
make this offer to every player. If no one in the game agrees to buy, only then he can sell it to the bank and remove his assets on the
map.

On the other hand, if the player has plenty of money, he may want to buy a building from another player to occupy the square. The
price, thus, will be negotiable between the two parties.

Take a Bank Loan:

Bank loan is lending money from the Bank.

Players can ask for bank loan up to $50 million. However, each following round the players will have to pay 1 million interests
to the bank until they have enough money to pay back the loan to the bank. Moreover, the maturity round will be the 10th
round after the round of taking loan. On maturity, players must pay back the principle amount plus 1 million interests. The
players can pay back earlier if they want.
If on maturity round the player do not have enough money to pay the debt, he must gives his assets (which are buildings and
stocks if he has) to the bank at a market price (existing price on the board for the stock and resale value for the buildings).
But if the value of the buildings plus stocks plus the amount of cash he has is still not enough, the player will be considered
bankrupt and is kicked out of the game and all the buildings he has occupied will be removed.

Therefore, players must be very careful in conducting this activity.

15
Takeover and Acquisition

Takeover and Acquisition in this game means to acquire another player established company.

How does it work?

Competing players will buy and sell one other‛s shares. They can also buy through rights issue.

At any point of time, the takeover rule can take place.

Takeover rule: (players can choose either one of the following):

· Players with 30% and more in stockholding buy at least 1% of the target company shares.
· Players with less than 30% stockholding later on acquire 30% or more stockholding

will have to launch a takeover bid at the determined price

Determined price: $30million

When player A has successfully taken over player B established company, player A will get all of player B buildings and
revenues they generate in the following rounds. All the share of other companies that player B has will return to the
market. Cash are returned to the bank.

16
Bonus
Each player who dominates their respective regions (for region 1: 4 squares, the rest: 3 regions) will gain bonus (Region 1: $2
million bonus for every kind of revenue the player has, other regions: $1 million bonus)

Players are allowed to occupy one other‛s squares to prevent a person from getting bonus.

Determining the Victor

As the saying goes, “All good things must come to an end”, and a game no matter how fun must come to an end eventually. In
World War III, the winner is determined by the person who fulfills the two criteria:

First criteria: Takeover one rival company

Second criteria: Achieve a target revenue of ($50million)

We hope you will have fun playing World War III - War of the CEOs.
