assessment, so as to ensure competency/learning outcomes have been clearly demonstrated.

Your assessment will reflect the contexts and situations in which you may find yourself working. All CIT
Vocational Education and Training (VET) assessment is criterion referenced. Any changes to the
assessment will be provided to you in writing.

directed to do so by a teacher. Although a clinic roster will be prepared, the roster arrangements are
tentative only and subject to change to suit clinic requirements. Clinic attendance is mandatory. All
students are required to wear clothing in the styles and colours specified by the teachers. If you are not
able to attend clinic, you must (as soon as possible) notify a teacher. Any non-attendance of clinic
sessions may result in a fail grade if the teacher determines that the absence/s indicate/s a failure to
adequately achieve required learning outcomes.

2. Clinic Case Summaries

All students are required to complete a Case Summary (in the format specified) for every consultation
conducted. The case summary is to be typed, in at least 11 point font and must not exceed four pages
in length.

For assessment purposes, a minimum of eight Case Summaries of consultations must be submitted
unless otherwise agreed by the teacher.

All Case Summaries (whether for assessment or not) are due by email to
adrianne.waterman@cit.act.edu.au by 5.00pm on the Tuesday following the consultation.

3. Case Presentation

On completion of the subject, students will be assessed by an industry panel as they orally present one
of their cases. (No written assignment /assessment is involved). Presentations will be held from 5pm to
7pm on 8, 15 and 22 November 2011 with specific times to be allocated. All students must attend every
presentation session. Presentations are strictly to be no more than 20 minutes in length, with an

This is a graded subject

Grading Rubric

Evidence of outstanding quality in the achievement of the learning outcomes of

the subject, which may be demonstrated in areas such as logical argument,
High Distinction
originality, creativity or the ability to resolve issues and provide technical
guidance to others across a range of contexts.

Evidence of superior quality in the achievement of the learning outcomes of the

Distinction subject, demonstrating a sound grasp of content, together with efficient
organisation and selectivity.
Evidence of more than satisfactory achievement of the learning outcomes of the
subject, or work of superior quality on a majority of the learning outcomes of the
Credit
subject. This should be achieved with little or no assistance or need for
repetition.
Pass Evidence of satisfactory achievement of the learning outcomes of the subject.
Evidence of unsatisfactory achievement of one or more learning outcomes of the
Fail
subject.
Your tasks will be assessed against the assessment criteria and your teacher will give you feedback
usually within two weeks.

At CIT, your assessment should be all your own work, other than when you quote and reference the
work of others. Using the work of others in any other manner (plagiarism) will not be accepted, and may
result in a fail grade in the subject. For information or help, contact the Learning Centre, and consider
the free drop-in study support program CIT offers. The Learning Centre publication, Acknowledging the
Source, outlines how to correctly reference your work. It is available from the Learning Centre for a
small fee or can be downloaded free of charge from
http://www.cit.act.edu.au/current/cit_learning_centre/research_and_resources.

Guidelines and Expectations

You will be required to complete assessment tasks to demonstrate your competency in the learning
outcome/s of each course of study.

While assessment tasks are normally set by teachers, sometimes there is room for negotiation.

Think carefully about the support you will request of the teacher, because to be
awarded a grade of credit or higher, the task should be achieved with little or
no assistance or need for repetition.

Re-assessment
If the assessment feedback you receive indicates that you have not achieved competency in any aspect
of the assessment, you will be given one opportunity to be re-assessed at a time to be negotiated with
your teacher. However, you must be able to demonstrate that you have made a reasonable and
genuine effort to achieve the required learning outcomes in the initial assessment.

Note that if you are required to resubmit your work in a graded subject, you will be disqualified from
receiving a grade higher than pass level when your work is re-marked.
