DESIGNING ACTIVITIES TO HELP LEARNERS USE THE LESSON TARGET


LANGUAGE IN A PRODUCTIVE SKILL
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROJECT TASK 2C

This document will provide you with the step-by-step instructions and samples1 to
carry on this week’s planning task.

During this week, you and your group will work on s ​ ections 2, 3, 8, 9 and 11 ​of
the English self-study guide. If in doubt about these sections, please revise the self-
study guide sections document.

SECTION 2 (ORIENTACIONES PARA LOS PADRES DE FAMILIA)

a. This section is
addressed to
parents. It does not
aim to make them
assume the teacher’s
role. Instead, this
section looks to offer
guidance so parents
can be better
prepared to provide
support to their
children while they
work on the guide.
Therefore, it must be
written in Spanish.

b. Briefly and clearly


state the objectives
learners are meant to
achieve by doing the
activities in the
guide.

c. Describe what
learners are expected
to do with each of
the activities
planned.

SECTION 3 (WELCOME TO THIS SELF-STUDY GUIDE)

d. Write a brief description of the topic, objectives, and main activities to develop.
This text should be written in simple English.

e. Write a short, encouraging message, commending learners on their hard work.

SECTION 9 (USEFUL RESOURCES)

f. Select links that could help to further autonomous practice on or expand their
knowledge of the language focus and topics dealt with in the guide.

Note: Make sure these references are safe for learners and do not relate to
violence, sex, alcohol consumption, or drug use. As much as possible, select links
that come from academic sources.
SECTION 11 (ORIENTACIONES FINALES PARA LOS PADRES DE FAMILIA)

g. Write a text in Spanish inviting parents to ask their children some questions to
check how much they have learnt with the guide and fostering reflection about the
learning process.

Remember:

Self-assess your work before submitting it. Do so by


evaluating if this part of the self-study guide meets the
following checklist items: 1, 2, 13, 15 and 17. Your tutor
will give 20 points for every checklist item that meets the
criteria without any further comments.

Just like in Project Task 2B, you will need to open the ​editable checklist file
and locate the specific items you will need to assess, read the descriptors
previously mentioned and once the whole group is sure the guide meets the
criteria in the checklist, the group leader must submit both the link to the
guide and completed checklist.
