Week003–Levels of Measurement
Laboratory Exercise 001

Objective/s:
At the end of this activity, you should be able to:
 Create spreadsheet file;
 Compute for the frequency of the data per category; and
 Formulate a conclusion or analysis about the experiment.

What to Prepare for the Activity:

 Microsoft Excel or Spreadsheet/SPSS

Procedure:
1. Load Microsoft Excel or any electronic spreadsheet. Enter the data from the table below.
2. Compute the frequency of all nominal variables by category using the =COUNIF() function.
You can use the =countif() by supplying the range and the criteria. For example, to
determine the frequency of number of 1’s from B1 to B30, use =COUNTIF(B1:B30, “=1”)
3. Make another table for the results and create a graph
4. Transfer the results in Microsoft Word Application. Give your interpretation to the results.
Use the given format

Assessments
A study was conducted on the achievement between male and female to determine if there is
significant difference between nominal variables (gender, sibling, parent style) and their
achievement. The result of the survey is presented in the table
