n.Chr. von den Römern gegründet. Augsburg gehörte für 400 Jahre zum römischen Reich und war
ein wichtiger Stützpunkt an den Flüssen Lech und Wertach. Von Augsburg kann man nach Süden die
Alpen nach Italien überqueren. Die Römer nannten die Stadt Augusta Vindelicorum nach dem
römischen Kaiser Augustus. „Augsburg“ kommt vom Namen „Augustus“. Die Stadt war eine freie
unabhängige Stadt von 1276 bis 1803. In der Renaissance war Augsburg für die Reformation, Handel
und Banken bekannt.
