Program and Communications Intern

Time Commitment: 32 hours per week preferred, minimum of 20 hours per week.
Compensation: Unpaid (Academic Credit Available).

Introduction
The US-China Education Trust (USCET) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to
strengthening mutual understanding between the United States and China through education and
exchange for next-generation leaders.

Position Description
The Program and Communications Intern is responsible for conducting research and contributing
to the design of new initiatives, including working closely with senior staff in brainstorming
sessions, writing concept notes, and grant proposals. He or she will play a key role in the day-to-
day operations of USCET and create meaningful content for USCET’s social media accounts to
engage our audiences.
Responsibilities

1. Communications and Outreach

 Conduct online communications - Write blog updates for USCET website, draft new
website text/pages, draft announcements and newsletters, and other online content.

 Manage USCET social media accounts - Including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram,


Twitter, and Weibo.
 Create dynamic written, graphic and video content, including invitations, brochures,
and other materials for programs and events.
2. Program implementation

 Assist in the logistics of program implementation

 Coordinate with partners in China and the US on program design and


implementation.

3. Reporting and Grant writing - Contribute to the design and development of new initiatives:

 Conduct research to inform the development of new initiatives related to US-China


relations.

 Write concept papers and develop grant proposals.


 Draft reports for internal records as well as to Advisory Council members and donors.
Donors include individuals, foundations, and government agencies.

Ideal Candidate

 Self-starter who takes initiative with projects and cooperates well with others.
 Superb writing and editing skills.
 Tech savvy and able to leverage a variety of software and online tools to assist in
communications and outreach; Proficient in Microsoft Office, Constant Contact, and
Adobe Suite software.
 Responsible, punctual, organized, and able to work well in a small office environment.
 Senior Undergraduate student, Graduate student or recent graduate with strong Chinese
linguistic and cultural knowledge.
 Legally authorized to work in the United States (Citizen, Green Card Holder, or F-1
student with OPT) Note: We do not sponsor work visas.
