OBJEKTIF : Pada akhir kursus ini, pelajar dapat memahami model-model


kualiti dalam pengurusan kualiti dan mengaplikasikannya
(OBJECTIVE)
dengan pengurusan kualiti dalam scenario institusi pendidikan
tinggi.
(By the end of the course, the students are able to synthesize
models of quality management and apply Quality
Management System in the scenario of higher education).

SINOPSIS : Kursus ini meliputi perbincangan konsep akauntabiliti dan


kualiti dalam pendidikan tinggi; model-model pendekatan
(SYNOPSIS)
kualiti; dan proses jaminan kualiti dalam pendidikan tinggi.
(This course includes the discussion of accountability
concepts and quality in higher education; models of quality
approach; and the process of quality assurance in higher
education).

Course work:
The breakdown of the course work assessment is as below –
1. Assignments – there will be two written assignments, one due on fourth
meeting and another one on last meeting, Each written assignment worth
20% (altogether 40%) and the assignments must be handed in on time.

2. Mid-term exam – there will be a mid-term exam half-way through the


course worth 30%. The exam will be a two hours written exam conducted in
class.

Assignment 1 (Individual):

You may choose one of the topics discussed in this course and write a 10 – 20
pages conceptual paper (double space) elaborating the contents of the chosen
topic and relate them to the higher education environment. In writing your
assignment, you have to choose at least two articles from journals such as
Quality in Higher Education, Quality Assurance in Education, Higher Education
Management and Policy, Higher Education Quarterly and Higher Education to
assist you in writing the assignment. A copy of the journals must be attached to
your assignment.

Assignment 2 (In a group of 3 students):


You are required to analyze and make comparisons about the quality movement
of any three of the Malaysian universities and write a 10 – 25 pages report based
on your analysis. You are also required to critically analyze the quality
management practice of the universities and make suggestions on ways to
improve the quality management practice of those universities.

Final exam:
There will be a two hours final exam worth 30% conducted at the end of the
semester.
