About Endura
The Endura® system is a total system solution for network-based video surveillance. Endura products control the origination, transport, recording,
and display of integrated, security-related audio and video.

The advanced system management software provides access to all of Endura’s operation and configuration features in one unified, user-friendly
interface. The interface uses drag-and-drop operations, shortcut menus, and tooltips to enable the most direct, intuitive interactions. Sound,
graphics, color, and on-screen messages provide helpful, ongoing feedback about user activity and system status. This interface allows users to
view live video and audio, control cameras, record, search, playback, and export video. The software also allows users to perform administrative
functions, such as configuring devices, setting up users, adjusting network settings, and creating recording schedules. Permissions to access
these functions and all other system services can be configured to a fine level of detail. Users see only those devices and features to which they
have been granted permission.

The software offers a powerful scripting interface. With scripts, users can flexibly and easily automate many system functions in almost any
combination. An enhanced search interface enables searches across multiple devices, time ranges, and event types. System logs can also be
searched, printed, and exported. Video clips and snapshots can be exported to a USB flash memory device or to a DVD±RW/CD-RW drive
(if these are available on the host workstation).

This manual describes how to operate version 2.0 or later of the advanced system management software to monitor live and recorded video, run
scripts, and respond to alarms. The software configuration manual describes how to configure the software, create users and roles, and
configure devices, scripts, and recording schedules.This manual is available electronically on the resource disc that accompanies the Endura
Workstation. It is also available for download from the Pelco Web site. In addition to these manuals, the software provides online Help that is
accessible from the interface Help menu. You can locate the topics you need without referring to either of the manuals.

If you are running the software on a personal computer other than an Endura workstation, follow the recommendations for minimum system
requirements that are listed in the software specifications. Ensure that you have a USB mouse with a scroll wheel and a standard USB PC
keyboard. Ensure that the personal computer is connected to an Endura system as described in the Endura Network Design Guide.

Opening and Closing the Software
To start the software, double-click the Endura icon on the desktop of your Endura workstation or personal computer. The Login dialog box
appears. If the SM5000 is online, a small key icon appears in the lower-right corner.

LOGGING ON
Logging on loads your user profile, including your language preference. When you start the software, the Login dialog box automatically appears.

When logging on to an Endura network that includes a System Manager (SM5000), the default user name is admin and the default password is
admin.

To keep your system secure, be sure to change the default passwords. Record the new user name and password information in a secure location.

To log on:
1. Type your Endura user name.

2. Type your password.

3. If necessary, click the Synchronize button to locate the System Manager. Refer to Synchronizing with the System Manager on
page 12 for more information.

4. Click OK.

NOTE: User names and passwords are case sensitive.

To cancel logging on, click Cancel.

If you enter your user name or password incorrectly, the dialog box shifts from left to right to signal the problem and the following dialog box
appears. Retype your user name and password, and then click Retry.

It may take up to a minute for the application to fully load. While the software is loading, the Endura welcome screen appears. The main screen
appears after the software has completed loading (refer to Figure 5 on page 13), and the devices on your network start to load. Depending on the
size of your network, this process may take a few minutes. Check the lower-left corner of the application window to see the status of the
device-loading process.

NOTE: Every Endura user may be assigned one or more roles; each role has permission to access a particular set of Endura devices and software
features. If, when you log on, you do not see a device or system feature you expect to see, contact the system administrator to determine if your
permissions should be edited to expand your access.

LOGGING ON WITH A TEMPORARY PASSWORD
System administrators can assign users temporary passwords to use when logging on to the software for the first time or when a password
needs to be reset. When logging on with the temporary password, a user is prompted to create a new password by performing the following
steps:
1. Click the Workstation icon on your desktop. A Logon dialog box appears.

2. Select the user name and the current password. A Change Password dialog box appears.

3. Type the current password, a new password, and then confirm the new password.

4. Click the OK button. If the old password (temporary) is entered correctly and the new and confirmed passwords match, the application
opens.

NOTE: A dialog box appears if the old password is incorrect or the new and confirmed passwords do not match. If this occurs, retype your
old and new passwords. If you are unsuccessful, contact your administrator.

CHANGING PASSWORDS
System administrators may enforce password security policies that will prompt users to change their passwords before their passwords expire.

Users can change their passwords by performing the following steps:

1. Click the WS5200 software icon on your desktop. A Logon dialog box appears.

2. Select the user name and type your password. The software opens.

3. Click the Tools menu. A drop-down menu appears.

4. Click Change Password. A Change Password dialog box appears.

5. Type the current password, a new password, and then confirm the new password.

6. Click the OK button.

SYNCHRONIZING WITH THE SYSTEM MANAGER
The System Manager can be updated independently of other devices on the Endura system. It is possible that the software might not locate the
system manager if it has been changed or replaced. When this happens you must synchronize with the system manager again.

To synchronize with the system manager:

1. Go to the Login dialog box if it is not already displayed. If the system manager cannot be located, a Synchronize button appears on
the Login dialog box.

2. Click the Synchronize button . A message appears on the dialog box stating that the application is searching for the system
manager.

3. After the system manager is located, the icon on the Login dialog box changes, and the message changes to indicate that it has been
located. Enter your user name and password and log on to the software. You will be reconnected with devices on the system again.

LOGGING OFF
To exit the application, from the File menu, select Exit or Logout. The system logs you off, closes the application, and returns you to the Endura
workstation desktop. As an alternative, click the Close button in the upper-right corner of the application window.

Title Bar: The Endura name appears here, along with the name of the user currently logged on.

Menu Bar: Use drop-down menus on the menu bar to access application features. Drop-down menus are available for File, Workspace,
Tools, Views, Setup, and Help.
Toolbar: Click buttons on this toolbar to access the application’s screens and workspaces. If a toolbar button has a lighter background
color and a gray border around it, that feature is currently active.

 Navigation: This panel displays all of the cameras on the network. To view video, click and drag a camera to a video pane. Apply group
or location filters in Camera view or Explorer view. Rearrange the list by camera name, number, group, or location in Explorer view. The
navigation panel can be detached from the main screen and moved to a different location on the monitor, or it can be moved to a
different monitor.
Quick Search Timeline: This timeline displays any video that has been recorded in the past 24 hours for the currently selected
camera. As you select a different video pane, the display is updated to reflect the available recorded video for the currently selected
camera.
Sync Playback Tab and Search Results Tabs: The Sync Playback tab displays the cameras whose recorded video is being played
synchronously. Use this tab to play back the video from several cameras related to a single event. Change the layout to display video
from more cameras. Any display mode is available for synchronized playback.
The search results tabs allow you to search for video from a single camera on the Quick Search tab or to view broader search results on
the Enhanced Search Results tab. Each tab offers playback and export options. To reopen a search results tab, select it from the Views
menu. For information about the Quick Search or Enhanced Search functions, refer to Searching for Video on page 58.
These tabs can be detached from the main screen, moved to another part of the monitor or to another monitor, or closed.

Alarm Indicators: As alarms are received, a color-coded alarm indicator appears in the toolbar. Each alarm indicator represents
a different type of alarm that Endura supports. For example, a green alarm indicator represents normal alarms. Yellow indicates minor
alarms, orange indicates major alarms, and red indicates critical alarms. A flashing indicator means that an alarm has been received but
not acknowledged.
Workspaces: Each workspace tab displays a group of video panes with the cameras you have selected. Changes to the camera
selections are automatically saved. You do not have to select the same cameras each time you log on. Workspaces can be detached
from the main screen and moved to another part of the monitor, or it can be moved to another monitor. There are three specialized
workspaces:
• External Monitors. This workspace functions as a virtual monitor wall, with monitor icons arranged to correspond to physical
NTSC/PAL or VGA monitors. Refer to the software configuration manual (C3619M) for information on setting up these icons. Drag
cameras onto this workspace to display video on your actual monitor wall.
• Enhanced Search. This workspace allows you to search for video by a date/time range, multiple devices, and multiple events. It
also supports locking, unlocking, and exporting video.
• Alarms. This workspace functions as the Alarm Manager. The Alarm Manager workspace displays a list of all active alarms
including those from physical events, motion events, and device errors reported by the system. An icon indicates the type of response
to each alarm to clear it, acknowledge it, or pause it to resolve later (also referred to as snoozing an alarm).
Video Pane: A bright green border indicates the currently selected video pane in live-view mode. Bright yellow indicates recorded (or
playback) video. Bright red indicates that manual recording is in progress. If audio is available, it will stream along with the live or
recorded video. Right-click the video pane to see what services (such as patterns and presets) the camera supports.
Video Controls: When you move your cursor into a pane to which video is streaming (either live or played back), these controls appear
in the lower-left corner of the pane. Move the pointer above each button to learn its function.
Status Bar: Icons on this bar indicate available network services, the security status for the system, and the currently active interface
feature.

Configuring the Application Window
Users may configure the application window in several ways. You can do any of the following:
• Resize the Window
• View Video with Extended View
• Move the Navigation Panel
• Detach Tabs and Workspaces

RESIZE THE WINDOW

To enlarge the application window to full-screen view, click the Maximize button in the upper-right corner of the window. To reduce the
window size from full-screen view, click the Restore button .

To resize the application window manually:

1. Click and hold the cursor on any edge of the window. A double-sided arrow appears, indicating that you can move that side in or out to
resize the window.

2. Drag the side until it reaches the desired size.

VIEW VIDEO WITH EXTENDED VIEW

To switch to a video-only view, with all toolbars and menus hidden, click the Extended View button in the toolbar or press CTRL+E on your
keyboard. To exit Extended View, press the ESC key or CTRL+E keys on your keyboard. You may also exit by right-clicking a video pane and then
selecting Exit Extended View. To switch from workspace to workspace while in extended view, press the letter N to view the next workspace and
the letter P to view the previous workspace.

MOVE THE NAVIGATION PANEL
The Navigation panel allows you to select cameras for display. This panel can be detached from the main screen and moved to a different
location on the monitor, or it can be moved to a different monitor if one is connected to the workstation.

To change the location of the Navigation panel:

1. Click the Detach button in the Navigation panel toolbar.

2. Press and hold the left mouse button while you move the panel anywhere on the monitor.

3. To return the panel to its original position on the main screen, double-click the panel toolbar.

4. Click the Close button in the Navigation panel toolbar; the panel closes. To re-open the panel, select Navigation from the Views menu.

DETACH TABS AND WORKSPACES
Workspaces and tabs can be detached from the main screen and moved to another part of the monitor, or they can be moved to a separate
monitor. If you exit the software without first returning the workspaces and tabs to their original position, they remain detached the next time you
log on to the system from the same computer.

TO DETACH A WORKSPACE
1. On the main screen, right-click a workspace tab.

2. Select Float Tab from the shortcut menu. The tab becomes a separate screen over the main screen.

3. Move it to another position on the monitor or to a second monitor if one is connected to the computer.

4. To return the workspace to its original position on the main screen, click the Dock Tab button on the workspace toolbar.

TO DETACH OR CLOSE A TAB

1. On the main screen, click the Float icon in the upper-right corner of the tab. The Quick Search tab becomes a separate screen that floats
over the main screen.

2. To close the detached Quick Search tab, perform one of the following options:
• Click the Close button to close the tab. To redisplay the tab, select the Quick Search tab from the Views menu.
• Double-click the menu bar of the detached Quick Search tab to return the tab to its original position on the main screen.

TOOLTIPS
Tooltips help you learn the function of each button. If you move the pointer above any button in the interface, a tooltip with the button name.
The tooltip remains visible until you move your cursor away from the button.

Some functions in the software are available through right-clicking and shortcut menus.
• Right-click in any part of the application window to access the shortcut menus for that location.
• Shortcut menus present different options depending on where you are in the interface when you call them up.

SUBMENUS
Shortcut menus may have one or more items with a symbol () beside it. The symbol indicates that a menu with additional options appears if
you move the pointer over it. Once the submenu appears, move your cursor over to it and click to select a submenu item.

To hide the menus and submenus, click another part of the video pane.

Throughout the interface, there are keyboard shortcuts (predefined combinations of key presses on the keyboard) to give you the option to access

Monitoring Live Video and Audio

LIVE VIDEO RATES AND RESOLUTION

To deliver the highest quality picture to the most video panes at one time, the software uses the patent-pending EnduraView™ technology to
adjust the display rates dynamically. The video display frame rates vary according to the number of video streams displayed on the screen, their
resolution and recording frame rate, the source of the video (NET53xx series encoders or Endura digital video recorders), and the performance of
the Endura system on which the software is running. For specific information about expected frame rates, consult the Endura Network Design
Guide.

When displaying up to four video streams, you can view video at the maximum images per second (ips) associated with your picture quality
stream. If your stream is set to 4CIF-30 ips, it can display 30 ips. When displaying more than four video streams, the ips are distributed across the
active video panes as needed. The currently selected channel streams at the highest rate for the picture quality setting; all other video panes
stream I-frames at a rate of two to five ips.

The video display resolution is determined through the systemwide picture quality setting on the System Configuration tab or the encoder-
specific quality setting on the Devices tab. For more information on setting picture quality, refer to the software configuration manual.

NOTE: The software displays both standard and high definition video streams. Some cameras can be configured to display either type of video
stream. If you are trying to view video from a camera that has been reconfigured to display high definition video and the video does not display
properly, consider exiting and restarting the software.

SELECTING VIDEO TO DISPLAY

• The Navigation panel provides access to all cameras on the system. If there is a red slash mark across the icon, that camera has been
online in the past but is not currently available for display.
• Camera view displays icons for all the cameras on your network.

• Explorer view presents a list of cameras, which may be sorted alphanumerically (by camera name or number) or arranged hierarchically
(by location or camera group). The hierarchical view is for display purposes only, to make it easier to navigate through large networks and
locate individual cameras. You can also use a location or camera group to select multiple cameras at a time.

 To select a camera to view:
1. Click a view tab in the Navigation panel (either Camera or Explorer view).

2. Locate the camera you want to select. In Explorer view, you may need to click the Expand icon to expose lower levels of the hierarchy. Click
the Collapse icon to hide lower levels.

3. Double-click the camera in the list, and it is displayed in the currently selected video pane.

4. As an alternative, click a camera in the list with the left mouse button. To select several cameras, press and hold the Control or Shift key
while you select more cameras or a range of cameras from the list. From the Explorer view you can select a camera group.

5. After you have selected a camera or cameras, drag the selected camera icon into the video pane of your choice. The video from that camera
appears in the video pane almost immediately. If there is audio associated with that camera, it will begin playing when the video starts. If
you cannot hear the audio, click the video pane to select it. If you select several cameras, they are loaded into the workspace video panes
in the order in which they appear in the camera list. If you select more cameras than the workspace is set up to display, only the first few
cameras are displayed in the workspace. The remaining cameras are ignored.

A “Connecting…” message may appear briefly in the pane before the video starts. The pane displays “Connect Failed” if the connection did
not succeed.

To move a camera directly from one video pane to another, press the Shift key on your keyboard and then click the video you wish to move
and drag it to a different pane. To assign video to a second video pane without disconnecting it from the first one, press the CTRL key while
you drag the video to the second pane.

Instead of clicking and dragging a camera, you can also select a camera by its number. To select a camera by number:
1. Right-click in the video pane.

2. Select “Select Camera Number…” from the shortcut menu. The “Select Camera” dialog box appears.

3. Type or use the up or down arrow to select a camera number. You must enter a camera number that has been assigned to select a camera
with this method.

4. Click OK to select the camera or Cancel to exit without selecting it.

ADJUSTING THE VOLUME OF AUDIO
To adjust the volume of the audio associated with any video you are monitoring, select Adjust Volume from the Tools menu or press CTRL+ALT+V
on the keyboard. The Audio Volume dialog box appears.

Move the slider to adjust the volume, or select the Mute check box to turn off the volume.

NOTE: Adjusting the volume associated with the video does not affect the volume of other audio portions of the software, such as alarm
notifications. To adjust or mute your other audio settings, use the volume controls on your speakers or in the Windows Control Panel.

DISCONNECTING CAMERAS
To stop displaying video from a particular camera, right-click in the video pane and then select Disconnect from the shortcut menu. The video
disappears from the video pane, and the audio stream (if any) is disconnected. You can also disconnect all video in a workspace. Refer to
Disconnecting All Video in a Workspace on page 37 for more information.

FILTERING THE LISTS
If you have a very large system with hundreds of cameras, you may want to limit the number of cameras displayed in the Navigation panel. Use
filters to restrict the cameras by location or by camera group. (Configure the location and camera group associations through the Devices tab in
the Setup screen.)

To restrict the list of cameras using filters:

1. In the Camera view of the Navigation panel, click the arrowto the right of “Filters are off.” Or in Explorer view, right-click the panel and
then select Modify Filters from the shortcut menu. The Camera Filters dialog box appears (refer to Figure 21).

2. Select the “Use camera filters” check box to activate filtering.

3. Clear the “Show offline cameras” check box if you wish to deactivate this option and show only those cameras that are currently online.

4. Select location filters:

a. Clear the “Show all locations” check box to deselect it and choose cameras from particular locations.
b. Navigate to the location by clicking the Plus sign (+) to expose lower levels of the hierarchy and the Minus sign (–) to hide lower
levels.
c. Click the location for which you would like to see cameras.
d. Click Add.
e. When you have finished adding locations, click OK.
f. To cancel the location filters you have added, click Cancel.

5. Select camera group filters:

a. Clear the “Show all camera groups” check box to deselect it and choose particular groups of cameras.
b. Click the camera group for which you would like to see cameras.
c. Click Add.
d. When you have finished adding camera groups, click OK. To cancel the camera group filters you have added, click Cancel.

 To remove all camera location and group filters:
1. In the Camera view of the Navigation pane, click the arrow next to the “Filters are on” option. Or in Explorer view, right-click the panel and
then select Modify Filters. The Camera Filters dialog box appears.

2. Click Clear All Filters.

To turn off the camera filters:

1. In the Camera view of the Navigation panel, click the arrow next to the Filters are on option. Or in Explorer view, right-click the Navigation
panel and then select Modify Filters. The Camera Filters dialog box appears.

2. Click the Use camera filters check box to deselect it and deactivate filtering.

NOTE: Turning off the filters does not remove them from the system. The filters will still be available if you want to activate them again in the
future; you may do so by reselecting the Use camera filters check box.

ARRANGING THE EXPLORER VIEW

If you have a very large system with hundreds of cameras, you may want to rearrange the cameras displayed in the Explorer view. Arrange
cameras by location, camera groups, camera number, or camera name.

To arrange the list:

1. Click the Arranged by option to display a shortcut menu at the top of the navigation pane, or right-click in the white space below the list of
cameras to display the shortcut menu.

2. Click Location, Groups, Number, or Name. Refer to Figure 22 to see cameras sorted by camera number.

If you select Arranged by Location and no locations have been defined, the complete list of cameras appears under Unknown location.

When cameras are arranged by groups, only those cameras that have been assigned to a group appear in the Explorer panel. If you select
Arranged by Groups and no camera groups have been defined, an error message appears.

If you select Arranged by Number and no numbers have been assigned, the complete list of cameras appears, preceded by (zero).

NOTE: Location and camera filters set in Camera view apply in Explorer view as well. To adjust these filters, click Modify Filters in the Arranged
by shortcut menu. The Camera Filters dialog box appears. Refer to Filtering the Lists on page 24 for more details on setting filters.

While viewing live video, you can manually adjust the camera focus or iris to compensate for the amount of light that enters the camera.

TO ADJUST THE FOCUS

1. Right-click a video pane.

2. Select Iris and Focus from the menu. The Iris and Focus menu appears.

3. Under Focus, select Manual.

4. Adjust the focus by clicking the commands to focus nearer or farther from the camera. The picture adjusts in the background as you change
the focus.

5. Compare the preview pane with the picture in the background.

6. Click Close.

TO ADJUST THE IRIS

1. Right-click a video pane.

2. Select Iris and Focus from the shortcut menu. The Iris and Focus menu appears.

3. Under Iris, select Manual.

4. Adjust the iris by clicking the commands to open or close the iris. The picture adjusts to the increased or decreased light in the background
as you adjust the iris.

5. Compare the preview pane with the picture in the background.

6. Click Close.

 On-Screen Video Controls
If you move the pointer anywhere within a video pane, a set of controls appears at the bottom of the video pane. Also, if you are using a low
resolution monitor to view multiple video panes (2 x 2, 3 x 3, 4 x 4), the controls may not appear for all screen layouts. To make the controls
visible, switch to a simpler screen layout or Extended View. To hide the video controls, move your cursor outside the video pane.

The video controls allow you to control the playback of recorded video, activate manual recording, export video clips and snapshots, operate
digital zoom controls, perform additional PTZ functions on some cameras, and set up one or more zones of interest. Note that some controls are
available only when viewing recorded video. However, the controls for rewinding are available when viewing live video, which provides instant
playback of events without the need to conduct a separate search.

Additional controls that apply to specific cameras appear in the toolbar when you are viewing video for these cameras. For example, the
Spectra IV IP camera supports extended PTZ operations. Refer to Additional Controls for IP PTZ Cameras on page 30 for more information about
these commands.

The set of video controls is slightly different when playing back recorded video found through a search. For more information, refer to Playing
Back Video on page 66. Note also that video controls are tied to user permissions. If you do not see a particular video control, you do not have
permissions to use it. Contact your system administrator to change your permissions.

If a camera has pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) capabilities, the cursor turns into a square surrounded by four arrows when you move the mouse over
the video pane.

PAN/TILT
To pan or tilt a PTZ-enabled camera, click in the camera’s video pane and drag to the desired location with the mouse pointer .

PAN TO ZERO
1. To pan the camera back to its zero position, right-click on the video pane to display the shortcut menu.

2. Select Operations.

3. Select Rotate to Zero. The camera is repositioned at its zero position. This position is determined by the position of the camera when it is
installed.

1. To rotate the camera 180 degrees, right-click on the video pane to display the shortcut menu.

ZOOM IN

USING DIGITAL ZOOM CONTROLS
Similar to controlling PTZ on a camera, digital zoom controls let you zoom specific areas of the video. Digital zoom controls work on any video,
not just on video recorded on a camera that supports PTZ functions. This feature is also available while viewing exported video with the Pelco
Export Player and while viewing video on an external monitor. Refer to Using the Pelco Export Player on page 83 for additional information.

To use digital zoom controls, you must be viewing video from a camera in single view (1 x 1).
1. Select a camera and switch to a 1 x 1 view.

2. Click the Digital Zoom button . The view displays the video with a picture within the picture.

3. Click the mouse anywhere in the view, and then roll the center wheel of the mouse away from you to zoom in. To zoom out of the picture,
roll the center wheel of the mouse toward you.

4. To zoom in or out on a different area of the scene, press and hold the left mouse button anywhere in the picture, and then move the mouse
in any direction. A white frame inside the smaller picture indicates which part of the video you are displaying.

ADDITIONAL CONTROLS FOR IP PTZ CAMERAS
Some IP PTZ cameras offer additional PTZ controls. For example, Spectra IV IP provides controls to drag and zoom the picture, to center the
camera automatically anywhere you click in the scene, and to zoom in on a box that you draw with the mouse. These controls are available from
the shortcut menu or from the toolbar in the video pane.

CLICK AND DRAG

1. Right-click the video pane and select PTZ Mode. If this command is missing from the menu, the feature is not available for the selected
camera.

2. Select “Click and drag” from the list.

3. Press and hold the mouse pointer while you drag to a different location. The camera repositions to that location.

NOTE: As an alternative to this procedure, click the “Click and Drag” button in the video toolbar.

CENTER TO MOUSE
1. Right-click the video pane and select PTZ Mode. If this command is missing from the menu, the feature is not available for the selected
camera.

2. Select “Center to mouse” from the list.

3. Click the mouse pointer anywhere in the video pane. The camera repositions itself with that location in the center of the video pane.

NOTE: As an alternative, click the “Center to Mouse” button in the video toolbar.

RESIZE VIDEO
1. Right-click the video pane and select PTZ Mode. If this command is missing from the menu, the feature is not available for the selected
camera.

2. Select “Resize video to visible box” from the list.

3. Press and hold the mouse pointer while you draw a box. The camera zooms in on that location.

NOTE: As an alternative, click the “Resize video” button in the video toolbar.

SHOWING OR HIDING MOTION DETECTION
If a camera has motion detection enabled, you can view the motion detection from that camera while monitoring live video. If motion detection
was enabled while video was recorded, you can view it while playing back the recorded video.

To show motion detected on a particular camera, right-click in that camera’s video pane and then select Show Motion from the shortcut menu.

WIPER COMMANDS FOR CAMERAS

If a wiper command is available for a camera, a wiper option appears on the shortcut menu when you right-click a video pane. You can use this
command to clean off a camera. To access the wiper command, right-click in a video pane that is displaying a camera that has a wiper command
and select Wiper from the Operations menu. Depending on the wiper settings for the selected camera, the wiper operates one or more times to
clean off the camera lens. You can repeat the command as often as necessary.

WORKING WITH THE ZONE OF INTEREST FEATURE
A zone of interest is a user-defined area that is visible from a particular camera. Creating a zone of interest provides an independent zoom
capability on a particular area of the scene without disrupting the rest of the scene. A zone of interest can be created and viewed only when the
workspace is set to a single video display (1 x 1 view).

For each camera, a user can create one to six zones of interest. These zones are available on the workstation at which they are created. Other
users must set up their own zones of interest. For each zone, the user can resize, reposition, and name the zone.

CREATING A ZONE OF INTEREST

1. Display a camera in a workspace that is set at a single video display (1 x 1 view).

2. Reposition the camera to display the area of the scene for which you want to create a zone of interest.

3. Click the “Zone of Interest mode” button (refer to Figure 32). The toolbar changes to include the Zone of Interest configuration buttons, and
the border surrounding the video pane changes color.

4. Click the Add Zone button . A zone appears on the video pane.

5. Set up the zone as follows (refer to Figure 31):

a. Click the zone name and change it. Zones are automatically named Zone 1 through Zone 7. Changing the name is optional. The zone
name can be changed at any time.
b. Press and hold the left mouse button anywhere in the zone, and move it to a different location. The mouse pointer changes to a hand
when the zone window can be moved.
c. Press and hold the left mouse button in the lower-right corner of the zone window, and resize the zone.

6. Repeat these steps for each zone of interest.

7. Click the “Zone of Interest mode” button to return to viewing live video normally.

The zones are saved automatically when you exit the software.

NOTE: If the camera supports PTZ commands, you cannot reposition the camera while you are creating a zone of interest. After you turn
off the Zone of Interest mode, the PTZ commands will be available again.

 DELETING A ZONE OF INTEREST
1. Set the workspace to a single display (1 x 1 view).

2. Click the “Zone of Interest mode” button.

3. Delete a zone in either of the following ways:

• Right-click a zone, and then select Delete Zone from the shortcut menu
• Click a zone to open it, and then click the Delete button

SHOWING A ZONE OF INTEREST

You can open each zone of interest by clicking each zone area on the video pane. Follow these instructions to open a zone of interest in a
detached tab.
1. Right-click a video pane that is displaying video for which zones of interest have been created.

2. Select “Zone of Interest” to display the following menu.

• Open all Zone Windows: Opens all zones of interest in separate detached tabs.
• Hide all Zone Windows: Closes all opened zones of interest that are displayed in detached tabs.
• Show all Zone Areas: Displays a zone area for each zone of interest.
• Hide all Zone Areas: Closes all open zone areas on the video pane.
• Named zones: To view a specific zone in a detached tab, select the zone by name from the Zone of Interest menu.

CLOSING A ZONE OF INTEREST

There are several ways to close a zone of interest. The steps differ depending on how the zone of interest is displayed.
• To close an open zone of interest that is displayed in the video pane, click the Minimize button in the upper-right corner of the zone.
• To close a single zone of interest that is displayed in a detached tab, click the Close button in the upper-right corner of the tab.
• To close all zones of interest that are displayed in the video pane, right-click the video pane, and select “Hide all Zones Areas” from
the Zone of Interest menu.
• To close all zones of interest that are displayed in detached tabs, right-click a video pane, and select “Hide all Zones” from the zone of
Interest menu.

Viewing Device Properties and Settings
If you need assistance from Pelco Product Support, you may need to know the properties of a device, including its IP address, serial number, and
software version. For troubleshooting, you may also want to see specific information about the stream from a particular camera or diagnostic
information about the current or recent status of the device. Device properties and settings may be accessed from the video pane (by right-
clicking a shortcut menu) or from the Setup screen.

NOTE: To edit a device’s settings, right-click the video pane and select Modify Settings from the shortcut menu, or click the Setup button
and select the Devices tab. Refer to the software configuration manual for information on how to set specific camera and encoder properties.

DEVICE PROPERTIES
To view device properties:
1. Right-click the icon of the selected device or the video pane displaying video from that device.

2. Select Properties from the shortcut menu.

3. The Properties dialog box appears displaying basic information about the device:
• Name
• Location
• Type
• Serial number (this is the same number found on the labels on the front and rear panels of your unit)
• IP address
• Manufacturer
• Model name
• Model number
• Model description

4. Click OK.

To view advanced device properties (detailed information about the software version currently running on the device):
1. Right-click the icon of the selected device or the video pane displaying video from that device.

2. Select Properties from the shortcut menu.

3. Click the Advanced… button.

VIEWING DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION FOR A DEVICE

To view diagnostic information about a device (recent status information about the device):
1. Right-click the icon of the selected device or the video pane displaying video from that device.

2. Select Properties from the shortcut menu.

3. Click the “Diagnostics…” button.

4. The Diagnostic dialog box appears, displaying additional details about the device’s software:
• Type: Indicates the type of diagnostic information that was reported.
• Information: A summary of the status of the device that was reported.

5. Click Details to view more information about the status of the device that was reported.

6. Click OK to close this dialog box, and then click OK to close the Properties dialog box.

CAMERA SETTINGS
While monitoring live video, you can view information on camera settings (such as bit rate, frame rate, resolution, and format). The software
allows access to this information directly from the video pane.

When viewing recorded video, this dialog box also lists the NVR where the recording is stored, as well as the start and stop times of the
recording.

To view a camera’s settings:

1. Right-click the video pane displaying video from that camera.

2. Select Camera Settings from the shortcut menu. The Camera Settings dialog box appears.

Using Workspaces
A workspace in the software is a group of video panes displaying video from cameras that you have selected. Any changes to the cameras
selected for display in a workspace are automatically saved, so that you do not have to select the same cameras each time you log on. You might
set up a workspace to display cameras of a particular type, cameras in a certain location, or cameras monitoring the same activity (for example,
doors, blackjack tables, or baggage handling).

Workspaces are accessed through a tabbed interface in the main screen. Each tab is independent of the others. Click a tab to switch to a
different set of video panes. There are four default workspaces (refer to Table D):

You may quickly and easily manage workspaces in the following ways:
• Disconnect all video in a workspace. You can disconnect all video being displayed in a workspace with a single command. Use this
command to disconnect all devices quickly so that you can modify settings in a workspace.
• Rename each workspace for easy recognition and selection. Example names include: Parking Lot Cameras, Hallway 1, Blackjack Close-Ups,
and Spectras.
• Change the workspace layout. For example, you might want to set up several workspaces in 4 x 4 layout to maximize the number of
cameras available at any one time. Alternatively, you might want to switch to 1 x 1 mode to increase the visibility of details in the
monitored video. You may use any layout you prefer for any workspace. If high definition monitors are attached to the workstation or
computer, you may use a layout that supports a 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio.
• Adjust the number of workspaces. The system allows you to have from one to six workspaces.
• Detach a workspace and move it to a different location on the monitor, or move it to another monitor.

Details on these configuration options and commands appear below.

NOTE: Your workspaces can be different from those on other Endura workstations. When you log on, the workspaces on your workstation
automatically load so that you see the cameras and layouts you prefer. Adjustments you make to your workspaces are saved on your workstation
and will not affect other users.

DISCONNECTING ALL VIDEO IN A WORKSPACE

When you want to modify the settings of a workspace, you must first disconnect any video that is playing in the video panes. Endura provides a
command to disconnect all video at once. This command is especially useful if you are displaying a large number of videos at the same time.

To disconnect all video in a workspace:

1. Right-click a workspace tab to display the shortcut menu.

2. Select Disconnect all video. The video in each pane is disconnected.

SELECTING A WORKSPACE
To select a workspace, click its tab. The view changes instantly.

If you have more than four workspaces configured, you may need to scroll horizontally to see the other workspace tabs. Click the Move Right
button to display the workspace list to the right, and click the Move Left button to display to the workspace list to the left. To maximize
the number of visible tabs, choose short names for your workspaces.

RENAMING A WORKSPACE
To rename a workspace:
1. Right-click a workspace tab (or click the workspace you want to rename, and then open the Workspace menu).

2. Select Modify Workspace (CTRL+ALT+M).

3. The Modify the Current Workspace dialog box appears. The cursor appears at the end of the workspace name. Press the Backspace or
Delete key to delete the existing name completely, or position your cursor within the name to edit it.

4. Enter the new workspace name. The name may be no more than 50 characters long and may not include the following characters:
/ \ : ? “ < > | . ‘ # ^.

5. To save your changes, press the Enter key or click OK. To exit without saving, click Cancel.

NOTE: It is not possible to rename the Enhanced Search or External Monitors workspaces.

CHANGING THE WORKSPACE LAYOUT
To change workspace layout, use one of the following options:
• Click a layout icon in the toolbar.
• Go to the Workspace menu and then select a layout.
• Double-click any video pane in a multipane layout to open that video in single-pane layout. Double-click the video again to return the layout
back to the previous multipane layout.
• Use one of the following keyboard shortcuts. For example, hold down the CTRL key on your PC keyboard while pressing the number 2 to
switch to a four-camera view (2 x 2).

– To use a 1-camera view (1 x 1), press CTRL+1

– To use a 4-camera view (2 x 2), press CTRL+2

– To use a 9-camera view (3 x 3), press CTRL+3

– To use a 16-camera view (4 x 4), press CTRL+4

– To use a 6-camera view (1 + 5), press CTRL+5

– To use a 13-camera view (1 + 12), press CTRL+6

– To use a 10-camera view (2 + 8), press CTRL+7

– To use a 6-camera view (3 x 2) on a monitor that supports a 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio, press CTRL+8

– To use a 12-camera view (4 x 3) on a monitor that supports a 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio, press CTRL+9

NOTE: If your monitor does not support a 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio, the 3 x 2 and 4 x 3 views are not available.

ADDING NEW WORKSPACES

Endura allows each user to have up to six different workspaces.

To add a new workspace:

1. Right-click a workspace tab (or go to the Workspace menu).

2. Select New Workspace (CTRL+ALT+N). The “Create a new workspace” dialog box appears.

3. Enter the new workspace name. The name may be no more than 50 characters long and may not include the following characters:
/ \ : ? “ < > | . ‘ # ^.

4. Click OK to create the workspace, or click Cancel to exit without saving the workspace.

DELETING A WORKSPACE
To delete a workspace:
1. Right-click a workspace tab (or click the workspace you want to delete, and then go to the Workspace menu).

2. Select Delete Workspace (CTRL+ALT+D). The “Delete the current workspace” dialog box appears.

3. Click Yes to delete the workspace, or click No to cancel the deletion.

Using the External Monitors Workspace
The External Monitors workspace is a virtual monitor wall, with monitor icons arranged to correspond to physical NTSC/PAL or VGA monitors.
Refer to the software configuration manual (for information on setting up this workspace. When monitoring live video, you can drag cameras
onto the External Monitors workspace to display video, control PTZ, and use digital zoom functions on your actual monitor wall.

To access the External Monitors workspace, use one of the following options:
• Click the External Monitors button in the toolbar.
• Use the keyboard shortcut (CTRL+M).
• Select External Monitors from the Views menu.
• Click the External Monitors tab.

If external monitors have not been configured, a message appears directing you to the External Monitors tab of the Setup screen. Click the Setup
button to access External Monitors setup.

SELECTING AN EXTERNAL MONITOR

To select an external monitor, click its monitor icon. A black border indicates the currently selected external monitor. After you have selected a
monitor, you may take one of the following actions:
• Click a layout button to change the number of video panes on the selected monitor.

• Click the Identify monitor button to verify which monitor appears in the workspace. The name of the monitor flashes on the
NTSC/PAL or VGA monitor. Move the pointer over the icon of an external monitor to display information about that external monitor.
• Drag a camera from one monitor icon to another icon or to another workspace.

1. Use the Navigation panel to select a camera. If there is a red slash mark across the icon, that camera has been online in the past but is not
currently available for display.

2. Drag the selected camera icon into the icon representing the external monitor of your choice. The name of that camera appears within the
blue box. You can also drag a camera on the external monitor wall to a different monitor or to another workspace. If an external monitor is
set up with a multi-pane display, you can drag a camera to a specific video pane on the monitor.

3. Click the “View selected camera” button to view video from the selected camera, along with the camera’s name and location.

USING QUICK SEARCH TO PLAY RECORDED VIDEO ON AN EXTERNAL MONITOR

1. Click the Quick Search tab, and search for video (refer to Quick Search on page 58).

2. On the External Monitors tab, click the icon for the monitor on which you want to play back the Search results.

3. Click the Play button to start playback on the selected external monitor.

4. Once playback has started, you may use the External Monitors video controls to pause, frame forward or reverse, fast forward or reverse,
or jump to marked events.

5. To return to viewing live video, right-click the video and then select the Go to Live command from the shortcut menu.

USING ENHANCED SEARCH TO PLAY RECORDED VIDEO ON AN EXTERNAL MONITOR

1. Click the Enhanced Search Results tab, and search for video (refer to Enhanced Search on page 59).

2. Click the External Monitors workspace tab.

3. Drag the search result from the Enhanced Search results tab onto a monitor icon.

4. Use the External Monitors video controls to play, pause, frame forward or frame reverse, fast forward or fast reverse, or jump to marked
events.

5. To return to viewing live video, right-click the video and then select the Go to Live command from the shortcut menu.

PLAY RECORDED VIDEO WHILE WATCHING LIVE VIDEO ON AN EXTERNAL MONITOR

1. Use the Navigation panel to select a camera.

2. Click any reverse button to switch from viewing live video to recorded video. You can review recorded video frame by frame, or you can use
the Fast Reverse button .

REMOVING ALARM TEXT FROM AN EXTERNAL MONITOR

1. Click the icon for the monitor that is displaying a flashing alarm.

2. Right-click the mouse and then select the Remove Alert Text command. The alarm disappears.

ADJUSTING THE VOLUME THAT ACCOMPANIES VIDEO ON AN EXTERNAL MONITOR

1. On the External Monitors tab, select an external monitor.

2. Move the audio scroll box to the right or left along the Audio scroll bar .

Similar to controlling PTZ on a camera, digital zoom controls let you zoom specific areas of the video. Digital zoom controls work on any video,
not just on video recorded on a camera that supports PTZ functions. To use digital zoom controls on an external monitor:
1. Click the icon for the monitor that is displaying video that you want to use digital zoom controls. You must be displaying video in a
1 x 1 display (a single camera). Change the view if necessary.

2. Click the following controls to perform the associated functions:

• To reset the digital zoom ratio, click the “Reset digital zoom” button .
• To zoom in, click the “Digital zoom in” button .

• To zoom out of an area, click the “Digital zoom out” button .

• To move to the left, click the “Move left” button .

• To move to the right, click the “Move right” button .

• To move up, click the “Move up” button .

• To move down, click the “Move down” button .

Navigating Camera Menus
The software supports the display and navigation of programming menus built into cameras (such as Spectra® domes and the CCC5100 Series).
Only cameras that support remote programming through Coaxitron® or Pelco D protocols can use this feature.

ACCESSING A CAMERA MENU

1. Go to the Navigation panel.

2. Double-click or drag a camera from the list into a video pane.

3. Right-click in the video pane.

4. Select Enter Menu from the shortcut menu.

NOTE: This menu options works with ExSite®, Spectra III™, and Spectra IV cameras. It is not possible to exit the menu of an Esprit, Spectra II,
Spectra Mini or SIMD camera by right-clicking and using the software shortcut menu. To exit the on-screen menus of one of these cameras,
navigate to the EXIT option in the menu itself and press the Enter key. You may need to back up through several menu levels to reach the final
EXIT that will close the menu.

Using Patterns, Presets, and Scans
The software allows you to program the movements of PTZ-enabled cameras using patterns, presets, and scans. Patterns, presets, and scans
may be set and activated directly from the video pane (as described below). You may also activate patterns and presets using the software’s
scripting feature (refer to Executing Scripts on page 49 and to the configuration manual for instructions on creating scripts).

PATTERNS
A pattern is a memorized, repeating series of pan, tilt, and zoom movements that can be recalled with a command from a controller. The type of
camera positioning system determines the number of patterns that can be recorded and activated. For example, the 16X and 18X models of the
Spectra IV can store only one pattern while the 22X, 23X and 35X models can store up to eight patterns. Refer to the programming manual or
each camera for more information.

PROGRAMMING A PTZ PATTERN

1. Right-click in the video pane of the desired camera. A shortcut menu appears.

2. Select Pattern, and then click Record Pattern from the submenu.

3. In the submenu, select Modify Pattern to display the “Select Pattern” dialog box.

4. Enter the number of the pattern you want to modify, and then click OK.

5. Use PTZ controls to move the camera through the pattern of movements you want to record.

6. Right-click in the video pane, and then click Record Pattern from the shortcut menu.

7. Select End Record from the submenu.

1. Right-click in the video pane of the desired camera.

2. Select Pattern from the shortcut menu, and then click Select Pattern.

3. Enter the number of the pattern you want to activate, and then click OK.

PRESETS
A preset allows you to direct a PTZ (camera positioning system) to move to a predetermined scene (such as a door) on keyboard command or as a
result of an alarm. The area is programmed (set) in advance (pre). In addition to moving the camera, a descriptive title can appear in the video
pane. The type of camera positioning system determines the number of presets available.

RECORDING A PRESET
Use PTZ controls to move the camera to the preset position you want to record.
1. Right-click in the video pane of the desired camera. A shortcut menu appears.

2. Click Preset and then select Modify Preset. The Select Preset dialog box appears.

ACTIVATING A PRESET
1. Right-click in the video pane of the desired camera, and then click Preset. The Select Preset dialog box appears (refer to Figure 52).

2. Click Preset, Delete Preset. The Delete Preset dialog box appears.

SCANS
To scan is to view an area by panning a camera.

ACTIVATING A SCAN OPERATION

1. Right-click in the video pane of the desired camera.

ACTIONS AVAILABLE IN SCRIPTS

An Endura script is like a macro but provides much more power and flexibility. Scripts may be used to control almost all system functions and may
be combined in almost any order. The following scriptable actions have the corresponding effects:
• Display video: Displays video from the indicated camera.
• Start recording: Starts recording video from the indicated video source.
• Stop recording: Halts recording of the indicated video source.
• Run script: Initiates execution of a remote script.
• Wait: Pauses execution of a script for a given number of seconds.
• Send mail: Sends e-mail message to a given recipient.
• Activate relay: Activates a relay device.
• Preset: Moves camera to a specified preset. A preset allows you to direct a PTZ (camera positioning system) to a predetermined location.
• Pattern: Runs a specified pattern on a camera. A pattern allows you to program the movements of PTZ-enabled cameras.
• Start Loop: Indicates the starting point for a series of commands that are repeated. Any commands between this action and the End Loop
action will be repeated.
• End Loop: Indicates the ending point for a series of commands that are repeated. Any commands between the Start Loop action and this
action will be repeated.
• Stop Pattern: Halts a specified pattern on a camera.

To program scripts, click the Setup button , and then click the Scripts tab.

ACTIVATING A SCRIPT MANUALLY

To activate a script manually:
1. From the Tools menu, select Execute Script (CTRL+ALT+S) to display the Execute Script dialog box.

3. Click Execute to activate the script, or click Cancel to exit without activating the script.

a green script icon.

2. Click the option button beside the script you want to stop.

3. Click Halt.

Working with Alarms
In Endura an alarm may be triggered by motion, a physical switch, or a device condition. Alarms are all virtual in Endura; any alarm can trigger
events anywhere in the system. Through event groups, conditions can be applied to alarm events: an alarm might only trigger under certain
conditions or multiple alarms might be necessary to trigger an event. Enable or disable each of these notifications for individual users from the
Users tab in the Setup screen.

Any device attached to an Endura system can issue an alarm. This includes cameras, encoders, network video recorders, storage expansion
boxes, and so forth. If alarm inputs found on certain cameras are used, a bidirectional communication protocol must be used with that camera.
The Pelco D protocol is the only Pelco protocol that supports bidirectional communication. For example, Spectra domes can receive PTZ
commands from the workstation through the encoder to which they are connected, and they can transmit alarm event information. If you want to
transmit information about camera-related alarm events to the Endura system, you must configure these cameras to use Pelco D protocol. Refer
to the Cameras section in the operation manual for information about configuring a protocol for a camera. Refer to the camera’s installation
manual to determine if it is capable of bidirectional communication.

ABOUT THE ALARM MANAGER TAB

 The Alarm Manager tab contains the following information and commands (refer to Figure 58 on page 51):

Alarm Notification Icons: The alarm icons are displayed in the upper-right corner of the application window.
The alarms are color-coded as follows:
• Green represents: Normal alarm.
• Yellow: Minor alarm.
• Orange: Major alarm.
• Red: Critical alarm.
List of Active Alarms: A list of active alarms is updated as new alarms occur on the Endura system, and existing alarms are deleted
from the list as you acknowledge them. As you select an alarm in the list, additional information about the alarm appears on the tab.
Snooze and Acknowledge Commands: Use these commands to remove alarms from the list. Select an alarm and then click Snooze
to remove the alarm from the list temporarily. The alarm reappears in the list after the snooze time has been reached. The snooze time is
set on the Users configuration page. The default snooze time is one minute. Click the Acknowledge button to remove the alarm from the
list permanently. If you select several alarms and then click a command, the group of alarms is removed from the list temporarily or
permanently.
Alarm History Information: As you select an alarm in the list, any available information about the history of the selected alarm
appears in this window. If this window is blank, then no information has been recorded about the history of the alarm.
Add to Log Command: Click this command to add a custom message to the log.

Log Entry Window: Use this window to enter a custom message about the alarm, and then click the Add to Log command.

Comments Window: Use this window to review any comments that have been added to the log either automatically by the system, or
manually by users. You cannot change the comments in this window. To add more comments, enter the information in the Log entry
window.
Details: Use this area of the tab to review specific information about the selected alarm. Details about the alarm include the camera
associated with the alarm, the name of the alarm, and the time at which the alarm occurred.
Preview Window: Use this window to view video associated with the selected alarm event: To view any video associated with the
alarm on a workspace, click the “Send all associated cameras to workspace” button , which is located beside the camera name
in the Details window.
Show Tab on Alarm: Check this box if you want the Alarm Manager tab to open each time an alarm occurs. By default, this setting
is disabled.

ALARM NOTIFICATION
In Endura systems you can acknowledge or snooze an alarm notification. You also may read administrator comments about the alarm or add a
note to the system log explaining your response. If there are more alarms than can fit in the list, you can resize the list by dragging the bottom
right corner to a larger size.

Endura also stores information about alarm events in a system log.

In addition to user notifications, alarms may also trigger the activation of scripts, setting one or more other events in motion. Possible scripted
responses to an alarm include sending e-mails, positioning cameras, recording video from nearby cameras, and displaying the video from nearby
cameras. Program scripts from the Scripts tab in the Setup screen. For information about creating a script, refer to the Creating Scripts section in
the operation manual.

You can be notified of the alarm event in several ways:

• An alarm notification sound may occur.
• E-mail can be sent to you.
• The alarm icons are displayed in the upper-right corner of the application window. The alarms are color-coded as
follows:
– Green: Normal alarm.
– Yellow: Minor alarm.
– Orange: Major alarm.
– Red: Critical alarm.
• The alarm notification icon flashes in the Alarms tab .

SELECTING ALARM EVENTS IN THE ALARM MANAGER
You can select alarm events in one of the following ways:
• Click on an alarm to select a single alarm event.
• Press CTRL+ALT+A to select all of the alarms.
• Press and hold the Shift key while you click the first and last alarm to select adjacent alarms.
• Press and hold the CTRL key while you click individual alarm events in the list to select several nonadjacent alarms.

 ACKNOWLEDGING AN ALARM
1. In the Alarm Manager event pane, click the alarm occurrences that you want to acknowledge.

2. Click the Acknowledge button. The alarm occurrence disappears from the list and the acknowledge action is recorded in the alarm log and
system log.

As alarms are acknowledged, they are removed from the list of active alarms on all Endura workstations. To view information about an alarm that
another operator has acknowledged, from the Tools menu, select System Log.

SNOOZING AN ALARM
To snooze an alarm (that is, postpone the response and ask to be reminded after a short period):
1. In the Alarm Manager event pane, click the alarm occurrences you want to snooze.

2. Click the Snooze button. The alarm occurrence disappears from the dialog box and the snooze action is recorded in the alarm log and
system log.

3. After a delay, the alarm notification will reappear with a clock icon indicating that the alarm was previously snoozed.

READING ALARM COMMENTS

To read comments about an alarm:
1. In the Alarm Manager event pane, click the alarm occurrence for which you want to read the comments.

2. In the Comments box, view information about the selected alarm event and how to respond to the alarm.

ADDING A NOTE TO THE SYSTEM LOG

You can add information about an alarm event in the system log. In the space provided, describe any actions you have taken in response to the
alarm. For example, you might note whether you conducted a physical security check; inspected any malfunctioning hardware; or spoke with
someone like a building maintenance supervisor or network administrator.

To add a note to the system log:

1. In the Alarm Manager event pane, click the alarm occurrence for which you want to add a note.

2. In the Log entry text box, describe any actions you have taken in response to the alarm. For example, you might note whether you conducted
a physical security check; inspected any malfunctioning hardware; or notified someone, such as building maintenance, a supervisor, or a
network administrator.

3. Click the “Add to Log” button. The note is added to the system log and is cleared from the Log entry text box.

 SENDING ALL ASSOCIATED CAMERAS TO THE ALARMS WORKSPACE
You can view video from all cameras associated with an alarm event. Video from each camera starts playing at the same time. You can use the
playback controls for each view pane to control how video from each associated camera is viewed.

To view video for an alarm event from all associated cameras:

1. In the Alarm Manager event pane, click an alarm occurrence. Video for the alarm event is displayed in the Alarm Manager view window.

2. Click the “Send all associated cameras to workspace” button . The video from the associated cameras appears in the video panes.

3. Use the playback control for each view pane to control how video is played back.

NOTE: In the example shown, cameras are displayed in only two video panes because no other cameras are associated with the alarm.

Activating Relays
The software may be used to activate output relays manually, connecting Endura devices to other external devices. A relay may be activated for
a predetermined period of time (the dwell time) or may remain latched until there is another signal to release the relay. Configure relays from the
Devices tab in the Setup screen.

To activate a relay:
1. From the Tools menu, select Activate Relay (CTRL+ALT+R) to display the Select Relay dialog box.

2. Click the radio button beside the relay you want to activate.

3. Click Activate, or click Cancel to exit without activating the relay. Click Clear Selection to clear all selected relays.

Manually Recording Video and Audio
NOTE: Improper use of audio/visual recording equipment may subject you to civil and criminal penalties. Applicable laws regarding the use of
such capabilities vary between jurisdictions and may require, among other things, express written consent from the recorded subjects. You are
solely responsible for insuring strict compliance with such laws and for strict adherence to any/all rights of privacy and personalty.

The software allows you to record video clips while viewing live video without setting up a recording schedule. Endura includes an additional
30 seconds of video at the beginning of the recording to ensure that you record all of the events leading up to a manually recorded event.
Audio, if available, is also included in manual recordings.

To record a segment of video manually, use one of two options:

• Move the pointer in the video pane until the video controls appear, and then click Record .
• Right-click in the video pane, and then select Record from the shortcut menu that appears.

While recording is in progress, the Record button blinks, and the border of the video pane turns red.

To stop recording, use one of two options:

• Move the pointer in the video pane until the video controls appear, and then click the blinking Record icon .
• Right-click in the video pane, and then select Stop Recording from the shortcut menu that appears.

NOTE: If the software is disconnected from the network or crashes while manual recording is active, the system will continue recording for up
to two minutes, and then stop recording automatically.

Searching for Video
The WS5000 offers two options for searching recorded video: Quick Search and Enhanced Search. Quick Search allows you to search for video by
single device, date, and time. Enhanced Search allows you to search for video by multiple devices, date and time range, and events.

QUICK SEARCH
The Quick Search tab is a detachable screen that provides a simple, clickable interface for selecting, viewing, and exporting video by the date
and time. You can also export video from this tab. Different types of recorded video are represented by four different colored bars:
• Green: Continuous recording
• Red: Alarm recording
• Blue: Motion recording
• Yellow: Manual recording
• White: Locked video
• Star: Marked video

Along with marked events, a cursor marks the position along the timeline of the video that is currently playing. This cursor remains synchronized
with the current video as a reminder of where you are along the timeline.

To perform a quick search:

1. Select a video pane that is currently displaying video.

2. Click the Quick Search tab. The timeline automatically searches for recorded video. To disable this feature, click the Automatic Quick
Search button . To enable this feature, click the button again.

3. As recorded video is located, it is automatically displayed in the active video pane. Click the “Automatic playback” button that is
located above the timeline) to disable the automatic display of video. To enable this feature, click the button again.

4. To search for video from a different camera, enter a different camera number above the timeline.

5. To change the date and time that is being displayed, edit the Date and Time settings above the timeline.

6. To change the timeline view from days to hours, minutes, or seconds of video, zoom in using one of the following methods:
• Roll the center wheel of the mouse toward you or away from you.
• Click the “Next recorded interval” button or “Previous recorded interval” button to skip to the next or previous recorded
video clip along the timeline.
• Click the “Zoom In” button beside the timeline. One click zooms to hours, two clicks to minutes, and three clicks to seconds.

7. To change the timeline view from hours, minutes, or seconds to a larger increment, zoom out using one of the following methods:
• Roll the center wheel of the mouse toward you.
• Click the “Zoom Out” button .

8. To move from recording to recording on the graph, press N to select the next recording or P to select the previous recording.

 9. Click the Play button to play back video from the currently selected point on the timeline.

10. To fast forward or reverse, use the on-screen video controls. Refer to Playing Back Video on page 66.

ENHANCED SEARCH
From the Enhanced Search workspace tab you can create a more fine-tuned set of search results across a specific date range. You can limit your
search to specific cameras or restrict the type of video you search for based on its recorded events. Setting up an enhanced search is a three-step
process: you select a time range, select your filter criteria, and you begin the search.

SEARCHING FOR VIDEO BY RECORDING TYPE

To perform an enhanced search for video:
1. Click the Enhanced Search workspace tab or click in the toolbar.

2. Select the date and time range. You may choose one of the preset options or specify another date and time range.

To choose a preset option, click the option button beside your desired timeframe:
• Past 24 hours
• Past 3 days
• Past 7 days

 To specify the date range manually, you have three options:
• Click the Calendar button and then click a date on the pop-up calendar to set the start date for your search. Repeat for the stop
date.

• Type the date. Click in a date field, delete the current date, and then type the date you want to use for the start or end of your search.
• Use the date spinners. Click the month field, and then use the up and down arrows to scroll through the numbered months (1 to 12)
until you reach the month you want to use for the start or end of your search. Repeat the same process for setting the date and the year.

To specify the time range manually, you have two options:

• Type the time. Click in a time field, delete the current time, and then type the time you want to use for the start/end of your search.
• Use the time spinners. Click the hour field, then use the up and down arrows to scroll through the numbered hours (1 to 12) until you
reach the hour you want to use for the start/end of your search. Repeat the same process for setting the minutes, the seconds, and AM
or PM.

3. Select filters for your search type. By default, all devices are included in your search. Check Video to search for recorded video.
The Recording Types list appears below the Devices list.

4. Select one or more recording types to narrow the search results. Choices are Continuous, Alarms, Motion, Manual, and Marked.

5. Select whether or not to limit the search to locked video by selecting the Locked video check box. Locked video is available only when you
search for video; it is not available when you search for events.

6. To specify the devices included in your search, click the Modify... button next to the Devices list (refer to Figure 72 on page 61). The Assign
Devices dialog box appears (refer to Figure 73 on page 61).

7. Select a device from the left column, and then click Add to include it in the search. To exclude a device, select it in the right column, and
then click Remove.

9. After you are satisfied with all of the search criteria, click Search. The system searches for video that matches the search criteria and
displays the results in the Enhanced Search Results tab at the bottom of the screen. Detach the tab and resize it to view the results.

10. Search results appear on the Enhanced Search Results tab below the workspaces. This tab displays the following information:
• Locked/unlocked status (icon)
• Start time
• Camera name
• Duration (in days, hours, minutes, and seconds)
• Recording type (continuous, alarm, manual, ... .)

11. Rest your cursor over an entry in the list to see additional information such as the recording NVR, frame rate, and resolution.

 SEARCHING FOR VIDEO BY EVENT TYPE
You can search for video that was recorded based on events, alarms, or motion detection settings including analytic settings.
1. Click the Enhanced Search workspace tab or click in the toolbar.

2. Select the date and time range. You may choose one of the preset options or specify another date and time range.

To choose a preset option, click the radio button beside your desired timeframe:
• Past 24 hours
• Past 3 days
• Past 7 days

To specify the date range manually, you have three options:

• Click the calendar button and then click a date to set the start date for your search. Repeat for the stop date.

• Type the date. Click in a date field, delete the current date, and then type the date you want to use for the start or end of your search.
• Use the date spinners. Click the month box, and then use the up and down arrows to scroll through the numbered months (1 to 12) until
you reach the month you want to use for the start or end of your search. Repeat the same process for setting the date and the year.

To specify the time range manually, you have two options:

• Type the time. Click in a time field, delete the current time, and then type the time you want to use for the start/end of your search.
• Use the time spinners. Click the hour box, then use the up and down arrows to scroll through the numbered hours (1 to 12) until you
reach the hour you want to use for the start/end of your search. Repeat the same process for setting the minutes, the seconds, and AM
or PM.

3. Select filters for your search type. By default, all cameras and recording types are included in your search. Select Event and the Event Types
appears beneath the Devices list.

4. Select the event types that you want to include in your search. Choices are Alarm, Motion, or Analytic.

5. To specify the devices to include in your search, click the Modify... button next to the Devices list (refer to Figure 77 on page 63). The Assign
Devices dialog box appears (refer to Figure 73 on page 61).

6. Select an alarm or motion device from the left column, and then click Add to include it in the search. To exclude a device, select it in the
right column, and then click Remove.

8. After you are satisfied with all of the search criteria, click Search. The system searches for video that matches the search criteria and

On the Enhanced Search tab, do the following:
1. Click Modify beside the Devices list.

2. Under Assigned Devices, click the items you want to remove from the right column.

3. Click Remove.

4. Click OK to accept the changes, or, to cancel your filter changes, click Cancel.

5. To remove all device filters, click Reset beside the Devices box on the Enhanced Search tab.

PLAYING BACK OR LOCKING VIDEO FROM THE ENHANCED SEARCH RESULTS

1. To play back video, click one of the search results, and then click in the upper-right corner of the Enhanced Search Results tab. Refer
to Playing Back Video on page 66 for instructions on using video controls.

2. To lock a search result, click to select it and then click the lock/unlock icon in the upper-right corner of the Enhanced Search Results tab.
The locked/unlocked icon beside that search result switches to locked . When you lock a video clip, a dialog appears in which you can
enter a comment to the video for future reference on the Comments dialog. To review the comment later, move the pointer over the video
clip in a search results window.

To unlock a search result, click to select it and then click the lock/unlock icon again. The locked/unlocked icon beside that search result
switches to unlocked .

3. To run a new search, click the Cancel button. This resets the searching mechanism but does not clear your search criteria or your results.

EXPORTING VIDEO FROM THE ENHANCED SEARCH RESULTS

You can export any recorded video that appears in either the Enhanced Search Results list or the Quick Search Results list. For instructions, refer
to Exporting Video from the Enhanced Search Results on page 64. For instructions on exporting live video while you are viewing it, refer to
Exporting Recorded Video on page 70.

PRINTING A REPORT OF THE ENHANCED SEARCH RESULTS

NOTE: You must install a printer before you can print the search results.
1. Open the Enhanced Search Results tab at the bottom of the screen.

2. Click the Print Results button . You do not need to select an item in the list.

A list of the video in the search results is printed on the default printer. If you do not have a printer attached to the workstation, follow the
instructions at Exporting a List of the Enhanced Search Results, below, to create a document from the list.

Playing Back Video
When working with recorded video, the border color of the video pane changes from bright green to bright yellow. Each video pane has its own
set of playback controls. These controls appear in the lower-left corner when you move the pointer anywhere within a video pane (normally only
visible in 1 x 1, 2 x 2, or 3 x 3 layout; visible in all layouts when in Extended View). If no camera is selected, these controls do not appear. To hide
the video controls, move your cursor outside the video pane. If you are watching live video while it is being recorded, click any reverse button to
begin reviewing prerecorded video immediately.

Pause/Play: Starts or pauses the recorded video

Frame-by-Frame Reverse: Plays the video in reverse a single frame at a time.

Fast Reverse: Plays the video in reverse. Pressing the Fast Reverse button repeatedly increases the playback speed.

Jump to Previous Event: Either a manually marked event or the start of the previous recording segment.

Jump to Next Event: Either a manually marked event or the start of the next recording segment.

Fast Forward Plays the video. Pressing the Fast Forward button repeatedly increases the playback speed.

Frame-by-Frame Forward: Plays the video forward a single frame at a time.

Mark an Event: During playback, use this button to flag an event for later review. Marked events appear as yellow stars in the Quick
Search tab. Note that marking an event does not lock the video clip; use Enhanced Search to lock and unlock video clips.
Export Video Clip: Refer to Exporting Video or Snapshots on page 70.

Zone of Interest mode: Use this button to create up to eight zones of interest. Refer to Working with the Zone of Interest Feature on
page 32. This button appears on the toolbar when you view video in a 1 x 1 display.
Digital Zoom: Refer to Using Digital Zoom Controls on page 29.

 The speed of forward and reverse can be increased by clicking the buttons additional times, as on many home DVD player controls. The current
direction and speed (2x, 4 x, 8x, 16x, 60 x, 120x, 300x) appear in the upper-right corner of the video pane. To decrease the forward or reverse
speeds, click the Pause button once and then click the direction buttons. Click once to reduce the speed to one-quarter of the normal speed
for the selected direction. Click twice to reduce the speed to half of the normal speed. Click the Pause button again to stop the reduced
speed playback. To resume playback at normal speed, click the pause button two times; the first time pauses the video, the second starts
playback at normal speed.

Recording schedules and settings affect the availability of video and how you can view it. If you are viewing recorded video from a camera that
has not been recording continuously, you might notice gaps in the recording timeline that appears in the Quick Search tab. The software
automatically jumps to the next segment of recorded video while you are viewing this camera stream unless the gap is too long. To view
subsequent video clips past the gap, select the next video clip on the Quick Search timeline, and click the Play button. Similarly, if you have
searched for video on the Enhanced Search tab, recorded video that is separated by large gaps is represented as separate video clips on the
Search Results tab.

SYNCHRONOUS PLAYBACK
You may want to select several cameras and have them all start playing back from the same moment in time. By activating synchronous
playback, you can select recorded video from as many cameras as necessary and use a single set of video controls to play, pause, forward, or
reverse all of the cameras simultaneously. While using the synchronous playback feature, you can export all of the video, export some of the
video, or take snapshots from one or more of the cameras. Refer to Exporting Video or Snapshots on page 70 more information.

To enable synchronous playback:

1. From the navigation pane, select up to 16 cameras that you want to display.

2. If necessary, select a different layout so you can view more cameras.

3. Click the Synchronous Playback button .The Sync Playback tab is displayed, and the borders of the video panes turn yellow.

 Each camera that is displayed is represented by a colored bar on the timeline in the Sync Playback tab. The colors and symbols represent
the following types of recorded video:
• Green: Continuous recording
• Red: Alarm recording
• Blue: Motion recording
• Yellow: Manual recording
• White: Locked video
• Star: Marked video

4. Use any of the available command buttons on the Sync Playback tab while reviewing the video:
• Play, pause, rewind or fast-forward the video
• Display recorded video for the previous or next recorded interval
• Export video or take a snapshot from one or more of the cameras

5. To display video from a different start time along the timeline, move the slider right or left, and then click Play (refer to Figure 84 on
page 68).

6. To stop the synchronous playback, click the Synchronous Playback button again.

NOTE: In cases in which the start and stop times for cameras are not identical, a message appears in the video pane notifying you that recorded
video is not available. The video appears as soon as the start time is reached.

Exporting Video or Snapshots
EXPORTING RECORDED VIDEO
Recorded video and audio can be archived (exported) onto a network storage drive or removable media for evidentiary purposes. The software
provides several options for exporting recorded video and its associated audio recording. Default settings related to exporting video and audio
are configured for each user and include a destination folder and video file format. If you do not want your video saved to the default export
location (C:\Program Files\Pelco\Endura\GUI\Export) and default video format (Pelco Video File), go to the Users tab of the Setup screen to change
the default settings. Refer to the software configuration manual for more information.

Use the Export Manager to track the progress of exported video clips by clicking the Export Manager icon located in status bar along the bottom
of the screen. Refer to Managing Exported Video on page 76 for information about using the Export Manager to monitor exported video clips.

EXPORTING RECORDED VIDEO WHILE PLAYING IT BACK

1. Move the pointer in the video pane that is playing the recorded video clip until the video controls appear.

2. To start exporting, click Export . While video is being exported, the Export button blinks blue alternating with green, the border of the
video pane turns red, and the Workspace icon is replaced by an Export icon.

3. Use the fast forward control until you reach an end time for the exported video clip, and then click Export again. This will mark the end time
for the exported video clip. You can use the Export Manager to track the progress of the video clip.

4. To return to viewing live video, right-click in the video pane and then select Go to Live from the shortcut menu.

EXPORTING VIDEO FROM THE QUICK SEARCH OR ENHANCED SEARCH TABS
Users with export access can create export files that contain individual video clips, a series of video clips in a playlist format, or up to four video
clips in synchronous playback as a unit.
1. Select the video that you want to export from either the Quick Search or the Enhanced Search tabs.

NOTES:
• Refer to Enhanced Search on page 59 for additional information on locating video to be exported.
• Refer to Exporting a Synchronized Play Sequence on page 73 for additional information on working with synchronous video.

2. Click the Export button. The Export Manager screen appears along with the selected video clips (refer to Figure 88).

3. Repeat the previous steps until you have the desired number of video clips in the Playlist.

NOTES:
• Make sure that all the video clips to be included in the Playlist have a check mark.
• To change the order of the video clips in the playlist, you can move the video clips up or down by clicking the Move Up or Move Down
button. You can also remove a video clip by highlighting the clip and clicking the Delete button.

4. Select the export directory for the playlist or video clip.

5. Type a password if you want to limit access to the video. This step is optional.

6. Choose the export format. Choices are .pef (Pelco Export File format) or .avi. (audio video interleave format). If you select .pef, you can also
select to include the Pelco Export Player with the exported playlist or video clip.

NOTE: Audio files cannot be exported in .avi export format. Audio can only be exported in a .pef format.

7. Choose the overlay positions or set a watermark for the playlist or video clip.

8. With the desired video clips in your Playlist, click the Start Export button.

9. Click the Export Status tab to view the progress of your export (refer to Figure 89 on page 72). Expand the Playlist to view the status of each
video clip.

If you click the Cancel button while an export is in progress, a dialog box will appear asking if you want to cancel the export. Click the Yes
button to cancel the export, or click the No button to continue exporting the Playlist.

EXPORTING A SYNCHRONIZED PLAY SEQUENCE
Exporting video for synchronized playback can be essential in applications in which several cameras might provide a different perspective to a
single event. There are two ways to export video for synchronized playback. You can display up to four video clips on the Sync Playback tab, or
you can select individual video clips for export and then select the Sync Together button on the Export Manager dialog box.

SELECTING VIDEO FOR EXPORT FROM THE SYNC PLAYBACK SCREEN

1. Display the Sync Playback tab.

2. Select the video that you want to export. You may select up to four cameras. The Sync Playback screen displays video with the same
timestamp for each selected camera.

3. Click the Export button. The Export Manager screen appears.

4. Edit the export settings of the clip you are about to export:
• Select Time Range: Select the start and stop dates and times.
• Choose the export format: Select the file format from the available choices.
• Choose the export directory: Select the directory location to store the exported files. The default on the computer hard drive is as
follows:

C:\Program Files\Pelco\Endura\WS5000\Export

To change the default export settings, go to the Users tab of the Setup screen. Refer to the software configuration manual for more
information.

5. Click Start Export. The video clips are sent to the Export Manager and are exported in the background while you continue with other tasks.
To track the progress of the video, open the Export Manager. Refer to Managing Exported Video on page 76 for more information.

1. Display video from up to four cameras.

2. Click a video pane, and then click the Export button on the Quick Search tab. The Export Manager dialog box appears.

3. Close the Export Manager, and then repeat the previous step for each remaining video pane.

4. From the Export Manager, press and hold the CTRL key while you select each video clip to be exported. Each row is highlighted.

5. Click the Sync Together button. The selected video clips are merged into a single row with a single Start Time, Stop Time, and Duration.

6. If necessary, edit the Start Time and Stop Time.

7. Click the Start Export button. The video clips are sent to the Export Manager and are exported in the background while you continue with
other tasks. To track the progress of the video, open the Export Manager. Refer to Managing Exported Video on page 76 for more
information.

EXPORTING SNAPSHOTS
To take a snapshot of live video or of recorded video being played back:
1. If you do not want your video saved to the default export location (C:\Program Files\Pelco\Endura\GUI\Images) and default video format
(Portable Network Graphics files [*.png]), go to the Users tab of the Setup screen to change the default settings. Refer to the software
configuration manual for more information.

2. Position your mouse in the video pane displaying the video you want to capture. The video controls should appear at the bottom of the
pane.

3. Click the Snapshot button . A camera icon appears momentarily in the upper-left corner to confirm that the snapshot has been saved.

4. The file is saved to your default Snapshot location in your default file format. From this location, you can then open and print the image, or
burn it to a CD or DVD using the Nero StartSmart software installed on your Endura workstation. Refer to the Nero help viewer for detailed
instructions on burning CDs and DVDs.

EXPORTING SNAPSHOTS OF SYNCHRONOUS VIDEO

To take a snapshot of synchronous video:
1. From the Synchronous Playback tab, click the Snapshot button. The Take Snapshot dialog box appears.

2. Edit the snapshot settings:

• Select Format: Select the file format. JPEG is the default format.
• Select Directory. Select the directory location.
• Select Cameras. Select all of the cameras to include a snapshot.

Individual snapshots are captured for each camera that you selected. To see a larger view of a snapshot in a separate window, click its
thumbnail image.

To change the default export settings, go to the Users tab of the Setup screen. Refer to the software configuration manual for more
information.

MANAGING EXPORTED VIDEO
Several video clips can be exported at the same time while simultaneously monitoring live video or performing other functions with the software.
Use the Export Manager dialog box to display lists of recorded video that you are exporting. From this screen, you can track the progress of each
video clip, cancel an individual clip from being exported, or cancel all clips from being exported.
1. Display the Export Manager screen in one of the following ways:
• On the Tools menu, select Export Manager.
• Use the keyboard shortcut (CTRL+ALT+E).
• Click the Export Manager button in the status bar.

The Export Manager dialog box appears on top of the main screen.

2. Review information about exported video clips on the the following tabs:
• Export List: Contains a list of recorded video that is being exported. Use this tab to set the details for exporting each file or playlist.
This tab includes settings for the export directory, password protection details, file format, and watermarks.
• Export Status: Provides the status of each video clip or playlist that is being exported. Information on this tab includes the name of
the exported file or playlist. the status of the export, requested or finish time, and the duration of each exported video clip or playlist.

3. To review details about each video clip, select an item to display the properties for each entry at the bottom of the screen. The following
details are displayed for each type of video (refer to Figure 94 on page 77).
• Name: The name of the playlist or video clip that was captured or is being captured.
• Status: The current status of the transmission, for example, Exporting, Successful, Canceled, etc.
• Request Time: The time at which you began exporting the video. This time does not change unless you cancel the export and start it
again.
• Duration or Current Duration: The length of the exported video. Duration appears on the Recorded tab. Expressed in hours, minutes
and seconds, this number will vary from the actual length of the recorded video if you export less than the entire segment.
• Estimated or Actual Size: The estimated or actual size of the playlist or video clip that is being exported.
• File Name: The name of the exported file that is assigned by the software.
• Directory: The location where the exported file is stored either on the computer hard disk, an external storage drive, or CD or DVD.
• Format: The file format in which the playlist or video clip is exported, for example, Pelco Video Files With Player (*.pef).

4. Click Close to close the Export Manager dialog box.

Given the proper permissions, you may view the system log, and search, print, or export it to disk.

VIEWING THE SYSTEM LOG

To view the system log:

1. Click the Display System Log button to open the System Log window.

2. Click Search Log. A list of logged events appears in the window. The following information is displayed in columns:
• Log entry type (information, errors/exceptions, warnings, alarm activity)
• Date and time
• User name
• Device ID
• Information

The Filter box indicates whether log searching filters are currently on or off.

3. Click a column heading to sort the log by that item.

 4. Click and drag the bar to the right of the column heading to expand or narrow the log data column.

1. Click the Display System Log button to open the System Log screen.

2. Click the Modify button. The System Log Filters dialog box appears.

3. Select the desired Device Filters settings. The default setting is to search the log for all device types and all devices. To restrict your search
results, select “Specific device types” and select the devices from the list.

4. Select the devices within those types you want to search. The default is to search all devices. To restrict your search results, select
“Specific devices” and add the devices to the Device Filter list.

5. Filtering by alarms is useful for checking the status of alarm-triggering events. By default, events triggered by all alarm types are included
in the log. To add specific alarm type filters:
a. Select “Specific alarm types” to restrict the search.
b. Check the alarm types you want to include in your search. Options are available for input alarms, diagnostic messages, video analytic
alarms, and video motion alarms.

6. Filtering by user log entries is useful for investigating the activities of an individual user or users. By default, all user-related log entries are
included in the search results. To add user filters:
a. Select “Specific users” to restrict the search.
b. Check the user names you want to include in your search.

7. Filtering by text is especially useful for locating manually added log entries when you know the word or phrase used to describe an
incident. By default, manual log entries are not included in the search results. To add text filters:
a. Select “Search for specific text”.
b. Enter the text you want to locate in your search.

8. When you have finished modifying the filters, click OK to close the System Log Filters dialog box.

9. Click Search.

ADDING ENTRIES TO THE SYSTEM LOG
The software allows you to enter notes in the system log manually. Each entry is stamped with the date, time, and your user name and can be
correlated to recorded video through a Quick or Enhanced Search. Possible uses for manual logging include recording phone calls, logging
customer contacts, and noting unusual behavior for review by a supervisor. This information complements the information captured automatically
through the system’s automatic logging function.
1. From the Tools menu, select “Add to System Log”, or press CTRL+A. The “Add Entry to System Log” dialog box appears.

2. Enter your comment in the log.

3. Click the Log button.

4. The window remains open until you click Close. This allows you to record multiple entries without having to reopen this window each time.
It also allows you to leave the window open while you monitor video.

Using the Pelco Export Player
Use the Pelco Export Player to view video that was exported in the Pelco video file format (.pef).

PLAYING BACK EXPORTED FILES

1. Through Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder that contains the exported files.

2. When you have located the exported file you want to play back, double-click it. The file opens in its own player window.

Camera Name and Timestamp Display: Displays the camera name and timestamp of the video clip.

Current Playback Speed and Direction: Displays the current playback speed, direction, and authentication status for the
video clip. For example, a flag icon indicates that the video has passed the authentication process.
Video Pane: Displays video exported from the WS5200 software.

File Name and Video Clip Duration: Displays the complete name of the exported file along with the date and time the file
was recorded, and indicates the length of the video in hours, minutes and seconds.
Video Clip Details: This area represents the duration and content of the file to be played back. The video is displayed as a
series of frames that represent a time segment within the video clip. Move the black time bar along the clip details to display
that time segment in the video pane. Additional command buttons are available to show or hide the video clip details and to
scroll right or left along a video clip that extends beyond the length of the screen.

OPENING A FILE
Audio/video files can be opened two ways: by selecting the file from Windows Explorer or by starting the Pelco Export Player and then selecting
the file.

OPENING A FILE FROM WINDOWS EXPLORER

1. From Windows Explorer, locate an exported video file on the computer hard disk or on an external media.

2. Double-click the file. The Authenticate Video screen appears.

 3. If necessary, click the Authenticate button before opening the video file. The Authentication screen appears while the software
authenticates the file.

4. If you do not need to authenticate the file, click the View Video button. The audio/video file opens in a separate application window for the
Pelco Export Player.

OPENING A FILE WHILE OPENING THE PELCO EXPORT PLAYER

1. Locate and start the Pelco Export Player. The Pelco Export Player can be started by selecting a desktop shortcut or a menu entry. The Pelco
Export Player Start screen appears.

2. Click the “Video file browse” button to search for exported video.

3. Navigate to the folder that contains exported files and playlists, select a file, and then click Open. The default location for storing exported
video is C:\Program Files\Pelco\Endura\WS5000\Export. The Authenticate Video screen appears.

4. If necessary, click the Authenticate button before opening the video file. The Authentication screen appears while the software
authenticates the file.

5. If you do not need to authenticate the file, click the View Video button.

AUTHENTICATING A FILE
Verifying the integrity, or authenticity, of a video clip is an important aspect of any video surveillance system. The Pelco Export Player can
authenticate any video file saved in its proprietary format. Files saved with a .pef extension can be authenticated and details about the success
or failure of the authentication can be reviewed in the Pelco Export Player.

If video fails to pass authentication, the specific frames that failed are identified. You can then view these frames or view the entire video clip.

To verify that an exported file has not been altered, run the Pelco Export Player’s authentication utility:
1. Open the file you want to authenticate. The Pelco Export Player Authentication screen appears.

2. Click the Authenticate button. The status bar gradually indicates the progress of the authentication (refer to Figure 107 on page 86). Click
Cancel at any time to interrupt the authentication process.

When the authentication is 100 percent complete, results messages appear on the screen indicating the status. These messages indicate if
the video authentication was successful, if a playlist has passesd authentication, or if the video failed to pass authentication.

3. Click the View button to see information about any frames that failed the authentication check. If no frames failed, no information is
displayed.

4. Click the View Video button to bypass any results and open the video clip.

5. Click the Cancel button if you do not want to view the video clip.

 To view information about the currently active video file, click the ”Show file details” button . A dialog box appears, providing the following
details about the currently playing video file:
• File name
• User name of the person who exported the video
• Date and time on which the video was exported
• Camera name
• Duration
• Start time
• End time
• Duration

The dialog box can remain open while you view the video clip. If you open a new video file, the dialog box updates to reflect the information in
the new file. To close the dialog box, click the Close button.

If more information is available than will fit on a single page, the dialog box indicates that there are more pages. The Properties dialog box
expands. The dialog box now displays additional information about the active file:
• Export version (version of the software used to export the file)
• Number of video clips in the file
• Total video frames in the file
• Security mode at time of recording
• Encoder that streamed the video
• NVR that recorded the video

It also provides details about each video clip in the file:

• Clip number
• Format (such as MPEG-4)
• Size of the image (such as 704 x 480)
• Frames per second (fps)
• Start time of the clip
• End time of the clip
• Total number of frames in the clip
• Number of I-frames in the clip

To hide this information, click the Close button again.

USING DIGITAL ZOOM CONTROLS

Similar to controlling PTZ on a camera, digital zoom controls let you zoom specific areas of the video. Digital zoom controls work on any video
clip. To use digital zoom controls, you must be viewing video from a camera in single view (1 x 1).
1. Open an exported video clip in a 1 x 1 view. If you have exported synchronized video and are viewing it in a 2 x 2 view, you must switch to a
1 x 1 view.

2. Click the Digital Zoom buttons to zoom in or zoom out . The view displays the video with a picture within a picture. Use the
command buttons to zoom in, zoom out, and reset the zoom to 100 percent . The center wheel of a mouse can also be used to zoom in
or out on the scene.

3. When you are finished with the digital zoom controls, click the Hide Zoom Context button to return to a normal display.

SNAPSHOTS
You can save a snapshot of a single video clip or of several video clips if they were exported together as synchronized video. Along with the
snapshot you can insert a watermark over the image.
1. While viewing video, click either of the Snapshot buttons . Use the Snapshot button located in the video pane when you are viewing
a single video clip. Use the Snapshot button located on the toolbar when you are viewing synchronized video.The Preview Snapshot screen
appears.

2. Set up a watermark for the snapshot as follows:

a. Type a watermark, select a color and size for the font, and set the opacity for the text. The higher the opacity, the darker the text.
b. Press and hold the mouse pointer over the text block, and resize it or move it to a new position.

3. Click the Save button. The Windows Explorer Save As ... screen appears.

4. Choose a folder or external drive in which to save the file, type a file name, and select a file format for the snapshot.

5. Click the Save button.

SETTING UP THE PELCO EXPORT PLAYER

The Pelco Export Player requires virtually no setup. It automatically displays commands in the language that was configured for the computer at
which video is exported. The one feature that can be set up is the show/hide setting for the camera name and timestamp.
1. While displaying a video clip, position the mouse pointer over the camera name and timestamp in the upper-left corner of the video.

2. Click the push-pin icon next to the name. Depending on the original setting, the camera name and timestamp either remain visible or are
hidden when the mouse pointer is not positioned over the video clip.

3. Click the push-pin icon again to change the setting back to its previous setting.

USING EXTENDED VIEW
Sometimes you might find that the Pelco Export Player application window is too small for the video file that you are viewing. You can change the
size of the window by dragging the lower corner to a different size. You can also use the Extended View command to enlarge the Pelco Export
Player application window to fit the entire screen.

1. To switch to Extended View, click the Extended View button on the toolbar.

2. To exit the Extended View, click the Exit Extended View button , or press the Escape key on the computer keyboard.
