Top brands, like Mumm and Veuve Clicquot, were particularly hurt by the slowdown in air travel, which
all but dried up all-important duty-free sales.
The Union des Maisons de Champagne (UMC) trade body has said it expects to sell 100 million fewer
bottles this year, an unheard-of hit that will slash overall sales to 3.3 billion euros ($3.9 billion) -- down
34 percent from last year.
The SGV union has expressed "strong concern" for exports to the US and Britain, the two biggest
markets for champagne outside France.
Antoine Chiquet, head of the Gaston Chiquet champagne house in the village of Dizy, near Epernay, is
con dent the bubbles will ow again before 2020 is out.
But will it be a trickle or a ood?
"For the French, there's no doubt: champagne is the drink of choice for year-end festivities," he said.
"It's the same for our British and Italian friends," he said, "but the question is, in what quantities?"

There was some relief this summer for smaller champagne houses as Europeans began to travel across
the continent again, giving wine tourism in the Champagne region a shot in the arm.
The Boizel champagne house in Epernay said it received "surprisingly large" numbers of Belgians,
Scandinavians and British visitors.
But with governments around the world imposing new lockdowns to slow the spread of Covid-19, the
market looks set to freeze over once more.
The virus has saddled producers with over 1.2 billion bottles in stock, representing several years of
potential sales.
While the surplus can be used by producers as collateral for a bank loan, excess supply also drives down
prices.
To avoid seeing prices go through the oor, traders representing the big champagne houses drove a hard
bargain this year with the thousands of growers who supply their grapes.
The champagne houses demanded a sharp reduction in output, infuriating growers who were celebrating
an exceptional harvest.
In the end the two sides agreed on 8,000 kilos of grapes per hectare -- the equivalent of 230 million
bottles.
Besides shoring up prices, several champagne producers have also decided, somewhat belatedly, to go
green.
Market leader Moet Hennessy, which includes the Ruinart, Dom Perignon and Moet et Chandon brands,
announced this year that it would halt the use of chemical weedkillers in its vineyards by the end of
2020.

con dence, to report that, "An employee of Tanishq – and his family – was trolled mercilessly and

There are also reports that reveal Tanishq's Brand Manager was hunted down on Linkedin and

When cancel culture or 'boycott' of a brand starts having real-life consequences on individuals who are
associated with the brand, and not the brand as an entity in itself, it stops being just 'cancel culture'. It
starts becoming a hate movement-- where one individual gets targetted and in turn made the scapegoat

called the Artemis Accords that outlines the principles of future exploration of the Moon and
beyond.

"Artemis will be the broadest and most diverse international human space exploration program in
history, and the Artemis Accords are the vehicle that will establish this singular global coalition," said

While NASA is leading the Artemis program, it has emphasized the need for international partnerships
in building up a sustainable presence on the Moon, something the agency views as key ahead of an
eventual human mission to Mars.
The agency hopes, for example, to excavate ice from the Moon's south pole to supply both drinking
water and to split the molecules apart to make rocket fuel for the onward journey.
It also plans to establish an orbital space station called Gateway.
NASA said the Artemis Accords reinforce and implement the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, and are split
broadly into 10 principles.
The signatories commit, for example, to adhering to peaceful exploration in a transparent manner, to
create hardware systems that are operable by every member nation, and to registering their space
objects.
Other principles include af rming that they will render assistance to each other in case of emergency,
make their scienti c data public, preserve the heritage of outer space and plan for the safe disposal of
space debris.

This old footage is making nostalgic particularly in the backdrop of TRP scam that rattled the world of
TV news in India recently. The fake TRP scam came to light when ratings agency Broadcast Audience
Research Council (BARC) led a complaint through Hansa Research Group, alleging that certain
television channels were rigging TRP numbers.
Hansa is one of BARC's vendors on engagement with panel homes or people's meters.
Last week, Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh had claimed that Republic TV and two
Marathi channels - Box Cinema and Fakt Marathi -- manipulated TRP. Republic TV has rubbished Param
Bir Singh's claims.
On October 10, Republic TV had aired a document which purportedly belonged to Hansa Research Group
and "there are reasonable grounds to believe that the summoned persons are acquainted with certain
facts and circumstances of the document and same is required to be ascertained from them", the
summons said.
TV news was seen playing a pivotal role in the witchhunt of actor Rhea Chakraborty after actor Sushant
Singh Rajput died by suicide in June. She was accused of pushing Sushant ito depression and give him
drugs. Rhea was recently released after spending a month in jail over 'possession of drugs'.
