I interviewed Scott Stefansic on October 14, 2020 about his career as a Delta Airlines Pilot.

When asked
how STEM is incorporated in his job he said, “I use science in the aerodynamics of flying and weather
patterns. I also use technology to control the plane’s speed, temperature, and other features.
Engineering is used when we control the wind flaps and fix broken parts of the plane. I also use math to
determine the time of arrival according to the speed of our travel.” Scott also is a retired United States
Navy F-18 Fighter Pilot. After 22 years of service, he moved onto commercial flying and still enjoys his
career to this day. He is also an alumni from Purdue University and holds a bachelors in Aerodynamic
Engineering.
