Turn the tensioner clockwise until there is slight contact with the pin

Fit the camshaft
Remove locking

Loosen the camshaft gearwheel bolt
If required, turn the high-pressure fuel pump pulley until the tool can be fitted

Remove the lower engine covers (if fitted)

Check the belt(s) for cracks, fraying, wear and oil contamination

Always check the timing marks before timing belt removal
Turn the camshaft and high-pressure pump gearwheels clockwise to the end of their slots

Note: The high-pressure pump will now be difficult to check for the timing point; however, a slight deviation will not
affect engine operation
