Gap Identified: Subject Verb Agreement

Learning Objectives:
Students will be able to identify and generate the subjects
and verbs in a sentence.

Success Criteria:
1. Recognize singular and plural nouns
2. Recognize singular and plural verbs

Awareness Raising Activities: (MUST use authentic


data minimum twice)

Intervention Activities:
Starter
1. Give a sample sentence and ask students to act out the
sentence.
2. Discuss the noun, or the person , place or thing that the
sentence is about. (How many things are mentioned in the
sentence? Is the subject plural or singular)
Content
1. Give some sample sentences and ask students to
identify subject and verb
Explanation : Subject (who or what does the action), Verb
( the word that shows action) using :Palm-and-Fist Rule
2. Give students a sample list of singular nouns, pronouns,
and plural nouns.

Advanced level
Instruct them to write 5 sentences with incorrect SVA
and switch with a partner to correct the sentences.

Mediocre Level
Give 5 sentences with incorrect SVA and ask them to
correct the sentences in pair.

Weak Level
Give 5 scrambled sentences and ask them to rearrange
the jumbled words.

Plenary
Stand Up Sit Down
1. Teacher writes and and says a series of statements.
2. Students stand up if they disagree. Students sit down if
they agree.
