WHAT IS MOTIVATION

Definition:-
The act or process of stimulating to action, providing an
incentive or motive, especially for an act.

It is the influencing factors that move people to take actions


that move them away from what they don't want, and
towards what they do want..

Motivation is the word derived from the word ’motive’ which means
needs, desires, wants or drives within the individuals. It is the process
of stimulating people to actions to accomplish the goals. In the work
goal context the psychological factors stimulating the people’s
behavior can be -

• Desire For Money


• Success
• Recognition
• Job-Satisfaction
• Team Work,etc

MOTIVATIONAL TECHNIQUES FOLLOWED BY GOOGLE


If you know how to motivate employees, your company’s overall status
and profits will improve as a result. Employees are the lifeblood of the
company. It’s therefore vital to use effective employee motivation
techniques so they can stay happy and inspired with their work. This, in
turn, will also make them more productive.

Here are few employee motivation techniques google use to arouse


their enthusiasm:

Google Know their personal background, where they went to school,


any job experiences they had before join us, their hobbies, their future
plans… even the minor things like what movies or books they prefer.
this shows that they willing to take the time to know more about their
employee. Employee likes to talk about themselves, so what they are
doing is satisfying their ego.

They are giving exciting opportunities and reward them for their
accomplishments. As much as possible, they give them job
assignments that they’re either good at, are interested in, or can have
fun with. They are giving every opportunity to prove how good they
are. And once they’ve proven their worth or even exceed google’s
expectations, acknowledge them. They arranged the exiting prizes to
conducting award ceremony. And giving the public recognition.

This employee motivation technique will inspire others to do their best


because they want to attain the same recognition!

We already knew that working for Google had certain advantages,


but, believe me, this giant of the search motor takes the welfare of
its employees seriously .. as shown by this decompression (stress)
capsule that is impermeable to sound and light …
Moving around: A slide allows quick access from different floors ..
There are also poles available .. they are similar to the ones used in
fire stations.

INOVATION: Large boards are available just about everywhere


because ‘ideas don’t always come when seated in the office’ says
one of Googles managers.

LEISURE. Pool tables, video games etc. are available in many areas.

Communication. .. On each floor, there are private cabin areas


where employees can attend to personal affairs.

It's not only about moving highly qualified staff abroad but finding people who are
ready to move and the city they are willing to move to – that's why quality of life is so
important if companies don't want to lose these people," Rhyner said.

IMPORTANT OF MOTIVATION
Motivation is a very important for an organization because of
the following benefits it provides:-

Puts human resources into action

Every concern requires physical, financial and human resources to


accomplish the goals. It is through motivation that the human resources
can be utilized by making full use of it. This can be done by building
willingness in employees to work. This will help the enterprise in securing
best possible utilization of resources.

Improves level of efficiency of employees

The level of a subordinate or employee does not only depend upon his
qualifications and abilities. For getting best of his work performance, the
gap between ability and willingness has to be filled which helps in
improving the level of performance of subordinates. This will result into-

a. Increase in productivity,
b. Reducing cost of operations, and
c. Improving overall efficiency.

Leads to achievement of organizational goals

The goals of an enterprise can be achieved only when the following


factors take place:-

d. There is best possible utilization of resources,


e. There is a co-operative work environment,
f. The employees are goal-directed and they act in a purposive
manner,
g. Goals can be achieved if co-ordination and co-operation takes place
simultaneously which can be effectively done through motivation.

4.Builds friendly relationship

Motivation is an important factor which brings employees satisfaction.


This can be done by keeping into mind and framing an incentive plan for
the benefit of the employees. This could initiate the following things:

h. Monetary and non-monetary incentives,


i. Promotion opportunities for employees,
j. Disincentives for inefficient employees.

In order to build a cordial, friendly atmosphere in a concern, the above


steps should be taken by a manager. This would help in:

1. Effective co-operation which brings stability,


2. Industrial dispute and unrest in employees will reduce,
3. The employees will be adaptable to the changes and there will be
no resistance to the change,
4. This will help in providing a smooth and sound concern in which
individual interests will coincide with the organizational interests,
5. This will result in profit maximization through increased productivity.

Leads to stability of work force

Stability of workforce is very important from the point of view of


reputation and goodwill of a concern. The employees can remain loyal to
the enterprise only when they have a feeling of participation in the
management. The skills and efficiency of employees will always be of
advantage to employees as well as employees. This will lead to a good
public image in the market which will attract competent and qualified
people into a concern. As it is said, “Old is gold” which suffices with the
role of motivation here, the older the people, more the experience and
their adjustment into a concern which can be of benefit to the enterprise.

If you give somebody a raise, they’re tickled for a day or


two, but it doesn’t really motivate you,”

IMPORTANT OF MOTIVATION TO A BUSINESS

1. The more motivated the employees are, the more empowered


the team is.
2. The more is the team work and individual employee
contribution, more profitable and successful is the business.
3. During period of amendments, there will be more adaptability
and creativity.
4. Motivation will lead to an optimistic and challenging attitude at
work place.

IMPORTANT OF MOTIVATION TO ANINDIVIDUAL

1. Motivation will help him achieve his personal goals.


2. If an individual is motivated, he will have job satisfaction.

3. Motivation will help in self-development of individual.

4. An individual would always gain by working with a dynamic team.
