Notes pour I'execution
Ne respirez qu'aux endroits indiques par Ie
signe " la respiration continue est donc sou­
haitee. Bien que precisement fixe, Ie tempo
doit etre considere d'une fagon tres souple.
L'attention devant etre portee sur Ie phrase
et la «musicalite» plutot que sur une stricte
«obsession» des notes. Les notes sont mal­
gre tout importantes, en particulier les into­
nations et les micro-glissandi qui feront I'ob­
jet d'un travail tres precis. La derniere
sequence (mesure 115 a
la fin) est congue
sur une polyphonie des timbres de la flute.
Les queues notees en dessous sont jouees
« normalement », les queues notees au des­
sus sont toujours jouees avec un timbre et
donc un doigte different. Cette derniere
a
condition est necessaire la comprehension
musicale de ces dernieres mesures.

La sonorite de pizzo (mesure 105) est notee }
et se produit par un coup de langue dans ie
palais sans emission d'air.

Le vibrato est a proscrire totalement !
Duree: 6' 30" environ.
C'est un hommage au peintre B.N. qui disait:

Breathe only at the places marked with the f
sign " so as to achieve continuous breath­
ing if possible. Although the tempo is t
indicated precisely, it should nevertheless be
considered very fluid. Care should be taken {
over the phrasing, and the playing should be
musical rather than simply a matter of
correct notes. This does not mean that the ,•
notes themselves are unimportant, and the
,
intonation and micro-glissandi must be
precisely observed. The last part (bars 115
to end) is based on a polyphony of the
,
various timbres of the flute. Those notes with
tails down should be played normally, while
those with tails up are to be performed with a
different timbre which implies a different
fingering. It is vital to understand this aspect
in order to grasp the meaning of the final
bars.

is produced by clicking the tongue against
the palate without letting any air pass.
