RRC SIGNALLING

* Secondary serving cells are added by the eN ode B after RRC connection
establishment using an RRC Connection Reconfiguration
message. This message can includes sections to add, modify or release secondary
serving cells.

* Between I and 4 secondary serving cells can be added by the RRC Connection
Reconfiguration message. This provides support for
Carrier Aggregation across 5 serving cells after accounting for the primary serving
cell
* Each secondary serving cell is allocated an index within the range 1 to 7. The
secondary cell is linked to its index by specifying its
Physical layer Cell Identity (PCI) and its downlink E-UTRA Absolute Radio
Frequency Channel Number (EARFCN.
* The UE is then provided with a section of common radio resource configuration
information. This type of information is present
within the Master Information Block (MIB) and the set of System Information
Blocks (SIB). For example, the PHICH configuration is
present within the MIB, while the MBSFN Subframe Configuration is present
within SIB2.
* The UE is then provided with a section of common radio resource configuration
information. This type of information is present
within the Master Information Block (MIB) and the set of System Information
Blocks (SIB). For example, the PHICH configuration is
present within the MIB, while the MBSFN Subframe Configuration is present
within SIB2
* The first part of the common radio resource configuration is referenced as 'Non-
UL Configuration'. This refers to information which
is applicable to the downlink, or both the uplink and downlink
o the downlink bandwidth is specified in terms of Resource Blocks (6, 15, 25, 50,
75 or 100)
o the number of antenna ports used by the cell specific Reference Signal is defined
(1, 2 or 4)
o the MBSFN subframe configuration is used to specify which subframes (if any)
are allocated to MBSFN
o the PHICH configuration defines both the PHICH duration (normal or extended)
and the PHICH resource, also known as the
PHICH Group Scaling Factor (1/6, 1/2, 1 or 2)
o the PDSCH configuration defines the Reference Signal power in terms of the
Energy Per Resource Element (EPRE) using a
range from -60 to 50 dBm. It also defines the 'p-b' variable (P6) which has a range
from 0 to 3. Both of these variables are used
as inputs when calculating the power difference between the PDSCH and the cell
specific Reference Signal.
o the TDD configuration specifies the uplink-downlink subframe configuration (0
to 6) which defines the number and pattern of
uplink and downlink subframes. It also specifies the special subframe
configuration (0 to 8) which defines the duration of the
DwPTS, guard period and UpPTS.
> the Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) information includes the bandwidth
configuration and the subframe configuration. These
parameters define the Resource Blocks and sub frames used for SRS transmission
(see section 13 .2). This section of SRS.
information also includes a flag to indicate whether or not SRS transmission is
permitted simultaneously with HARQ
acknowledgements on the PUCCH. However, the UE ignores this information
element because the PUCCH is not transmitted on
secondary serving cells. This section of SRS information also includes the Max
UpPTS parameter which determines whether or
not the bandwidth of the SRS is reconfigured when transmitted within the UpPTS
field of a TDD special subframe.
> the uplink cyclic prefix length is signaled as either 'normal' or 'extended'
> the PRACH configuration defines the PRACH Configuration Index (0 to 63)
used to specifY the PRACH preamble format and
the set of subframes available for PRACH preamble transmission. In the case of
TDD, the configuration index also defines the
frequency resources available for PRACH preamble transmission
o the PUSCH configuration defines the frequency hopping mode (inter-subframe,
or intra and inter-subframe) and the frequency
hopping offset (0 to 98), as well as the number of sub-bands used for frequency
hopping. It also specifies whether or not 64QAM
can be used in the uplink. Information regarding the uplink Reference Signal is
also provided.
> the cross carrier scheduling information (see Table 206 in section 18.7) indicates
whether or not cross carrier scheduling is to be
used. If resources on the secondary cell are to be allocated by the same secondary
cell then a value of 'own' is signalled. In that
case, a flag is also included to indicate whether or not the Carrier Indicator Field
(CIF) is included within the PDCCH belonging
to this secondary serving cell to allocate resources for other serving cells. If
resources on the secondary cell are to be allocated by
another serving cell then a value of 'other' is signalled, and the scheduling cell
identity is specified. In that case, the PDSCH start
symbol is also provided to avoid the UE having to rely upon the PCFICH to
determine the first OFDMA symbol for the PDSCH.
> The CSI Reference Signal configuration can be used to setup CSI Reference
Signal transmissions with both non-zero and zero
transmit powers (a zero transmit power is used to create instances of DTX which
allow interference measurements). The number
of antenna ports used for the CSI Reference Signal is configured as 1, 2, 4 or 8.
The resource configuration (0 to 31) defines the
CSI Reference Signal Configuration and points towards a row within a look-up
table that specifies a 'reference' Resource
Element. The actual Resource Elements used by the CSI Reference Signal are
derived from this 'reference' Resource Element
using antenna specific offsets. The Subframe Configuration (0 to 154) is used to
defme both a periodicity and subframe offset for
the timing ofthe CSI Reference Signal. The variable Pc informs the UE of the ratio
between the PDSCH Energy per Resource
Element (EPRE) and the CSI Reference Signal EPRE. The value ofPc can be
signalled with values between -8 and 15 dB
> the PDSCH configuration defines the 'p-a' variable (P A) used as an input when
calculating the power difference between the
PDSCH and the cell specific Reference Signal.
* The second part of the dedicated radio resource configuration is referenced as
'UL Configuration'. This refers to information which is
only applicable to the uplink
o the antenna information defines the uplink transmission mode (transmission
mode 1 or transmission mode 2). If transmission
mode 2 is signalled then the eN ode B can also include an instruction to use 4
antenna ports for uplink transmission
o the PUSCH configuration indicates whether or not group hopping is enabled, and
also whether or not Orthogonal Covering Codes
(OCC) are to be enabled for the demodulation Reference Signal
o the uplink power control information for a secondary serving cell is presented in
Table 204 (section 18.5)
o the CQI report configuration defines the aperiodic CSI reporting mode (1-2, 2-0,
2-2, 3-0 or 3-1) and all of the information
necessary for periodic CSI reporting. A flag is also included to indicate whether or
not the UE should provide Precoding Matrix
Indicator (PMI) and Rank Indicator (RI) feedback
o The SRS configuration information includes the SRS bandwidth, hopping
bandwidth, frequency domain position, duration,
configuration index, transmission comb offset and cyclic shift. It also defines the
number of antenna ports to be used for the SRS
o The aperiodic SRS configuration defines the SRS configuration index for
aperiodic transmissions. It also defines I to 3 SRS
configurations which can be triggered by DCI format 4, and configurations which
can be triggered by DCI formats 0, lA, 2B or
2C. In each case, the number of antenna ports, the SRS bandwidth, the frequency
domain position, the transmission comb offset
and cyclic shift are specified
