Activity Guide and Evaluation Rubric – Task 2 Writing task forum

1. Activity Description

Type of activity: Collaborative


Evaluation moment: Intermediate Unit 1
Highest score of the activity: 120 points

With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning
outcomes:

The student will be able to write a text describing experiences in past, using the
phrasal verbs, besides to write sentences applying the conditionals on topics that are
known or of personal interest.

The activity consists of:


A writing exercise, where the students must develop different practice activities from
the E-book, to apply the knowledge in the exercises asked in the guide. In this task
the student must apply the conditionals to write some sentences, and the phrasal
verbs in a text, about an activity occurred in the past.

Tenga en cuenta que todas las unidades del curso se estudian y trabajan
desde el E-book o libro electrónico que encuentra en el ONLINE CONTENT.
El curso Inglés 2 trabaja en el nivel B1, en los primeros 6 módulos del E-book

Stage 2. Using conditionals.

Go to the Module 1, section Activities, topic 1. Using conditionals, and watch the
video about “Jessica is getting married next month”. Analyze and complete the
sentences with the words you hear of the exercise that you find down of it.

Take a screenshot of it and post it in the Writing collaborative forum.

Stage 3. Using the present factual conditional

Read the explanation of Topic 2. talking about habits and their results, and
develop the activity that you find there. Take into account that this topic work with the
Present factual conditional or cero conditional.
Take a screenshot and post it in the Writing task forum.

Stage 4. Development of topic 3 and 4.

Develop the activities of Topic 3. Talking about scientific facts, Topic 4. Order of
clauses in conditionals.
Take a screenshot of each one and post them in the Writing task forum.

Stage 5. Apply the Future Factual Conditional

Write 10 sentences using the Future Factual Conditional, or First Conditional taking into
account the explanation of Topic 6. Reading e-mail messages, and publish them in
the Writing task forum. They must be written for you, not copied from any web page.

Stage 6. Recognize the Phrasal verbs

Develop the practice activity of Topic 10. identifying phrasal verbs and Topic 11.
understanding phrasal verbs in context, publish the screenshots of the
development of it in the forum. Then, identify the 21 phrasal verbs that are in these
exercises, and write them in the chart you find below.

Write the phrasal verbs that you identify in the exrcise 10 and 11.

Stage 7. Apply the phrasal verbs in a text.

Choose 7 phrasal verbs from the exercise of Topic 10. identifying phrasal verbs;
and Topic 11. understanding phrasal verbs in context, and write a text in past
where you use them. You have to underline these phrasal verbs to distinguish them in
the text.

Example:
Two years ago my family and I were in Cartagena. We decided to go in my car because we wanted to
take advantage of it to visit many touristic places in that city. While we were in the car, we turned on
the radio and we were happy. I plugged in my cellphone in the car to take the pictures. We had three
hours traveling, suddenly our car broke down and we found down the motor was so hot.

I was worried but my husband calmed me down. We asked for a crane but they didn´t answer us. After
twenty minutes, they called back us and we explained our problem. When they got to the place, they
helped us and we could arrive at Cartagena. We ate out in a typical Caribbean food restaurant. In the
end, our trip was excellent.

Stage 8: Publish your text

You must publish your text written with the phrasal verbs in the Writing task forum.

Stage 9: Send your feedback

Each student must give feedback to one of his/her partners. The feedback must help
to improve the text of your partners. You must tell if it has something to improve or if
it is perfect and explain why.

Note: In case a student has sent his/her contribution on time but any other one has
sent his/her participation. This student must send a message inviting the group
member to participate and signing the due dates of the activity, besides can send a
motivational message as a way to encourage the group member’s participation.

Stage 10: Upload the final product

The final product must contain:


- Cover with your full name, course code, group number and name of the
activity.
- You must attach the 6 screenshots after being posted on the forum.
- Five sentences in present factual conditional.
- Ten sentences in future factual conditional.
- The text with ten phrasal verbs.
- The screenshot of the feedback to your partner.

- This product must be sent by Evaluation environment, in Task 2 - Writing task
forum - submit activity Assignment

For the development of the activity consider that:

In the Initial Information Environment, you must: review the course agenda to work
within the established dates.

In the Learning Environment, you must: Study all the English contents found in
the Online content - English level II, to develop each step that you find in the
guide. Besides, the students find the Activities guide and evaluation rubric with
all the instructions to develop, and the Writing task forum where the students must
socialize the development of each step indicated in the guide.

In the Evaluation Environment, you must: send the final Writing task, organized in a
PDF document, with all the steps required in the guide and with the cover page.

Evidences of individual work:


The individual evidence to be submitted is:

Each student must develop each step required in the guide and publish each one of
them if the Forum.
- The 6 screenshots of the practice activity.
- Five sentences in present factual conditional.
- Ten sentences in future factual conditional.
- The text with ten phrasal verbs.

Besides each student must publish the final task in a PDF document by the Evaluation
Environment.

The collaborative evidence to be submitted is:

Each student must give feedback to one of his/her partners in such a way that
contributes to improve the partners contribution, saying what to improve or if the task
is perfect or presents mistakes and explaining why.

2. General Guidelines for the Development of Evidences to Submit

For Individual evidences, consider the following:

1. The student is responsible of his/her process. Each one must study the E-
book of online content and develop each one of the steps given in the
guide.

2. The student must participate in the Writing task forum according to the
times required in the guide, sending the development of each activity of
each stage.

3. The student must evidence all the E-book practices (6 screenshots).

4. The student must publish the sentences with conditionals in the


collaborative forum and the text built with phrasal verbs.

5. The student must upload the final product by Evaluation environment, in


Task 2 - Writing task forum - submit activity Assignment.

6. Every member of the group must participate with academic’s contributions


in the activity development.

7. Before delivering the requested product, all the requirements indicated in


this activity guide must be checked.

For collaborative evidence, each student must give feedback to one of his/her
partners. This feedback must help to improve the contributions.

Please keep in mind that all individual or collaborative written products must comply
with the spelling rules and presentation conditions defined in this activity guide.
Regarding the use of references, consider that the product of this activity must
comply with APA style.

In any case, make sure you comply with the rules and avoid academic plagiarism.
You can review your written products using the Turnitin tool found in the virtual
campus.

b) In case of proven plagiarism in academic work of any nature, the score obtained
will be zero (0.0), without any disciplinary measures being derived.
